I’m terrified with all the outcry for “endgame” on these forums that the developers are going to end up adding some “greater rifts” like activity that’s infinitely scaling and leads to people doing trillions of damage again. I have a feeling that a large portion of this player base consists of people that really only know Diablo 3 and that’s what they’re expecting and begging for. I seriously hope that doesn’t happen though as that will be the fastest way to get me to abandon Diablo 4.
I urge the community to make their recommendations for alternative “endgame” options that aren’t infinitely scaling.

So, they should ignore everyone else, and make the game solely for you because you find big numbers scary?

I also don’t like that system in D3.

They already have them in the game, only it’s in the form of Mythic+. A lot of us would rather have an alternative where we get scaling dungeons without the affixes. The rewards for the NMDs could be slightly higher than the regular scaling dungeons (whatever they end up being called). Many of us just don’t like the dungeon affix system and just want to slay demons, not play the affixes.

Add rifts, and have monsters drop Obols. I just want to kill stuff.

I’m looking for depth in a game, not big shiny numbers and I don’t feel like I’m alone. I feel like the community is deeply divided on what to expect in the Diablo franchise. The problem will probably only be exacerbated by them making the game an MMO.

I heard that the Devs also said they want to add sets like in D3 on Twitter.
It’s not looking good.
D4 is being turned into D3 now. D4 was good while it lasted I guess.

Its more going to morph into a mix of d3 with a lot of Immortal systems.
Greater Rifts have nothing to do with infinite scaling
You can have one without the other
And GRifts are much better than current dungeons, for several reasons
So yeah, i hope they put GRifts

Sets are fine unless they really are like D3 where those are basically the only option as they give 10000% more damage to x

Hard disagree. Sets make the game worse not better.

D2 had sets and i dont see anyone saying D2 was bad
Sets are not the issue. One particular implementation of them, with 20000% bonus, was an issue
I guess some people cant get past even basic things
Even in D3 Sets have more build diversity, although i dont thik giving those absurd numbers is a good idea

End-Game Ideas:
- Forced Solo Dungeons
- Weekly/Monthly Challenges
- Community Challenges
- Infinite Wave Challenges (how many waves can you take on, which resets after x days)
- Horse-racing (You are all allowed to hate me for this)
Rewards could obviously be cosmetics, premium currency, guaranteed unique/legendary drop, week long buffs (xp boost, loot rarity improvements, damage boost, etc…)
I only took 3-4 minutes to think of all these things, but if someone would be committed to finding good end-game content, it shouldn’t be hard and by all means, have rifts as well, those who like it should enjoy it, but there should be all these alternatives ones.
Also, as I was writing this last bit, the challenge with the wave of enemies would be fun, if after every 5 waves, you get to pick some extra ability and couple it with something that adds to the challenge; gain 25% max HP, but enemies’ dodge chance increase, every 10 seconds a meteor falls, but enemies can crit more often. Just creative ideas.

I prefer rifts (kill, loot, kill more, loot, boss, loot) better than these nightmare dungeons; kill all enemies, free X prisioners, destroy 3 idols, get two rocks, run in circles like a moron, very funny indeed

Their version of a greater rift will be a monument in town that randomly selects a NMD of a chosen tier for you to run.
Then they can add in more NMD tiers, so it goes up to 150 and typically outscales the capability of a solo player, giving the illusion of infinite scaling to those that don’t bother to pay attention.
It’s already effectively the same, and that’s all it will take to make it literally the same.
D2 is bad. I would never play D2. I have watched people play it. It’s bad from my perspective.
The devs agree with this sentiment, and have demonstrated or stated this a number of times already.

Both D2 and D3 are far superior games than current D4

No they are not. Hard disagree. D4 is better.
