More expansions planned?

blizzard has a habit of only releasing 1 expansion per diablo game is this the case here too? or will we eventually get more?

the new expansion takes place in the toranja jungle the same jungle from act 3 in diablo 2 and the same jungle the witch doctor is from in D3

the reason i ask is because so far it seems diablo 4 is only exploring the western continent of sanctuary but what about the eastern continent? hopefully we will get to visit it one day because playing a diablo game without being able to visit the town of tristram just doesnt feel right

They have been fairly clear about wanting multiple expansions for D4.
But they also wanted that for D3…
It will probably depend on how VoH sells. But most likely yes.

I refer you to this post:

Rod apparently forgot he even said there were going to be annual expansions. Honestly it will just depend on how much money they make off of this current expansion and how much revenue they’ll make in total from MTX. This very well could be the last expansion for the game. It’s too early to tell though.

they honestly better add at least 1 more expansion. cant really let the story end with just mephisto in my opinion.

I’m pretty sure this game is making good money for them so do not see any reason why they would not make more. Of course this is just my speculation and also we have to wait and see how this expansion rolls out.

Honestly, despite what someone may have said you should always hold in reserve that ANY plan can be changed. So while yearly expansions might have been the initial plan, realities either known or unknown to us may end up changing that plan.

VoH is coming in a month and a bit, to that end nothing else has been announced. So there’s no use in putting too much faith in anything else until it gets announced.

If I had a dollar for each time Blizzard have claimed they would make yearly WoW expansions…

They definitely might.
Albeit it is really weird we never heard a sales number update after ~10 millions. Usually a bad sign for sales numbers, but of course you never know.

I’m sure there will be at least one more since we still need Diablo to be in the game

one more for sure, so you can equip your mercenaries [rofl] [because its hard to do implement it right now]

Wait what? We are in the Eastern Continent right now. Tristram, Westmarch, Arreat, Aranoch are all in the West.

We need another share holders meeting leak. What I wouldn’t give to be a fly on the wall during one of those meetings, especially now that Microsoft has taken over. You’d think they would categorize it right? Blizzard WoW made this much, D4 made this much, DI, Rumble, etc.

oops sorry i made the horrible mistake of getting my words mixed up on the internet, dont worry i shall prompt go kill myself now so my family doesn’t have to live with this shame

so long everyone

You should get super offended by it on the internet first. THEN you should go

In that hopefully at Some Point They Get The Itemization & Skills Upgraded Enuff To Make worth Playing Hell Even D1 Was/Is Better Than This! :person_facepalming: :unamused:

Why do you think Diablo hasn’t been appeared yet…

Im sure they will have multiple expansions coming out as long as they are on there A game and aren’t releasing ham and egg expansions that we have to pay for. With the recent release of information im totally in for this first expansion. I also however love other arpgs are keeping them awake to not give us player who truly enjoy the game crap, thanks you POE and LE for that, i wish Grim Dawn did but they honestly dont have the support these other games have.

Probably, the game is popular despite what people will try to tell you. Also pretty sure they were working on 2 expansions at once so at the least we’ll get 1 more after VoH.

D3’s expansions were abandoned because of the controversy surrounding the game at launch, Jay Wilson mouthing off customers on social media and an art style/general tone that was not well received for the Diablo franchise (they tried to Saturday morning cartoon-inize it). That’s not the case with D4. D4’s biggest problem is the yoyo balance breaking everyone’s builds to the point where they don’t work properly anymore and the astronomical technical debt they inherited by copy/pasting D3 code to D4.

They are, production started around May 2023 and, just like seasons, you have to develop them in parallel rather than waiting for one to release before starting to develop the next.

“We have the live team, and we have the, uh, the dead team? I don’t know, the team working on the next expansion, right? So, all of those teams are working with [the Vessel of Hatred team on changes and balance].”

So you are saying I should take your word for it but I shouldn’t take the word of anyone else. Do you perhaps have some credentials you could show us that would make you qualified to speak for the popularity of the game over the rest of us?

Since I know no such credentials exist I will continue to use the same evidence you are using which is anecdotal. That being said when d4 launched I, my brother and 4 of my real life friends were all playing.
By the time season 2 came around it was only me and my best friend.
By season three it was only me occasionally and sometimes my brother.
By season 4 it was only me and my brother.
By season 5 it is only my brother.
As far as I know none of us except my brother are even considering buying the expansion.

So going by the evidence I have on hand I would be hard pressed to give the game the qualifier of “popular”.
Sure if you want to speak in a general sense there are still a lot of people playing just because the game has massive name brand appeal just like Mcdonalds and people play blizzard games just because they are blizzard games.
But in reality the game has nothing close to the popularity of what it could and should have had.

Now I am sure you will come back with your own anecdotal evidence claiming you and your 50 facebook friends have been playing every day since launch and have all preordered 4 copies of the ultimate edition expansion but like I said. We can all only speak from our own perspective and mine has lead me to believe that we are a long ways away from the popular dream.
