Right now doing T4 is a breeze and it’s super boring on my Spiritborn even after the bug fixes. I still believe that it would be a good idea to increase the Torment difficulty to at least level 8 for the challenge and additional rewards!
For those people that kept asking in the previous thread before it was deleted, I will create a QA for all t he questions asked before.
Increase Torment Difficulty Questions & Answers
Q. Why should the Torment difficulty increase when my weak build can’t keep up in T4?
A. As Blizzard have stated before, Blizzard wants most builds to accomplish Torment 1 since it’s theoretically possible to get all of the end game drops in Torment 1. Blizzard never promised that all builds should be able to do Torment 4, and they purposely stated that Torment 4 would be for those players that want the increased challenge and the bigger rewards. Raising the Torment difficulty to 8 (or to X number) completely aligns with Blizzard’s vision of Torment difficulties. Not everyone is supposed to do the higher difficulties.
Q. Why bother with a Torment 8 anyways? What’s the point?
A. The point is the increased challenge and additional rewards for those players that can do them. Not everyone wants to farm Torment 1 when the clear speed is the same as Torment 4, especially if you get more rewards from Torment 4 for the same effort. The same can be said with Torment 5, 6, etc. Also, some players may just want an additional challenge when fighting World Bosses, open world events, and even holiday events. Just because you are unable to do a higher difficulty does not mean that no one else should.
Q. Why should Spiritborn be the only class that can do these higher difficulties?
A. The Spiritborn will not be the only class that can do Torment 5, etc. Other classes may have builds that are yet to be discovered that can push them into the higher difficulties. Also, let’s be real, Diablo 4 has a history of power creep. If a class is not able to do Torment 8 now, they are highly likely to do it in a future season, which is probably when such an increase in the Torment difficulties would happen too.
Q. Spiritborn should be nerfed. Why do you want an increase in difficulty when Spiritborn are getting nerfed anyways?
A. As you saw with the latest patch, Spiritborn are still extremely strong. Instead of taking away the fun from all the Spiritborn players, shouldn’t Blizzard ADD more fun by buffing the weaker classes instead? Blizzard have said multiple times that they learned their lesson from season 1, which ended up making a ton of players angry and even quit the game when they nerfs many of the popular classes in the game. If Blizzard wants to repeat that same mistake, they will suffer the same consequences, and have an already existing smaller player-base shrink ever further when Spiritborn players quit after those nerfs.
Q. Won’t buffing other classes will destroy PvP balanceK?
A. Blizzard does not care about PvP. The game has never been balanced and the PvP scene is essentially non-existent. All the PvP players have already left, and many went back to D2 and D2R, or other games entirely.
Q. Isn’t adding more Torment difficulties like Diablo 3? Why is this a good thing?
A. Diablo 3 was a successful game and it’s clear now that Blizzard is taking a lot of inspiration from it. If X number of Torment difficulties worked for Diablo 3, then it has been proven that the same strategy can also work for Diablo 4. If Blizzard really wanted to stop at Torment 4, they would have named it something other than “Torment X”, and instead gone with what D3 originally did by having a set number of difficulties with specific names like Easy, Normal, Hard, Expert, Master, Nightmare, Hell, Inferno? But Blizzard chose to use “Torment X” instead since it’s much easier to increase the values of X. It’s clearly already planned that this may happen in the future.
