New Helm Pointless? More Info Needed

Does the new helm make key passives apply to all dmg types and skill types?

Hey All, Other than overall being very disappointed in the severe lack of changes in balance for the druid, especially the last few seasons we have also had pretty meh uniques which really change nothing. Last season we had an amulet which just doubled the dmg of a key passive, and now we get a helm which gives us 2 additional key passives, but this effect wont even work unless they forgot to tell us something…

  • While in Human form, Critical Striking enemies with Nature Magic 400-200 times grants you Anima of the Forest for 10 seconds.
  • While infused with Anima of the Forest you gain the Perfect Storm and Earthen Might Key Passives.

So this implies that for this to work at all we need a build which stacks crit while in human form and generally hits or attacks fast. With all the wolf buffs lately this build generally doesn’t exist but on top of that lets read these 2 key passives we gain…

Perfect Storm- Storm skills that you cast grant 2 spirit and deal x60% increased dmg when dmging vuln, imob or slowed enemy.
Earthen Might - Lucky Hit - damaging enemies with earth skills has UP TO a 15% chance to - Restore all Spirit , - Auto Crits for 5 seconds

So in order to benefit from this item we must choose a key passive other than these 2 that doesnt involve shifting at all, leaving natures fury or pets.

Pets cant do earth damage so this is off the table, and wolves can gain lighting damage but it doesnt make the skill a “storm skill”. This leaves a build where we can use Natures fury, dont stack crit and need spirit gen from earthen might while using earth skills, but could still use storm skills dmg. With the mjolnic ryng and cata we never need spirit for any build (OP) and we need to stack crit anyway to get the 200 stacks and proc our free key passives.

At the end of the day this helm is pretty pointless and wont apply to pretty much any build, especially late game builds unless they forgot to mention that those key passives also apply to all dmg types and skill types now.

built for natures fury, the nature fury procs count as both earth and storm, so those will be buffed by both of the other key passives or they should. the wording of the storm key passive is “that you cast” which could be an indicattor it will only work when casting storm and having earth as your 40% off-cast, (probably not intentionally maybe it will work or need a fix…) i just would rather they buff those 3 passives instead of making this helm, like how have we gotten to this point where earthen might needed to be so bad to be indirectly nerfed by infinite resource, and easy crit.

storm’s companion does make wolves a storm skill also, just a fyi, not sure if it procs fury tho never tried it. i suspect creeper will have an earth transformation aspect coming, based on the others getting storm ones but who knows when or if this would be cool with it :stuck_out_tongue:

Maybe some other fix which as not in patch notes will creep in. Maybe storm wolf and crowd will work . Otherwise a NS build with tornados or earth skill will be the only ones functioning. Something like trample slide is hard because of going to bear sometimes but i would had love that one to be on top again the sound effects is just mesmerizing

My guess is that it is a companion build helm that will couple with Stormcrow Aspect and Storm’s Companion pants.

The problem inherently is that you need crit to get the stacks so you can get this buff for infinite crit? Also every build runs Mjlnic ring for the dmg but solves the spirit problem, leaving a helm slot for a 50% uptime on 60% dmg on perfect storm. Not worth it.

So what they’re doing is letting us to pick a helmet(a very valuable gear/legendary slot) based on the course we choose as a druid. Werewolf, bear, or nature/human. I’m also seeing them try to hard with the new helm. It leaves very little to the imagination. It would only be able to work one way. Even more than bear or wolf. Kind of feels like sets from d3. Very little room for customization. Would be nice if the different forms had something to do with our class passive. Or if the forms had there own unique bonuses (that you don’t need aspects to get), ya know kinda like spirit born

You can’t refresh the buff while it’s active (similarly to how Earthen Might works) which makes the helm vendor trash on arrival.

Even if you could I am not sure it’s actually worth it.

S8 Druid is a bold move by the devs imo. Petrify is a VERY flashy build. They’re gonna end up giving someone a seizure with the Urivar/Petrify build.

Still no word on Grig’s power. Did anyone try it at all? How do the tiles work? How many are spawned at a time? Will it scale with Thunderstruck, Electrocution, and Fulminate?

this. they made the helmet without understanding their own game.
“two keystones active at once? that just MUST be good. omg, i’m such a good designer. oh, another meeting.”

Hate to be that guy, but they have understood druids less and less season after seaason. Druid started with more options in s0 in some ways.

New Helm Pointless?

Yes, it’s still garbage.

  • Perfect Storm only counts for skills you cast (press the button for). Not for NF procs. So you can only use the helmet for Tornado or LS (at least LS can proc NF now).
  • Why use it for LS? LS already has builds.
  • Tornado is bad, one way or the other.
  • No, can’t use the helmet for earth builds.
  • You lose several damage multipliers when using this helmet.
  • NF is crap anyway, now that it only procs on button presses. Plus any build with NF has to sacrifice way too many aspects.

S8 is Cataclysm, again. Cataclysm or a struggle to kill the new bosses. There were a few promising builds, but they have been nerfed already.

Blizz hate the Druid!! Omg! Cataclysm again? Noooo

NF now procs with channeling skills like Lightning Storm and Stone Burst and if you proc a Stone Burst from NF, it is max size. So saying that NF only procs on button presses is wrong. If what you mean is that NF doesn’t proc on “auto casted skills”, than I think this is what it should be, otherwise it would be broken af.

The fact that Perfect Storm only works with manual casts is rly bad for a NF helm, makes no sense at all. Also, Earthen Might is kinda useful for this unique now because of the 50% multiplier, but imo they need to rework EM and change PS to buff ALL storm skills.

Now, here is more problems that I’m having by using this helm in live server:

  1. 200 is waaaay too much, you can proc this like 3 or 4 times in a speed farm dungeon.
  2. The buff don’t overlap. If you have Anima of the Forests, you can’t get stacks. You need the buff to end and then start all over again (and 200 stacks is way too much)
  3. Tooltip is weird. It says “every [400-200] Nature Magic Critical Strikes, or [80-40] against Bosses…”, but it what it actually does is giving you 5 stacks per crit against bosses. Sure, is the same thing, but I think it would be better to just say that you get 5 stacks.
  4. 200 stacks is waaaaay too much!!!

Imo the idea of this unique is amazing and I disagree with people saying that the class doesn’t need it, but it feels like it was made without much thought in how it synergizes with the class. Blizzard, pls, reduce the amount of stacks, let the buff overlap and change PS to buff every storm skill.

would be nice to make a build around it, but NF can’t proc often enough.

wrong. NF can only proc when you press a button (“cast”). that’s the only way.

the helmet was clearly made in mind with using NF, but no one bothered to think it through. they even had to band-aid fix EM to be able to at least refresh.
idk why they just changed PS to apply without the cast requirement. even then the build wouldn’t be strong. this is pure laziness.

true. it’s the same problem old GR had. your build is ****** useless when you don’t have the buff. if at least you could collect crits while the buff is still running… 200 crits in 15 seconds with 100% crit tornados procced by NF isn’t outlandish. but no, can’t happen.

like i said, the unique has been made by someone on paper who has no clue about class mechanics. “two keystones active at once, that must be strong!” lazy amateurs.
isn’t there a new class lead? maybe he reads this. sad thing is stuff like removing the PS cast condition is really fast to do.

I’m ok with Earthen Might getting a rework only next season, but PS and the amount of stacks have to change this season if they want people to use this new unique.

The one build I can see it working is Ravens.

It’s a Storm skill that doesn’t use Perfect Storm; so you get to benefit from both key passives. It has no issues criting 200 times per 15s.

Did you tested? The idea looks cool

Oh I am for sure not touching the game in its current state. I’ve tortured myself enough the last 4 season.

I know people in this forum hate math for some reason, but I did … you know - that.

Last season wolves were roughly 3-4 times stronger than ravens in the DPS department (not math-based, but actual pit results). With the helm + the Ahu rune bug (if my source on this one is correct, and he usually is) → The difference now should be virtually non-existent; or at the very least - really slim.

With the unique wolf pants / Raven legendary both skills are marked as Nature Skills. Their passive attacks do not trigger Anima Of The Forest, which i really hope is a bug and will be addressed soon. The pets active use does count toward it. If the pet passive attacks are not supposed to trigger it i hope they come forward and say that.

hahaha. the druid has so many old bugs that have never been addressed.
