How do y’all feel about endgame builds that don’t use any basic skills? I’m going through all of the endgame builds on maxroll’s website and I’m noticing a lot of them don’t use basic skills. I understand the pro’s of freeing up an action bar slot for another ability, but I guess I wasn’t expecting to be resource capped so soon.
Seems like basic skills are almost exclusive to leveling.

Druids is forced to use builders due to the spirit resource.

A website that hasn’t tested hardly any of the builds so they just don’t know. I’m sure you could make a super juiced basic skill build just people haven’t done it or talked about it yet.(much at least)
Yea I suppose. I’m coming from playing WoW and I enjoy a rotation/priority. Like at least using different skills on rotation feels good. And I’m not talking about maintaining buffs either. It’s the sort of things I enjoyed about Lost Ark’s combat style.
I was leaning towards going Barb as my first class but the WW playstyle is so boring.
As someone mentioned before, Druid is kind of forced to use basic skill for resource generation which I think is cool but I feel like eventually they will move away from it. Seems like Rogue might be the only class that consistently would have a “rotation” if they want to generate combo points.
So don’t use WW. You don’t need to play the cutting edge meta build. (And that will likely get nerfed ayway)

I dont’ think it will get nerfed it’s kinda fine atm.
Lot of skills, can make a leap barb, death blow, kick just feel it out with gear and synergies.
Basics have too low of dmg, if your class can drop basics, it should.
I would kinda like to see the fury generation of shouts get nerfed actually. It seems a bit silly to run 3 shouts in every build just for the fury gen and as the OP mentioned not even need a basic builder because of them. Even the HotA endgame build on maxroll doesn’t use a basic fury generator because the shouts have fury covered.

I mean you also need the damage reduction. Also need shouts for Unbridled Rage since that is where a huge chunk of damage is coming from for WW. If you can’t maintain WW that isn’t fun either. When it cost 100% more fury need need all those generators.
Well, most of the time, optimal builds are figured out weeks or months after release.
There’s no way in hell I’m blindly trusting the builds of streamers, lol. I planned my build the second paragons were known, and it hasn’t changed one bit.

basic skill is your builder. The only way you don’t want it is if you have so much resource gen that you can’t run out.
Yea that’s what I was thinking too. If it were a support build that would be cool. But having half of your action bars permanently occupied by shouts feels bad.
3 shouts is the reason you were invited to the party. Druid and Barb are buffers/support classes plain and simple
I prefer builds to have basic attacks/generators. D3 builds that didn’t run generators were always frustrating to me, and often didn’t work until you have all the supporting gear. What’s even worse in Diablo 4 is you have to spend 2 skill points to get passed the first skill node, so they’d be wasted not running the skill.
Putting a passive choice on the first node would alleviate that issue, but may be bad for new players who might pick that and have no moves for a few levels
they certainly can be, but shouldn’t feel forced to be

3 shouts is still the most optimal playstyle for solo too. Passive hp and fury regen, huge DR, resource regen, berserking, movesepeed…its perma uptime too with the right aspects.
They do pretty much no damage so if you can avoid using them I would recommend it.
I wanted to make an arc lash sorc, no supporting glyphs or uniques for it tho.
Then why are they currently considered solo end game monsters and PVP masters?
Because what they said was nonsense.
