PTR Sorc Feedback

Hello everyone,

Here is my Sorc PTR Feedback. Feel free to add more Sorc Feedback, so we can have oen big Sorc Feedback Post!

  • Okun’s Catalyst: Works kind of fine like the old gravitational aspect, but the bonus attackspeed after a defensive skill cast does not show in your stats (not sure if it works or not). The DMG is fine, but the DMG proc rate of the static field could be a bit faster. When you play a perma teleport ball lightning build the dmg does not proc as fast as you continue to teleport.
  • Strike of Stormhorn: I like the new playstyle of this one (Feels a lot like the old frozen orb playstyle). Like mentioned in the known issues post the range scaling dmg multiplier didnt work on the PTR, but I think even if they fix this the build is a bit too weak. I would suggest maybe to change all ball Lightnings into super ball Lightning and increase the range scaling dmg multiplier a bit more (This way good positiong and a good playstyle results in big DMG. This could lead into a nice Ball Lightning pushing Build)
  • New Gravitational Aspect: The new pull effect works very good! But another different DMG source again is a bit weird and too much. Its always hard to calculate if all those different DMG sources really do any necesarry DMG in the end. Why not just give this a nice DMG multiplier to Ball Lightning or Maybe all Lightning Skills. (All Lightning Builds could use another DMG mutplier source)
  • Mind’s Awakening Aspect: The barrier generation from Frost skills is very nice! The effect even stacks up to 100% Life as barrier (This just got a weird scaling bug and does not scale with your max life. It scales somehow with the base life, but then increases after multiple casts). The Pyromancy Immobilize effect is kind of bad (WE DONT NEED ANY MORE CC EFFECTS ON SORC) DMG reduction, attackspeed, vulnerable, pulling enemies, mana reg all those effect would be much better. The Shock skills movementspeed is also kind of useless (All Shock skills play perma teleport evade) Maybe give us evade CDR, Evade charges, teleport CDR.
  • Inferno: The new 50% dmg multiplier for Inferno makes the skill finally viable on all Fire sorc builds thats very good! Just the 0 mana cost effect is now kind of a debuff, because you cannot reduce your ice armor cooldown anymore and you cannot proc mana shield anymore. The vulnerable effect could last for a few seconds after inferno ended. This way you cold only use inferno to make enemies vulnerable! A good QoL change would be to actually see the duration of inferno (I think its around 4s)
  • Deepfreeze: Still useless even with the new rank 5 bonus. Maybe give all Frost skills AND ICESPIKES 40% increased DMG based on your vulnerable DMG after the use of Deepfreeze. This would give all Frost skills a much needed buff! The Prime Deepfreeze could give real DMG reduction after the use of Deepfreeze and not just another Barrier source you dont need.
  • Unstable Currents: The rank 5 bonus is just useless. One 3s stun every 10s is just not really good! Lightning Builds could use a bit of an DMG buff after the conjuration mastery and devouring blaze nerf.
  • Firebolt Enchantment: This is now just completely useless. 1 Point into warmth passive is better then this whole enchantment! Almost every sorc build is based on Barrier and not Life. Giving us more Barrier gen or pure DMG reduction here would be much better.
  • Aspect of Armageddon: I really like the boost to meteorites, but could we finally get one overall logicall scaling for meteorites and not a lot of different meteorites sources all with different DMG scaling. Maybe all Meteorites (Except the ton Rune) could scale with Meteor skill.
  • Sorc Passives: RIP all Frost Builds! Did anyone in the balance team realize this?
    – Fire Builds get Icy Touch as a new passive. Lose Conjuration mastery
    – Shock builds lose devouring blaze and conjuration mastery but get Inner flames and Icy touch
    – Cold builds lose devouring blaze and conjuration mastery and just get inner flames (Cold builds were the weakest in genereal) Especially Frozen Orb lost its biggest DMG multiplier
  • Ice Armor: I still have a big problem with Ice armor and keeping it up all the time. Most barrier for all Sorc builds comes from ice armor and “Snowveiled aspect” with its CC immunity is one of the best defensive aspects. I would really love to see a scaling for snowveiled with ice armor duration temper (This way the temper would maybe finally be used) And I would like to see the old barrier leech back. (All the other classes running around with 20 - 40k+ Life and then as a sorc player you have around 6k and now fire builds cant even kee up ice armor or mana shield, because of the new inferno buff)
  • Shatter Core Passive (VERY IMPORTANT): The Shatter Core passive is now bugged for over 1 Year. Since the Abatoir of Zir in Season 2 Shatter was used on every single best pit pushing build!!! Because this passive still doulbedips on a ton of different DMG multipliers. If you cant fix the passive just change this completely (Maybe into an ICE SPIKE passive) This single passive leads into most players thinking sorc is in any way good or “balanced” compared to the other classes, when the truth is that sorc is by far the weakest class right now. You can only really really hard push over pit 100 - 105 with any sorc build without the shatter passive!!! But with Shatter some sorc builds push pit 125+ and this makes most players think sorc is strong in any way, but this is just abusing all bugs of the shatter passive and fishing for an boss with Minions!

Ok this was all the feedback I got right now.
I hope this gets heared by any D4 developer in charge of sorc balance!

Well thought out Feedback. That pretty much summes almost everything up. In my humble opinion you should be able to speedclear Pit 90s and pushing 110+. Ofc with completly maxed out gear and without seasonal powers. Everything that goes far above 120+ is way to strong.

For Boss damage buff the passive Permafrost, please. F.e. You deal 5 % more Elite damage. Frost skills deal an additional 5 % Elite damage against chilled enemies.

Also I aggree Shatter has to go.

And they should add an ingame Wiki that explains how the game works. F.e. that there are two attack speed brackets and how F.e. Ice Spake damage from different gear interacts is with each other and so on.

Spot on mate. it would be nice not to have to get max CDR into every build to keep ice shield up, this really blocks some possibilities with builds, and not only because, as you say, our defense relies heavily on ice shield but at least two of our decent damage aspects also require or lean heavily on it

Also, it is not humanly possible for me to agree any more about shatter. This bug props up the class artificially on the leaderboards giving people who don’t play sorc something to point at when they say sorc is strong… and it is horribly unfun to be forced to play this every season to do high pits.

Yes maybe if it was fixed or removed, we would have a crappy season for pit, but maybe that is what it would take for people who don’t play sorc to realize just how bad it is.
