Ok sorcs what build are you going with!

Im doing another sorc and stoked in season five i am think of fireball but there are actually many fun options! What builds are you all planning?

Clearly, I have to play Sorcerer as well!
Since I haven’t done any Sorcerer yet since way back in Season 4!
My plan is to find a cool unique, and then to go from there…

For leveling I’m likely going to start off with Arc Lash with a mind toward morphing into Chain Lightning since they are giving CL items in season rewards.

Hard to say for endgame since there are several that look viable, but none tested since post PTR changes.

it was hard for me to chose what my wonderful shall be this season. But im going to level to 60sih with a level guide from maxroll starting off doing chain lighting. Ive heard its a good was to try out that build (i usually have always played frost builds in past seasons) still be able to level and feel good (unless u do something wrong but since im using a guid for that lets hope i read right lol jk) but then endgame im torn and am leaning more and more to fireball

i think in the end ill have 2 sorcs. one tha tis whatever my fav to play is and one that is w/e can smash high pit and uber bosses. just like i did in S4 with my beloved FO for fun time, and the immortal firebolt for pit pushing, Lilith and uber carries lol

I LOVED FO in season 4. But i felt that pit/uber boss issues with it. SO sadly i was one of those stubborn people who in S4 made a second FO and tempered over and over til i had super fireshield. lol i know shame on me for that. i think i will start (once i hit 60) fireball because that has really caught my eye for some reason. Its a small season if i have time to level a 2nd sorc oiy my love for FO will prob take that one.

lol don’t feel shame… I folded and made the firebolt out of pit frustration lol. tired of running in circles waiting for stagger so I could actually damage the boss w/o getting 1 shot. a bit boring but also somewhat satisfying to go toe to toe with a boss and laugh off their damage. especially The Butcher in NMD 100!

I’m gonna continue my Firewall build that I started just 2 days ago for S4. It’s based on my S2 and S3 build, except this time it’s gonna use Flameweaver with Firebolt (not the Firebolt meta build where the focus is on attack speed and Basic skill)

They still dont have much synergy with a meteor build yet, but I am going to try to make a build using the Starfall Coronet and a buffed firebolt using the new Shard unique sword and the buffed basic attack Unique gloves.

I am goin for fireball/meteor!

It doesn’t matter what build…sorcerer always get carried or killed.

I dropped a 4GA CL pants today, though Im going to wait to see from others how it does before I try to theory craft the paragon board for it.

Im a PVP player so I will go with Firewall build. I use Blizz build to grind and get gear for my firewall build. Both characters are now in eternal realm where I hope people are still playing PVP lol.

I played my usual Firewall build. So far I am liking it and I can feel my Sorc is stronger compare to previous seasons.

I hit level 60+ and in WT4 after playing 8 hours. At this point I saw one guy who was already level 80 lol.

At level 60 in WT4 I am clearing helltides mobs really fast. I am able to 1v1 that level 70+ champion when you have that level 3 threat meter. This is all with Sacred gear, untempered, with a haphazard Paragon for leveling. I was able to 1v1 Varshan in WT4 but it was a close fight.

I am almost level 70 and now with Ancestral gear. I haven’t tested my new gear yet because I had to take a break.

I’m doing a Firewall which is my fav sorc leveling build - but I’m trying to lean into hydra as well. So the plan is to dump all the crap on the ground and run around basically.

I’ll be honest the burning instinct cap is brutal. FW doesn’t really feel stronger even with all the buffs. I need to get my glyphs more online though so maybe I’m missing damage from that.

I probably need to step back and re-evaluate what’s going on with it. I can clear NM 45/46 though so at least I can farm 925’s easily at level 74.

played CL with the new unique, then moved to fire-ball. Even tho my unique power is far lower compare to the CL build, I do dozen time more damage.
My CL had lvl 925 wand and offhand, my fire ball staff is at 820, and the gloves at 720.

My gear is awful, I only have the uniques (lvl 73). The rest doesn’t have the right tempers or legendary powers.

CL is far more tanky, but I think the Auxial pants are bugged. Something is wrong with the mana draw calculation as all my mana sometime vanish even when I only have two chain lightning out. It might be related to the twice chain lightning cast affix.

Summarizing: I’m having a blast.

My comparison is mostly from S2 and S3 and 2 days on S4.

S5 Firewall vs S2 and S3 is definitely stronger. S5 VS S4 early game feels slightly stronger but didn’t get a chance to do endgame with it in S4.

I think by itself Firewall is still not the end of all things. It needs supplemental skills and make it secondary. I kinda think of it like Blizzard where Blizz itself is nothing without the spikes (not sure if that changed in S4).

Edit: In S2 I had to supplement Firewall with a lot of uniques and at one time that gigantic Glyph (ToB). In S3 similar. Add up the Seasonal powers from those seasons.

But in S5 I am okay with 1 unique. It’s hard to quantify but I will know more once I progressed to the end game. I have old videos of my gameplay in YouTube during S2 and some in S3 doing the old NM 100s and AoZ, and so I will have a good baseline for comparison for my build.

every build i want to play needs multiple mythic uniques to even work correctly. so lame.

Nothing has changed. Sorcerer is still the weakest class…
Thank Goodness I did not pay battlepass.
until hey make the sorcerer as the class it should be… they wont see a dime from me.

I have a super cheesey leveling-into-endgame build that I tested in PTR and am going to use again now:

  1. Frostbolt into Frozen Orb.
  2. Stack Life Per Hit items along the way.
  3. Straight up to Hydra, Enhanced Hydra, then Summoned Hydra.

Congratulations! With even modest life per hit, you are now immortal against leveling content.

  1. At Level 15, move a single point into Incinerate, and put Frozen Orb in the first enchantment slot.

Fun fact: The FO enchantment procs from casting a non basic spell.
Incinerate is a non-basic spell.
Tapping Incinerate costs 4 mana.
Proccing FO from the enchantment therefore costs ~13 mana rather than 40
Congratulations! You can now spam FO at level 15.

  1. I like to throw in Blizzard at this point. Drop Hydra and a Blizzard, then batter Incinerate to fling orbs around. Everything freezes, everything becomes vulnerable, everything dies.

Keep prioritising Life On Hit on items as you go. I was able to get to WT3 at level 18 with this build (well, I was level 21 by the time I finished the capstone dungeon).

Don’t bother with +Max Life affixes. They’ll only slow you down. Do bother with %healing received.

  1. At 30, swap from Frost Bolt to Fire Bolt and pop that in the other enchantment slot.
  2. What you’re really looking for is Starlight Aspect. Get that sucker on an amulet ASAP. Infinite health has become infinite mana, too!

You should now be able to ditch Incinerate and just spam Blizzard and FO as you please. If you can’t, stack more Life On Hit, or use Serpentine Aspect for a third cast of Hydra.

You should also try replacing Fire Bolt enchantment with Hydra, because you’ll be proccing the bonus hydra heads every three seconds or so. Extra hydra also means more hits, more healing, more mana…

Aspects to look out for include:

  • Crowded Sage - You’ll be getting hit a lot, so you’ll be dodging a lot, and each dodge is 20% health and 40 mana.
  • Frozen Orbit - because 120% FO damage is a no brainer
  • Tenuous Destruction - because you won’t be needing any defensive spells
  • Elementalist’s Aspect - because you’ll always be shooting with 100 mana, so you have up to +40% bonus crit chance on every FO (or 60% if put it on the amulet and move Starlight elsewhere)
  • Accelerating Aspect - because attack speed applies to Hydra and so your health/mana income will increase to accommodate the extra casting speed
  • Ancient Flame - This should go on an amulet. More attack speed = more hits, more healing, more mana…

Also look out for the +hydra head temper, and chuck one on a weapon/focus. And the double frozen orb chance temper is fun too (it applies to the enchantment procs)

Endgame Shopping List

  • Temerity Pants - Absolute godsend.
  • Endurant Faith - Just LOL. World boss AoE mechanics barely clear your sinuses.
  • Crown of Lucion - It’s 75% damage for +150% mana cost, and we literally don’t care. You can spam three 100 mana FO a second.

Sadly you’ll have to lose an offensive aspect at this point. I haven’t been able to decide between Tenuous Destruction and Elementalist’s - I guess it’s easier to solve Crit Chance elsewhere? Otherwise you might as well put a defensive on the bar which feels a bit like selling out…

Fractured Winterglass? Mmm, not sure. Maybe. I’ve got one, but I’m not sure it helps at the moment, because:

  • Extra ranks of Conjuration Mastery
  • More conjurations to trigger CM
  • More chance for double FO
    But:
  • You have to move Ancient Flame elsewhere, costing you 25% attack speed
  • No life per hit from that slot
  • You have to lose Elementalist’s aspect
  • You need to devote some space to Lucky Hit

I wasn’t able to gain a noticeable benefit switching to it with this particular build. YMMV and I would love to hear how it’s done properly, if you get the chance.
