Please hear me out

I work and I feel this game is already enough of a grind. I left a game that I had over 3,000 hrs in because that was their concept. So hear me out please people are going to feel stuck or it’s pointless to play because it’s impossible to get to where they can enjoy the full powers of their chosen class. Why would anyone want to buy a season pass and not be able to reach the full potential of the class. I like multiple classes by the time the season is close to an end I have one of each class, I am still refining them and working the paragon board. Look the focus should be on QOL, cool powers/skills, fun things to destroy with them and the ability for us to be able to obtain this from all the different classes at a reasonable time before the season ends so we can enjoy them. Then on to the next season. QOL wise more stash tabs, more symbols for items, new skills/effects, instead of time consuming grinds new character class to work up, and make blue/yellow items useful or just get rid of them. Maybe you use affixes instead. Yellow you have one, blue 2 and legendary 3. If the game becomes impossible for people to enjoy the very things that brought them to play it because they can’t achieve it. They are not going to play it anymore and neither can I.

doesnt really sound like you are short on time. Dont worry, you do fine in a 3 month long season.

I disagree. My only issue with their changes is they didn’t think it well enough through. The same level of power needs to be achievable, just a longer journey to get there. Instead what they did, because it’s lazy and easy for them, was just nerf everything that was fun into the ground and increase difficulty across the board at the same time. Nothing about that is creative or fun for anyone.

QoL issues Would be nice. But in my view that requires class balance to be there. Which it is not, so can’t support that request till class balance is fixed.

If you’re satisfied with it, or just given up, that’s fine. But how can they focus on anything when they keep breaking and can’t fix anything?

Now hear some of the others out

We don’t want to feel sped-up for the sake of it.

Some of us want to take our time, find a “pebble” if need be and use it in a cool way (if possible). Not rush to the very busted powercreep superman phase, I want to see what my “mystery pebble” can do. We want a steady diet of both struggle and satisfaction, we want to REMEMBER a fight or two (along with a reward or 2 if possible)

Why ?, because we don’t have the time to play even THAT MUCH that you do, more over I want to play my own game as opposed to follow somebody else’s Excel spreadsheet work

The sacrifice is reasonable. Don’t want to beat a boss to get some piece of loot exactly as written in some “script”. In fact, the fact that beating 200 times was a “prerequisite” some would consider as a waste of time by default

More over don’t want to feel even FORCED to do so

You remember the old 90’s Cadillac & Dinosaur flippers or Golden Axe or whatever ?., That’s what you pay for => your “entrance” to do your best shot (not having the entire game to be “bowed down” to you so you can beat it all)

Whether you do it 30 times or 300 to “git gud” or use a 10 coin single cycle to get as far as possible or even “spend a fortune” for your character to become a super dino, it’s up to you, BUT => the game should feel like a game, not an endless wave-loot creation/recycling simulator

And the reason why is simple => we don’t want to even feel COMPELLED to go all the way (if not required to do so), but we want the 80% of the game that we get to beat or try out to feel like an 80% of the game (not 20%), see what I did there ?

Yeah, the game should NOT follow the Wilfredo Paretto’s principle in terms of status completion per gametime played overall… It might be a thing for those that want to battle for “prestige”, but that’s a minority overall. Perhaps not on the forums here but definitely in real life I’d argue that be the case so

Not everyone does play for the prestige or having it all, so don’t make it feel compelling in the first place to have it all, don’t force it down our throats

I would rather see an item that drops off of world boss & treasure goblins that works like the orb of chance 50% chance to destroy 50% chance to upgrade white to a unique of that base.

First we have to address a few things.

What are your goals for any given season?

Do you attempt to finish the seasonal objectives or do you have other personal objectives you want to complete?

On average, per day or week, how long do you have to play? 2-3 hours a day, or less? 14-21 hours a week?

Did you play the PTR and actually test out the leveling progression along with the endgame progression?

Do you want to reach T4 and higher pits or are you ok in a lower difficulty?

Ask yourself these questions and get back to us.

lol fair, it was over the course of 10 years I guess I should have elaborated.

haha okay, well that context was missing

Still, dont worry too much. Diablo 4 will still be the fastest arpg to play even with these changes.

If it was for me personally theyd slow it down quite a bit more, but im not against compromising =)

It sounds like this game isn’t for you. The game is setup in a way that, urges you, so to speak, to complete everything by the end of the season but that’s not entirely possible UNLESS you not only blast the content but you also need to trade in order to speed up the acquisition of items that would normally take a long time to farm for. That much desired “slow progression, long grind” only works if seasons weren’t a thing, but they are.

The optimal way to play the game as it currently stands (factoring seasons), is to complete the battle pass, put it down and come back next season. In order to do that, you pick the best meta build so you can complete every objective without struggling. You don’t necessarily need to be plvl300/glvl100. Or even have the mythics for your build. Yes, this means that your character’s power never reaches it’s full potential.

It’s just the way things are. It takes more time to fully develop it than the season lasts. So that makes certain things true no matter what. Only people who have 18hrs to play per day (and actually do so) can realistically max a character out within a season.

  1. Utilize all the skills/powers that I enjoy in each of the classes, continue to feel the excitement as I see their abilities get more and more powerful through a reasonable progression process suitable for everyone, and destroy demons/stuff! I like the destruction of those Mordor looking towers too. The sound of them crashing down is fun.
  2. I do enjoy completing the seasonal objectives, but with the goal of achieving my seasonal items along with my pass. Devs make awesome cosmetics I wish the emotes were just as cool they appear very dull in my opinion.
  3. It varies I’m enlisted in the US military so maybe 10 hrs…ish a week, being generous.
  4. I did not play the PTR which is a fair question I am going off the notion of articles I read saying the goal was to see only 10% of players make it to tier 4 and progression increasing back to what it was in a previous season which was 19 hrs to get to lvl 60, but with even an additional 2 hrs on top of that for season 8.
  5. I enjoy reaching tier 4 for sure better odds on Ubers, more boss unique drops, GAs, Runes. Pits I get why they exist. But, how many times can you do the same thing over and over and over again before you are burnt out. It’ starts to become stale and feels forced down your throat. Maybe if that wasn’t the sole means to progress your glyphs. Maybe find a way to work them in to the boss battles as well?

I don’t understand this obsession with blue, white and yellow items. I love seeing my character with only legendaries and ubers. We can have more tiers of special items, but not using trash.

Good point I agree i really should word this differently I don’t mean max them out. I mean being able to get to a state to where even though you will never max your character, but to one in which you have achieved and earned full superiority in tier 4, bosses fights and so on. I understand not everyone wants that. However, the same type of response can be given to them. If you don’t want full superiority don’t use mythics, don’t level your gear, make it challenging for themselves. It’s easier to do it that way than the ladder. I would imagine the devs want everyone to play their game not just a certain base of players considering the game is their livelihood. I know I would take the extra income

Here’s the reality: not everyone has the time/stamina/fortitude to reach the upper echelons of a season. That is for people who don’t have anything else to do or don’t want to do anything else.

For everyone else, the season should be about completing the season journey and battle pass, along with whatever else you find fun that you can complete in the time you’re able to spend.

“But i want to get my character to full power!” Then keep an ongoing eternal character.

“But blizzard keeps ruining the eternal experience!” They sure do. Suck it up and adapt… or make a conscious choice to not subject yourself to that.

D4 is not the only game a person can play. D4 is FAR from the best game a person can play. D4 is not going to get better any time soon… if ever. D4 is likely to remain in this teeter totter cycle for the foreseeable future, until Blizzard decides there aren’t enough players left for the MTX chase… or they get distracted by something new and shiny.

This is the game… until Blizzard thinks of a different way to try to trick you into seeing more cosmetics for the fomo. Even if they see your feedback and think it’s the greatest thing they’ve ever read AND decide to devote resources to it, I promise you that they will execute it in the dumbest way possible.

The problem with that is you’re constantly tasked with what kind of Aspects you’re equipping (at all times possible)

Oh wait, did I lose my Aspect of Vampiric Curse ?, damn it, where to put it now… Stuff like that

IF aspects weren’t a mandatory thing for every single item - things would look kinda cooler IMO

From that standpoint - any dial down is a good thing in my book, cause the game is way too chaotic as is, there are a lot of items, a lot of aspects, a lot of uniques, and that’s great

But need to dial down the “baseline”, i.e. increase the potency of non-specials, therefore reduce the need to equip them all (or at least at times to equip them all)

Find a nice/specific/different role for all

  • Aspects - empower a skill
  • Blue - empowers blue nodes on paragon
  • Rare - empowers skill trees
  • Tempered - empower baseline stats of skills we use
  • Uniques => as are, get/unlock a combination you never thought of being possible
  • Socketable => more than 2 sockets

THAT would work, mainly cause not exhausting at all times possible

Geeee…lack of reasonable progression drives away all but the small percentage who are actually grinders or RMT’ers. Who woulda thought?

/sarcasm off

Oh ok I see what you’re saying. Yeah in that respect, for Season 7 you can get full superiority in t4. It’s never been easier. In Season 8, that’s going to be changing. So if you want that experience, you’re going to have to do it now & not a month from now.
