PTR notes are out and there is no mention of whirlwind, but there are a lot of upgrades for, yes, you guess it, earth quakes and dust devils, how fun? right?
Now, saltyness aside, why is it so hard for them to just make core skills to actually be useful without gimmicky mechanics?? it’s not that i don’t like earth quakes and dust devils, what bothers me is that we are literally being pigeonholed into that playstyle, each season patch notes should create more options on top of what we already have not to create them in such a way that the past options are worthless at worst and less appealing/weaker at best.
Hopefully, past seaons PTR’s have been changed quite a lot, so i expect a lot of improvements because, honstly, this notes seem pretty mediocre, even more now which you know what game coming out soon.

The earthquake buffs are mad, I honestly can’t see those multipliers making it into the final release.
Otherwise, I agree, still no direct WW buffs…sadge…at least we got even more fire res on ugly bastard helm though…

not only that but the damage on that thing went from 80(x) to 100(x), same as i said before, i don’t mind having fun and strong OPTIONS but thats the thing, they have to be options and not make past things pale in comparisson.
I’m surprised that they didn’t do anything to barbed carapace either, it didn’t do great deeps and it doesn’t work with tough as nails

These devs are clueless, man.
No unique updates?
Tripling down on EQ and DD?
Minimal keystone and paragon updates?
The armory isn’t enough to keep me around. POE 2 ftw, boys. Very sad.

This is 100 what I thought too! A barbarian should be doing MELEE damage! This isn’t a class that should rely on there garbage conjured things.

I didn’t know it doesn’t work with TaN. Wtfff
Soo…when they fixed they bug, they essentially disabled the interaction altogether? Lol. True Blizz form!

Yeah, it had me confused AF at the early stages of the season as I stacked strength and life out the wazoo, as well as ranks to tough as nails in order to get WW thorns viable for T4, but it couldn’t even farm helltides.
A few weeks later I heard on one of Dalkoras streams about a bugged interaction between TaN and carapace in that carapace would essentially disable TaN.
I logged a bug report about it, but it clearly didn’t go anywhere.

Just WW around, hota stuff, and drop quakes? I dunno, looks cherry to me lol
I have a WW Thorns on Eternal. Can hit a few hundred mill, but it’s pretty disappointing for T4. Very slow bossing.
All my tempers are TaN. So garbage.
Yeah I’ve never tried POE, always been a Diablo fan since D1… but with how poorly they are treating WW barb I see myself dipping into POE2 and forgetting about this game.
If you look at helltides ladder you can see a handful of builds with WW clears at 100+. Of them only 1 is a non rupture build (personally I dont want to play that build) and the one that is non ruptute is not even a WW build. Its an Earthquake build that uses WW for the pull to vacuum enemies into the quakes, the build doesnt even take advantage of dust devils. When I saw this guys clear listed at 105 running what looked like a WW build from his skill bar only to then watch the gameplay and he just pulse spins in place dropping quakes… I was infuriated having thought finally a WW build performing well… NOPE

Yea it’s all about the Passive changes. Buffs to Earthquakes and Dust Devils. WOTB pulling enemies instead of pushing. Slaying Strike affecting Healthy and Injured. Etc.

I’ve been patient and hopeful for long enough.
Now, I’ve definitely given up hope in Diablo 4 with this balancing and development team. The game is clearly in the wrong hands.
It actually feels kind of redemptive. And yes, maybe a good alternative will arrive at just the right time.
oh god that always bothers me, the wotb knockback… But yeah it would be nice if they made Slaying strike scale upwards from healthy to injured someting like 1% per level vs healthy ramping up to 3-5% per level vs injured

There is way too much multiplicative damage loaded in Passives for Barbarian. Almost every single Build is (let’s just say required) to take certain Passives. It does not add variety when you just gave a bunch of stuff in the Tree or on a Board that gives you x% Damage.
Never implied it was a good idea. Just posting what realistically changed.
No whirlwind buffs at all. No double swing buffs
Core skills are straight dumpster Garbo,
The most frustrating part of this, is that I’m going to play their overpowered flavor of the month EQ DD build , spend 3 months gearing up for it- only for them to realize they overturned it and then nerf the poop out of it later .
The whole thing stinks
This is what I hate about blizzard balance strategy. Overtune one item just so people can make it popular then nerf it to the ground while overtune something else for the next season. I’m looking at you Season 3 Charge.

One of the problems with Core Skills is that there is so much utility rolled into Legendary Aspects that bring up Core Skills to be let’s just say, average. With the need to have Mythic and Unique equipment, the item budget economy just isn’t there to be able to afford everything.
More importantly than that however, Core Skills tend to have really bad Enhancements and Upgrades to them. The one that was good, Furious HoTA, got nerfed into oblivion with it no longer scaling with Max Fury. Upheaval’s Damage Stacks forces you to use…non Upheaval? Whirlwind has a weaksauce Bleed and something you need to channel for a while before even seeing a benefit? Both DS and Upheaval a method to gain Berserking which is plentiful? Fury return on Rend?
That is what needs to get redesigned along with the Base Damage Values of the Skills.

Dot WW with is working alright for me atm, could use a buff, but I am also spreading my stats, to include a little of everything for fun over performance.
But it there is a build in there somewhere, i was spinning so fast i was a turbo propeller.
No dust devils. Got to T3 with it, but i like to mess around and I get adhd so until armory i lost the build, and I went full experiential mode, so perhaps it could have got to T4, I don’t see why not in better hands.
Edit- I got luck with a Butchers ga2 clever though and MW hit attack speed, so yeah that helped, but basically stacked speed and zerker, and WW crits and bleeding, once i brought in crimson and rupture. Since I wanted to explore dot build with WW. Oh and dont forget to equip the dual swords or axes for WW, since that will effect the speed i think. Pretty sure it effect it, like rupture wont use crimson if you have it set to dual swords.
