PS5: All sound gone have to reboot since patch today

Three times in a row since the update:

I start the game, load up my character, there’s NO sound.

I have to log out, tell PS5 to CLOSE the app, then run it again and sound works again.

Until the next time I play - then I have to do it again b/c it’s back to no sound.

Might happen if you logout but never have the PS5 “close the app”, for those looking into the bug.

EDIT:
Update:
I have a box that switches my monitor and headset from my PC to the PS5.
Until this patch, I had no problem switching between PC and PS5 while D4 or any game was running.
Now when D4 is running, when I switch to PC and switch back to PS5, the sound is gone on the D4 only. If I go back to home screen I have sound just fine, same for other games, just D4 loses its audio.

I either have to close the D4 app and start it again, OR go to sound settings in D4, and change the device for sound and then the sound comes back. D4 only.

Didn’t have this issue before the D4 patch.

Still don’t have any problem doing this with any other game.

EDIT 2:
Since I didn’t mention it before:
Tried a ‘shutdown’ to turn it back on.
Also tried a ‘restart’ of the PS5.
In both cases it still behaves as described above.

EDIT 3 June 13:
The patch today didn’t fix this issue.

Have same issue not determined the cause yet. Seems to happen when someone joins my group and game switches to party voice chat.
Ps5 only issue for sure though.

Came here to say that since the update, when I plug my headphones there’s no sound, I have to reboot Diablo 4 with the headset plugged in

Also it might be just me but performance seems to be worse, the town portal is blurry and my laptop seems to be heating up more than usual, it normally almost doesn’t

Same here on Xbox Series X and Xbox Wireless Headset. Sound plays for a couple of seconds after loading into the character, then suddenly is gone, never to come back until game restart.

Update 06/13/2024: Now there’s no sound in Diablo IV at all anymore. Console restartet doesn’t help either. Sound is enabled in options.

Same issue on PS5, but there’s nothing unusual about the audio setup, just my HDTV hooked up to a sound bar via HDMI. The game starts with sound for a bit, but then all sound drops off at some undetermined point. (As in, I’m playing, focused on the gameplay, and eventually notice that there’s no sound again.)

Closing Diablo 4 from the PS5 Home screen then restarting it fixes the problem only for a short time, in my experience.

Dropped my controller, headphones came unplugged. Plugged them back in, all in game sound cut after that. The console party chat remained intact, this was on xbox by the way. Restting the console completely corrected the issue.

Similar problem here. When i connect my bluetooth headphone Jabra, sound dissapears. If i return to PS5 desktop, the sound is back. No pb before the last patch.

same issue here on PS5 - now we just need devs to recognize the issue and respond - good luck to us!

Same on Xbox series x

I got the same issue. If I plug the headphone and unplug the sound will be gone for good. It’s necessary to close the game to recover the sound. Game version on PS5 us 1.4.2.54444

The SIMPLEST way I’ve found. Go to Diablo Sound Settings. Speaker set up. For example mine is stereo. If I change it off of stereo then back on it works again.

Would be nice if they’d even acknowledge this. It’s a super annoying bug that came with the pet release.

Yes, that works.
Highly annoying it as to be done every time you switch back. A bug they need to fix.

Same issue here on PC. Very annoying, sound will disappear when zoning randomly. Go to setting switch device, then swith back to fix each time it happens. Only experienced this since last patch that inlcuded pets / preseason items Patch 1.4.2

Same issue ps5. Rest mode, log back in. No sound

Happens to me when I switch between headset and speakers. I have to restart the game.

It seems to be tied to headphones. If I start the game then plug them in I lose sound and have to restart. If they’re already plugged in it’s fine. I’ve seen others say the same thing. Hope they fix it next patch. Minor but annoying.

Same on xbox s series. No special hardware happens on pc too

Here to bump this up!

Symptoms: PS5
Audio is fine without headphones.

With game running I turn on my PS5 3D Headphones.

Audio for the game: all muted
Audio for the console: Can hear the menu choices and ambient sound.

If I hard close the game and run it again:
Game audio is back. All things are good.
