is there plans for pvp only servers?
there’s a lot of people that would like to enjoy pvp, its diablo after all, is there plan for pvp only servers?
for those of you pve players, youre not being forced to roll on a pvp server, youre not being forced to pvp, youre not going to get killed by players, pvpers are not going to hunt you down, pvp players are not going to stop you from content, pvp players are not going to grief you, pvp players are not going to harass you, pvp players are not going to wait outside of town for you, pvp players are not going to ruin your game, pvp players are not going wreck your immersion BECAUSE YOU WILL ROLL ON A PVE SERVER.

This would require good PvP balance, and they still haven’t figured out how to do that in Diablo.
theres no such thing as pvp servers in games…pvp is just a thing in game

No it wouldnt, it would just require a warning to players that pvp balancing isnt their main priority.
“WARNING THIS GAMES PVP IS NOT BALANCED AND SOME BUILDS WILL !@#% ON YOUR HORRIBLE BUILD”
If i got a warning like that Id be like "MY HORRIBLE BUILD??! We’ll SEE about THAT! challenge accepted.

That sounds super cool. Let me know how it goes after your level 6 necro gets camped for 6 hours straight by a level 100.

Hi, you must be new to online gaming =D
PvP servers exist in many games, for decades.
its a server where you cannot toggle pvp on or off, its strictly on.
welcome to online gaming <3
as someone thats not new to pvp, and has the ability to use their brain beyond running into a wall for 6 hours and expecting different results i can assure you that would never happen =D
pvpers are a bit smarter than the average bear =D

Clearly not or you wouldn’t be looking for good PvP in a Diablo game.

youre super cute, its like talking to my 6 year old nephew
where did i say i was looking for good pvp? I didnt. I want to see the unbalanced hilarious mess this will provide =D
and you know what the best part of it is, because its a pvp server, you dont have to play there, you literally just roll on a pve server and try to outsmart dumbed down pixels as much as your silly little brain wants

Let me know when a shark jumps out of the water and bites you on land. That’s what you sound like to actual PvPers. But thanks for the post bump!

theres no such thing…pvp is part of any online game you cant take it out
I would add to this statement:
There’s a lot of people that would like to enjoy pvp if built into a server or game mode the right way.
The game hasn’t launched yet, and PVP in the game has only been mentioned and talked about by Devs a few times. This means that it is not a current goal for the game, and that likely all of the systems have been designed around PvE gameplay goals.
Outside of the few zones or areas that they have already talked about that are intentionally designed with PvP gameplay goals in mind, I would not want them considering what they need to do to make a full PvP server possible at this time. There is so much else they could do to improve the game before this is the most important thing for me…especially since they already have at least some PvP that i haven’t had the opportunity to play.
If it makes sense, I would love to see this kind of server in the future…but at this point, I don’t think it makes sense.
As for the comments about L100’s outside of town camping lower levels…that is both part of the nature of this kind of immersed PvP experience, but also one of the things that would absolutely be balanced by mechanics in a proper implementation. Engagement restrictions via level range come to mind as one very likely solution…Equally scaled player power is another (and already used in the game more or less on enemies). The level 100 necro with stacked gear camping outside of a ‘low level’ town is a lot less scary when a level 10 Rogue with 1 lucky legendary drop can snipe them in one shot with penetrating shot because of their relative power in that area. There could be hundreds of other ideas and solutions to making it more fair…and more fun…
But my initial reaction is that it is way too soon for Devs to be talking about or considering something like PvP servers when there are so many other much higher priorities (EG stable servers for launch, crashes, bugs…etc). Though a good idea for a community manager or someone to add as an idea to something like a future ideas list if by some irrational possibility PvP servers are not already on this kind of list. I suspect it has been for years to be honest ![ ](https://d3sh8v238hy4ki.cloudfront.net/en/d4/images/emoji/twitter/wink.png?v=12)
I think the only way they could do PvP only servers is if characters all start at max level. And everyone has the paragon maxed, all codex of powers unlocked, etc. so basically everyone is on equal ground with everything. No advantages. All you do is PvP. Doesn’t sound fun to me but it might to some.
You absolutely can. Especially in a PvE focused game.

pve games are not online duh -.-’’
Well that’s just a false statement.
blizzard, being a gaming company thats built its empire on pvp, is very capable of making pvp only servers on day 1 of release.
that isnt the type of thing that would require months of RND, it would take like a week for them to do.
Im very worried by players like you, its always scared me when other people say “i dont want you to enjoy all this game has to offer because I dont want to play that way”

It’s apples and oranges. You will struggle to balance PvP when you bring in RNG grinded items from PvE and then keep them equal.
PvP can avoid that by having it normalized…items disabled and all players have access to the same amount of total skill points, then make exclusive balancing choices around the PvP mode.
Lost Ark did it, even though it was a poor implementation, it showed it can be done, and it spawned a competitive scene.
We know Rod Ferguson hurt our PvP feelings a bit yesterday when he said that Blizzard have no plans to support an e-sports scene with D4 PvP, but that doesn’t mean we cant get a good few arena PvP modes that keep servers ticking for years to come.

Depends. You can still make many builds and have fun with actual combat in PvP which is the main attraction.
It also depends on if there are different objectives, items that can be bought into the PvP mode (like in a MOBA), stuff like that. The possibilities are vast.
