Open Beta feedback

Here is my feedback on the beta weekend as a casual pc player.

I played necro and sorc to lvl 25 and completed all side quests etc. But however, to the feedback.

WORLD:

  • Could be more densely packed. Time to time the world felt really empty, almost dead.
  • World events were nice but too little change on them.

Other than that, it felt ok and of course we don’t know how the rest of the world will be.

QUESTS:

  • Rinse and repeat, similar quests all the time.
  • Now way to know which quests you have to do for the completion since there is no quest markers on the map when they open.

Which brings us to the map.

MAP:

  • I am used to having a huge freaking map open on top of my screen when I play arpg games. It is just a quality of life for me, simple as that. Now you have the map window open, which won’t let you move or see anything when you have it open. This is a major flaw on the map.
  • Different regions could be named on the map. Just to have some clarification.
  • Show opened quest markers on the map when you zoom to a region.

UI:

Oh the UI. It is just, well you know.

  • Character screen feels like it’s from a mobile game. Why can’t we have all the character information visible at a glance. Now you have to get first to your crafting material (which makes no freaking sense) to your stats.
  • Inventory could be a totally different window, we can open the character window next to it if we need to.
  • The UI is horrible, it does not serve other than console players. There is no scaling, no possibility to open more hotbars and that was painful with necro, since you had to have your minion spell on the hotbar to have the minions up. That eats half of the damn hotbar and leaves you with very limited actions. I had to change spells during fights cause there was no room for everything. This is a flawed system. At least give us the option to add more hotbars if you are using a pc. And scaling would be nice as well, now you have a big sticker on the middle or on the left of your screen.
  • Movement, attack and action key all in the same. I tried having the attack separate but this eats yet again more very very very limited hotbar space.
  • Give us a chance to track several quests.
  • We should be able to zoom out more.

DUNGEONS / CELLARS:

  • Cellars are pointless. Simple as that.
  • Dungeons are simply boring. They are all the same and there is no change.
  • Dungeons could be generated so they wouldn’t be all the same. This is done in other games so why not in D4.
  • The backtracking is terrible and eats motivation.
  • Give us the possibility to teleport to the dungeon entrance once we have discovered it.

Other than that, I enjoyed my time with D4 this week. I was hesitant to buy the game yet but it turned out nice. There were few times when the quest or cutscene just stopped advancing and I had to restart the game but that was expected.
