In my 20 hours of playtime, I’ve noticed a possible cause of these freeze/crashes that is happening very frequently is when there is a barrier effect nearby. There is an event quest i cannot do because it has this huge light blue barrier and i just immediately crash whenever i get close to it. Also, there is this tree monster in aldurwood dungeon that has a barrier that makes me crash my game as well. My game crashed/froze in places without barriers as well, but not as nearly as consistent as the ones with barriers.

Currently, Diablo 4 on PS5 freezes even when the character is standing in a simple place, e.g. in front of a chest, exploring the game world or after pressing the UP direction from the D-PAD to the voice command wheel.
There is a bug reporting window after suspend.
In the March open beta, the game never crashed for me. The longest session I had was a dozen or so hours and no problems, apart from the occasional “rubber band”.
In the May beta, I already had a few game freezes. Currently, sometimes I can play for a few hours and sometimes the game freezes in less than an hour.
The PS4 version of Diablo runs on PS5 even worse…
I reinstalled the game, from the extra NVME disk to the Console Disk, same problem. Other games work flawlessly.
The last such unstable game for the premiere was Cyberpunk 2077 …
Diablo 4 is saved only by the server-supervised game system, even for single player mode. After suspending and restarting the game, it returns us even to the place where we fought. Or exactly where the figure stood.
This is for me the only advantage of being online in single player mode for consoles. For PC, it is known to prevent cheating.
A very important question, if someone plays a character in one life mode - HARDCORE, will the character also die after the game crashes?
I believe that such cases of game suspension should be monitored by the server and, after logging in, resurrect such a character at the nearest teleport point.

That is very unfortunate. Hopefully, a solution can be found asap, so us consumers can get our money’s worth. It’s frustrating that billion dollar companies can’t even release a game without day one patches nowadays, but we are also kind of at fault for always buying their unfinished products.

I am frequently getting lockups on PS5.
From using a town portal to just flipping through menus.

I’ve had 3 crashes today just in town. Sometimes I am just standing in town and I need to get away from my tv for a bit and then come back and then it crashes shortly after. Sometimes it just crashes when I am walking in town on my way to the stash or to the occultist or whatever. All of these crash to the xbox series x desktop.
I’ve also had crashes where the game just freezes and I need to shut it down. I’ve also had issues with loading screens where it just doesn’t load into the next area, usually into a dungeon or going back to town from a dungeon. I am so paranoid about this one now that I just don’t teleport until I am finished the dungeon.
It has to be said, these things didn’t happen from June 1st through the 5th. I was getting other stability problems for sure - disconnects from the server and my abilities not working which forced me to logout and relogin again. But lately it’s just been crashing now. The crashes are pretty frequent too - 3 today alone, all in town like I said.

I can’t even log in to the game to play before it crashes. I must have the most severe crashing then bc this is what’s happening to me: I start the game up I see my account name w my hero standing before me then when I click x to play it crashes right there! Or! If I go into setting and change cross play or anything on setting and save! It crashes and it tells me send this in to Sony over and over and over again

Same here.
Standing in town, sorting my inventory and… Crash.
I had a freeze for one or two times now, bist most of the time it’s a crash and I can send an error report after that.
Very annoying and because of that unable to play hardcore Mode.

Lost a lvl 37 barbarian and a level 42 sorc to random crashes on ps5… I hope they can fix this…

Your post describes exactly how Diablo 4 works since its June 1 launch. In fact, this is how this game worked in the May beta.
Unfortunately, such random crashes completely excluded the console community from the 100lv HC race to reach the honorable place on the statue.

I’ve crashed about 3 times and I’m sure it was when entering a dungeon whilst an NPC was talking. Could be worse from what I’m hearing. As long as it’s not on a world boss. Is there a ‘loss and found’ feature for legendaries though?

I play daily with one of my friends (both on PS5). He crashes several times per night and I have never crashed once since launch.
He’s playing Necro and I’m playing Rogue. Wonder if there is some class based thing that is causing it? It does seem to happen when he is teleporting more often than not.

my whole console crashes after playing for lil to no time at all. to the point it won’t even turn back on until i unplug and replay back in. but only then it works just a while longer until the same thing happens again. it’s a travesty. please fix this blizzard

I’m not sure there is. I dont think so to be honest. That would be nice tho. Kinda like how you get the lost item in the mail in wow. I’ve crashed sometimes in the most unfortunate times like the end of an event or while opening a heavy chest during helltide. When i log back in, helltide is gone and my loot and the hard earned keys to unlock the helltide chests gone as well.

I’m pretty sure legendaries you don’t pick up in dungeons go to your stash. I saw a guy on yt complaining about it because it takes up all the space in his stash. I guess its an issue late game, dude’s stash was full of legendaries.

Good day, I have noticed that the game will crash within 2 hours of consecutive playing, is there a reason for it? Noticed that became more frequently after the full game launch, on early launch it wasn’t as noticeable as now. Please Blizzard could we get a fix for this. This is happening on 2 PS5’s.

My ps5 has been powering off suddenly several times a day usually at night while playing Diablo 4. To the point it making it unplayable. I have to unplug the power and replug to get the ps5 to come back on. Please look into this!

I played almost all day yesterday on PS5 and the game crashed ~10 times. Just freezed, nothing was moving, had to kill the game from home menu and start it again.
90% of the crashes happened when I was doing helltides. 1 was when teleporting to town, 1 was when I tried to open the wheel with up d-pad, and all the others were during opening of the inventory after picking up legendary item.
