If their data from the servers, shows that Monks are played a lot in D3/DI, then they are doing it somewhat right, from the marketing point of view. Personally, I played Monks least in D3 and never in WoW. I would go for the Paladin, because almost everybody loves Paladins, and they are iconic. Imagine something like this: in a medieval fantasy game, there is no knight archetype. XD hahaha Brilliant. Everybody wants to run around and PUNCH monsters in the face. hahaha
According to your simplistic reasoning they should have included the DH in the expansion because it had the highest views on YouTube? Is that how you function in the real world?

Itās no problem man itās just crazy that these people are being delusional how unpopular the diablo 3 monk was.
While i thought it was alright the class fantasy didnāt fit for me so i just played demon hunter, the spiritborn class fantasy looks more interesting but Iām still surprised devs chose a monk offshoot when the monk fantasy isnāt that popular
Iām hoping we get a remiagined demon hunter with a more demonic class fantasy tied to it.
I have hope since some demon hunter iconic spells are missing from the rogue class ( strafe)
If spiritborn is the first expansion class(dexterity)
Crusader archetype will be the 2nd ( Strength)
Iām hoping the 3rd means weāll get ranged( since we just got 2 melees) and the class is a demon hunter variant that main stat is willpower and the class fantasy is you being the van helsin demon hunter but youāre fighting the inner demon inside you that gives you demonic abilities
well, chances are that its just more popular than you can assume, taking youtube views as a source.
since you know, blizzard has their own data. they know exactly how many people play a class.
Its really just one of the things we as end users cant really talk about. Who knows, maybe monks only got played by people over 50/60 who dont really care about youtube?

hmm i dont think id dislike a demon hunter, but my gut tells me that its rather unlikely. i think the rogue is supposed to fill that spot between amazon/assassin/demon hunter
If they didnāt care about youtube cause they were 60, diablo 3 came out 10 years agoā¦ who knows if those people are even able to game anymore this doesnāt really help your argument
I get what you mean but rogue is definitely more of the sneaky "realistic " dexterity class.
A demon hunter variant that uses willpower fighting an inner demon will give us the demonic class weāve never gotten since doing 3 melee classes would be crazy since the game only has 1 strictly ranged class, 2 strictly melee and 3 hybrids

It was merely trying to show you how youtube can hardly be a source for these kind of things. As Daimos said, the next class might as well be hot anime cat girl, as that for sure will have a ton of views.
I remember when people were saying that LE was going to be the D4 killer because of itās high twitch views in the first week. That was right before it tanked. So much for twitch and YouTube views which is no indication of how many people are playing, only Blizzard has the numbers. Regardless of what someone thinks he knows.

Twitch views are always high for new games, but youāre trying to dismiss views from 13 years ago that show a pretty glaring trend
hmm, yea i get you and can see how that could annoy people but really. i think its about time diablo 4 finds its own identity. this whole comparison to d3, d2, or heck, even competitorsā¦ so far i dont see how it improved d4.
maybe some weird ideas is exactly what d4 needs you know.
so yea, why not a dark gothic paladin like class, and some angelic archer?
Inna got nerfed into oblivion in D3. That was my main stay key farmer and gr125 speed farmer. LoD bells is ok but is hard to gear. As long as there are doors i refuse to play tempest rush.
Spirtborn is bringing it back though. Big monk energy!!!

For years I ran a WoL (fire), after I went to a Tempest Rush with Sweeping Wind for several years.
I never watched YouTube clips on the monk 13 years ago but it was my most played class.
Wellā¦ I meanā¦ I would sometimes ātankā on my Enhancement shaman or my Ret pally (back in TBC)ā¦ but they didnāt hold a candle to a āreal tankā, which would have way more tools for aggro & mitigation. Granted, Ret pally was way more viable as a tank than any form of shaman, for obvious reasons.
But I stopped WoW after WotLK, and I didnāt experience the trends in tankingā¦ DK was supposedly a very good tank option in certain circumstances. Would you say WoW Monk fits into the āreal tankā column, or the ātank for funziesā column like OG shaman?

Ah yes, I remember those threads well and wish they had never been taken down. I was ready to have a field day shoving them right back in those trolls faces . Get ready for part 2 when POE2 gets released. The āDuhā¦D4 deadā from POE fanatics will be insufferable. Im sure twitch will once again be their metric even though its just as stupid as using youtube as some form of metric.
Far as monks go, Ive never been a big fan, but usually they get played heavy when they are OP regardless of its D3 or WOW. Not that it has anything to do with spiritborn and making comparison shows complete ignorance of how the class works.

Golly, the absolutes, so fast & furious.
Thereās a whole lot of adolescent one-upmanship people do just to pump themselves up, it has almost nothing to do with the merits of the arguments. Instigator trolls do it, Team Blizzard trolls do it, itās like gang movie script, but West Side Story instead of Gangs of New York. Lots of finger snaps & flare.
When PoE2 comes out, the best compliment to its success (if the goal is to make PoE but with less systems bloat) will be that itās āDiablo-likeā. The legacy of āDiabloā is secure, because itās in the ARPG lexicon, it means āintuitive, addictive, real-time D&D hack n slashā. Any group of devs can strive to recreate that magic, it doesnāt have to be the āDiablo license ownersā.
I donāt understand modern sports fandom either. Nobody is from where they play for anymore, and the fans donāt get to loot a city afterwards.

I played monk in WoW in MoP. That expansion, Monk was absolutely amazing.
The thing is in wow, they never can let a good thing sit. Never let any class just sit and so they changed it.
Never liked the changes and since I didnāt main a monk, I was like whatever.
Monk in D3 is awesome and I have a lot of time on that class, second to wizard.
DI I never playedā¦not interested in P2W games.
Donāt forget the most important feature: boob physics!
I think itās crazier to assume the popularity of a class based on Youtube, especially considering all of those views for every class add up to to a few million when the game sold 30 million+
I played the game for 10 years. Never once did I go to Youtube to watch a video about a class. Iām sure Iām not alone.
