Was having a ton of fun playing different builds based on what gear I had gotten then it suddenly start to cost gold that is escalating every level and I’m guessing will get absurd at high level. Stop trying to be PoE you aren’t going to be able to out PoE them embrace what Diablo has become which is largely an arcade drop in drop out arpg that you can play whatever build you have gear for and doesn’t have a huge time investment to play what you want.

Yeah prices are crazy. I’m assuming gold acquisition will ramp up pretty heavily too though. I mean I’ve been smashing every little barrel and what not and I only got 23k’ish right now. Costs 9k to upgrade a weapon, so unless they intend for you to be gold starved I hope the gold starts flowing, end of the day though anyone regularly active in these type of games tends to end up with more gold than they can spend.

Depends if they intend that to be a limiting factor which since they seem to be trying to go to the poe style of making it annoying to play more than one build seems likely

I agree 100%. In a dev interview they said at some point it will be better to make a new character of the same class rather than pay for respec. What an absolutely asinine system. You’re 100% correct about them trying to be hardcore like PoE when that’s not what this franchise is now. Free/cheap respecs to play around with lots of builds is by far the most enjoyable.

Lol remake a character instead of paying for a respec. That has got to be the dumbest take since “do you guys not have phones” or"you think you do but you don’t". If it ever comes to the point where my character is permanently ruined I’d rather just quit the game and play something else that actually respects my time.
Between the fact there are multiple classes, and potentially new seasons to reset progress… why the hell do I need even more excuses to remake characters? What existed already is enough. This is almost as bad as the original launch of D2 where if you spent your attributes or talents wrong you actually did permanently screw over your character. I think it took them several years to put in respec potions and you could only get like three or something… limiting this stuff is not fun or smart game design.
Especially since you have no idea how this stuff performs UNTIL you actually get to use it.

I think there should be a rare item you can find that will give you a free respec. Would make you grind and also work for the respec if you dont have the gold to do it. Or even get 4 items to create one respect gem or something.

Have a timer then maybe? Otherwise PVP will be just go in get wrecked quickly go out change spec, go back in other guy does the same and back and forth.

i am at lvl 17 and doesnt cost any gold to respec ??? what lvl till it starts costing gold
at 25 it costs like 2750 gold to respec and 12k to take one legendary affix out of an item

I hope it eventually caps out at a certain percentage of the gold you have.
edit: There needs to be some penalty for respecing.

it doesnt really matter …
not like you can try paragon but you cannot reset paragon boards … at least it wasnt possible last year.
Also not like the boards are something special, not much is build related, but some nodes are … it will prevent you from using any other build …
D4 is very restricted … only creating an illusion of choosing the build. Later in the game you will have to create another character for different build unless they do it like in D3.
And since they copied 80% of the game and system from D3 … i dont see why not. The ability to choose and not be locked was good … i actually hated this in D2.
