Nerf'd SORC again so sayonara!

I want someone who is in the development team who handles skill nerfing to see this.

I am going to uninstall the game and get a refund for the expansion because of a change that happened that I noticed while playing the season 5 beta.

Season 4 was the most fun I had because I was able to finally make a build that made me feel strong. I spend so many hours grinding the perfect gear for my flameshield build. My damage output was not great and I couldn’t complete t100 pits before the timer ran out, but I was still having fun because I was invincible most of the time.

Now playing the beta of season 5 I realize all that hard work was for absolutely NOTHING. You completely broke every sorc build I enjoyed including fire shield. This was the nail in the coffin for me.

You let every other class push insane damage and near invincibility, but after working my @$$ off to get my sorc fun again by ATLEAST making it nearly unkillable you go and say NOPE, but it wasn’t just flame shield. You nerfed almost every fun build sorc players like me enjoyed.

If this doesn’t go back to how it was AND buffing sorc damage scaling I will never come back to this game nor will I pay another cent for anything blizzard again. This is now 5 seasons where you have crapped on sorc players for no reason. It takes INSANE amount of gear reqs to get fire shield playable. Most people won;t even get there! Maybe nerf BARB??? jesus christ.

Sorc can do quadrillions of damage now though…

From a bugged interaction lol…

They also nerfed ice shield and teleport. This dev team boggles my mind. I hope ice shield and TP nerfs are reverted.

Maybe when no one buys sorc cosmetics next season something will be done.

Infinite flame shield is bugged as well. This is a seasonal game where you play the buggy build of the season.

Which is easily fixed by altering the % of the tempers or raising the cooldown. No need to nerf ice shield or tp.

I’m getting thoroughly annoyed with the class imbalance. They are not running tests on this stuff.

If anyone knows who I can send this too where a dev or someone important will actually read it please let me know or tag/forward to them. Thanks.

What is this Sorc class you are talking about it?!
I though D4 only had 2 classes. Barb and Necro!
I might have to check it out!

FYI this is a PTR not the live game. I dread to think what would happen if everyone made their decisions on products in development rather then finished products.

“This bed is just planks of wood! I demand a refund!”
“But Sir I haven’t started making it yet!”

Jokes aside, I played pure summoner since launch and it taking them an entire year to make a summoner build viable was quite shocking! I did infact end up quitting and playing other games, but they finally changed it.
See how Sorc is in season 5, not on PTR and make your decision on that.

It isn’t bugged this season. It’s that the cooldown can be brought down enough so that the remainder of the gap can be almost or entirely filled with ice blades and high attack speed, which then further reduces flame shield’s cooldown. It’s literally synergy upon synergy. The devs could have opted to just knock flame shield’s benefit from CDR by 50% in addition to making its cooldown start only after its effect ended and left the other defensives alone. Instead, they destroyed all of them at once when only one needed the change.

Did flame shield need the nerf? Yes. Pretty much nobody is arguing against that. It’s the rest that doesn’t make sense, especially with the scaling of Infernal Hordes and the Pit. Sadly they went full 1.1.0 on us again after they said they wouldn’t do that again. The credibility there is kind of on thin ice given how bad the cumulative nerfs really are for the sorcerer.

Edit: Spelling

It is NOT bugged. It is one of the ONLY builds where you can grind ur @$$ off and get some luck with good rolls and GAs so that you can bring ur CD down so slow and even increase the flame shield duration to the point where there is about 1 second gap. There is no exploitation it is literally just getting good gear.

Instead of actually fixing stupid bugs they nerf a legit build we can grind for and get rewarded with for end game content and its not even “broken”.

It’s broken. Not bugged, but definitely broken. It does garbage damage, but the near invincibility in single target and full on god mode when ice blades is attacking multiple targets is a bit beyond reasonable. It may take grinding to get the gear for it, but it’s still a pretty obvious outlier, and in PvP it’s a death sentence for anyone that doesn’t get the jump on the sorcerer first because once that shield is up, it ain’t going down.

You can legitimately acquire the gear necessary to pull this off, but the build itself isn’t legitimate in terms of healthy gameplay. The problem we have with the S5 PTR is that there is nothing of actual value to offset the nerf. We get much, much worse survivability and no real damage increase outside of what is currently a bugged interaction (which should be fixed ASAP and before the PTR is done so we can test the non-bugged version).

Its a bug that will get fixed before it goes live. Come on man. You know this.

Flame shield is not a bug. It shouldnt exist but it isnt a bug.

i dont know how are you guys so freaking sure about it.

do you have any idea how many times people gave blizzard feedback about bug build and they just let it slide all the way till the end of season?

thats quite literally every single meta build so far, every single one of them had some kind of double triple dipping or bug interaction, most of them were left untouched all the way till next season.

there is a VERY good chance that they are not fixing this because this is a very short season and they have DLC, which generate tons of cash for them, to worry about, they are probably not gonna focus on this season at all.

Sorc has always been in a terrible state outside of a couple seasons of broken interactions on one build. It has always been the glass of D4 but never the cannon. Not even close to the cannon.

I dont mind being glass but then the dmg needs to be the best dmg in game because we are certainly the weakest defensively (flame shield stupid aside.)

Even being glass the defenses now are too gimped. People can get one shot by crappy trash mobs.

The damage is not there. Its not even close. The developers need to get a damn clue. I been waiting forever to play chain lightning build and not struggle. I thought it was coming. Without some big changes, it is not. It will just be the prettiest tickles in game.

Same goes for most other skills for sorc. Its like they are nerfing based on new gear possibilities. I dont want classes to only be viable if you get x helm and x pants and x sword and x amulet. I want them to be good on their own and have items that just enhance it some or maybe change the way skills work or whatever. The initial power should come just from the tree and furthered by paragon. Until this happens, balance will always be bad.

They killed off crit/vuln because it was only good for certain builds and everyone looked for that gear. Well… I liked looking for that gear more than the gear hunt now. All they needed to do was give skills better access to vuln that didnt have it. Instead they reworked it so that vuln is practically pointless and everything is just a +. Then they created the same exact problem with multipliers. Some skills have huge multipliers and some skills have almost no access or weak access. Its the same exact damn problem. Then they bandaid by creating items with multipliers for the classes. This doesn’t work because classes that already have multipliers benefit that much more than classes without. Then they keep nerfing the classes based on items they create and seasonal powers they create.

Classes are always going to feel bad with this swing balance BS they do. Its completely the wrong way to try and balance.

See frozen orb last PTR. See chain lightning in the beta. See minions in beta. Those are just some examples. There is no way in hell they are going to let a bug go through that allows people to hit quadrillions of dmg.

Im going to wait till the official s5 notes to come out, but if they stay as is, I know there will be a big exodus of sorcs. All of the well discussed / completely unnecessary nerfs need to be rolled back for the class that is already at the back of the pack.

I’m pretty sure the sorcerers developer has an old scary black & white memory of some Sorcerer doing bad stuff to him during a thunderstorm that wakes him up in a cold sweat every night.

Apparently this seems to be the direction.
Blizzard is the master, you are the pet. Do what you are told, be a “good boy” and you will get a treat.

Thanks but I like games with choices.
