True. I am disgusted by peopleās aggression regardless of their beliefs.
If I loved the game Iād be playing it right now instead of watching Netflix and scrolling forums. Idk what all the d4 lovers are doing on the forum, makes no sense
Some people canāt play at work but can have access to their phone during their shift or on break.
Mad respect Runez! Good to see someone with a mature brain ^^
Heres what I dont get:
People that hate or dislike the game have ample reason to be on here providing feedback. Itās a product they paid for, after all. And improvements stem from complaints.
But what about the people who like the game? Why are they here arguing with people that they love the game? What purpose does that serve. Itās not like thereās positive feedback. A āhereās what works and hereās what doesnāt.ā Itās just āI love this game and youre a hater, go back to PoE or D2.ā
If ya like the game, play it. Dont argue with people who dont like the game about why they are wrong.
I do agree the vitriol is ridiculous. But the above is in a way why. People who like the game on these forums are openly confrontational, and constantly post passive aggressive threads that have no value besides naysaying and belittling people who have feedback to give.
I think they have a right to disagree with the complainers so that changes they personally donāt want are not implemented.
Everyone who is honest knows this game has a lot of flaws. However Iāve seen some suggestions that would literally make me quit if implemented and after dedicating 26 years of my life to this series that scares me. Itās my favorite series. I have a room in my houses dedicated to Diablo (not Blizzard just Diablo) so the game means a lot to me.
But Iām not going to bash someone I disagree with. Iām a father of 3 and have many years on me it just isnāt appropriate for me to bash someone just for being different.
And I can see why it would feel personal to have a series that you love be attacked.
But like I said, most people that proclaim to love the game arent on here attacking feedback or ideas with substantive counters. They belittle, naysay, tell people to leave and play other games, anything except actually engaging with the points.
I agree with you btw. Everyone should be respectful and civil, and theres room for discourse and feedback on both sides.
But I dont even see positive gameplay feedback. I see twitch numbers which go up and down. I see sales numbers which dont say much about the state of the game. I see people claiming characters made = people playing, even though thats dishonest.
It feels like bait coming from the positive camp 99 percent of the time.
If we want a more positive community, maybe we should engage with eachother more honestly even if we disagree.
We all know the negative feedback on the state of the game. Whats the positive feedback? Because I donāt see anyone who supposedly loves the game giving it. Those people are entirely preoccupied with inflamming and picking arguments and laying out bait premises for high post threads. (you know who you are)
Donāt get me wrong I donāt love D4. I love the series. This game needs work.
The things I do like about this game is:
The art
The music
The story
The open world(change of pace was refreshing)
So basically the foundation of it. The balance and gameplay is all meh to me.
I really do like the overall atmosphere the game provides.
The problem is negativity sells and positivity doesnāt.
If you DIS-agree with something, you are FAR more likely to engage in a āsubstantiveā manner than if you merely agree with it. For example, this topic of mine:
Got 3 likes, about 70 views, and I think one reply? And itās almost a month old.
Now compare to this one:
made today, half an hour ago, and has 31 replies.
Negativity creates content. Corporations know it. Thatās why they have algorithms dictating what content you are exposed to. This isnāt tin-foil-hattery, they literally tell you this if you request the fine print on it. (They have to by law in the USA, not sure how it works abroad)
I thought the first areas music is some of the best music ive heard in an ost in a long time!
Like I said the atmosphere is there they just did not nail the gameplay. Maybe itās just too hard to make an MMOARPG? But you wouldnāt think so since PoE is almost that just not as open world.
Iām not a dev. I dunno the solution honestly. There has been several ideas that could help thrown around here but they are always overshadowed with negativity.
A few things that would make me leave?
No seasons/ladders. At this point ever since D2 had ladders itās just the main reason I play.
Them not moderating the game enough and allowing the easy console exploits to flood over into the PC world which is a very big possibility with crossplay. Console D3 was flooded with cheating.
Yeah the cheating is a tough one. Blizz and Activision have terrible track records with cheaters. Warzone has aimbot running rampant for years. WoW botters are currently turning the games economy inside out and its been this way for years.
Obviously D2 had its history. I think D3 console being offline allowed for an added layer of shenanigans. D4 luckily mitigates that.
Iāll be taking an involuntary 3 month break from Oct-Jan. Iām playing now because I enjoy hardcore and āendgameā D4 is something easy to throw on for 2-4 hours and not have to worry about losing momentum if I cant log in for a couple days.
I would like the devs to get ahead of the players for once. And I think that will make or break this game. If devs are always reactionary, addressing negative feedback and fixing things, the tone will still be one of pervasive negativity. If devs can push out the most pertinent fixes quickly, and get ahead of players and surprise us with some positive stuff and cool content we didnt have to beg and shout for, the whole vibe of the game could shift.
Kinda like sending back a steak at a restaurant. Once I gotta send it back, the second steak can only excite me so much. The first steak is where youre gonna wow me.
I prefer HC as well.
I like D4 and am still playing it quite regularly, but two ideas that I think would drastically help the game:
1.) Stop trying to be Goldilocks
Right now the game is half MMO, half ARPG, and more or less failing at retaining fans of either camp. Some people want more social aspects, better quest logs, etc. while others want more mob density, procedural-generated dungeons, etc. These things are typically mutually exclusive ā kinda hard to cater to having 40+ people perpetually around you, if you also have 300 mobs on the screen. You know what I mean?
Pick a path and see it through to the end. The porridge isnāt cold enough for one camp, nor hot enough for the other, and I donāt think enough of us are named Goldilocks for it to continue to be profitable to cater to the middle ground crew.
2.) Hire actual coders and let them cook
I donāt know exactly who was responsible for coding this game, nor do I know if they were given appropriate resources (Time, Money, etc) to do the job. But whoever the buck stops at, needs to be fired. Get them out and fix the problem. Iāve heard that itās because they copy-pastaād a lot from D3 ā that should NEVER happen. Iāve heard that itās because the CEOās and/or shareholders are calling the shots ā that should NEVER happen. Iāve heard itās because the game was in development hell for 10 years so the game got rushed ā that should NEVER happen.
Get good talent in and let them do their job. Blizzard North would release games āWhen Theyāre Done.ā Go back to that. It might not be popular with higher ups but you know what IS popular with them? Money. When you have an innovative and unique product, it will sell, because itās innovative and unique. It might take 13 years instead of 10, but we wouldnāt be having āall players load all stashes into individual RAMā if we spent a few extra years doing it the RIGHT way.
Iām going to try and stay positive overall and not attack the staff. But changes definitely need to be made.
Too many posts are like āthis scam is a steaming pile of dog pooā instead of āIām not a fan of such and such features and this is how I suggest they fix themā.
Exactly. Iām going to stop acknowledging such posts. Iām too old to be having conversations that are similar to ones I had when I was decades younger.
I tried explaining this to some forum goers a week or two ago.
Basically got compared to Stalin or something idk, but everyone was on me for trying to stifle āfreedom of speechā and control what people can and canāt say or some such.
Hereās the deal and itās a piece of wisdom I got from a convict actually(Iām a criminal profiler and criminal therapist by trade).
āEveryone is all for freedom of speech as long as it has no consequences but where I come from you have freedom of speech but you also have the freedom to get punched in the mouth for your ignorance.ā
Now, I donāt agree much with the violence part but it summed up the real world. People want to do whatever they want but they donāt want to face consequences for their actions.
