Monks are everywhere in D3 so no idea what you are on about there.
In wow sure monks are not really a thing much because other dps classes do it better, warrior tanks do it better. Plus they look like a Derpy fat Kung Fu panda sloth.
Definitely not a fantasy type I would enjoy playing or seeing in an everyday game like wow. But each to their own. I think it was actually just invented to sell and appease Chinese players on some strange level.
Soooo ,…
It is a Jungle Monk. A Bard, Enchanter, or Summoner archetype would have been a closer approximation to a “New Class” for Diablo. Any of these 3 archetypes could be relabeled and tailored to fit within the Diablo world.
Bard - Doesn’t need to be a dandy who plays the flute. Call them Hymns of Battle different paths. To fit that jack of all trades sort of style, it would have Magic, Melee, and Ranged capabilities and you could specialize depending how you build your class. Skyrim introduced “Shouts” outside of Magic. Tons of ways to incorporate this and make it Horadric-ky.
Enchanter - Kinetic caster. Physical based Caster. Enchanting system allows you to infuse your Weapons and Armor to tailor your playstyle to be more Melee or Caster. Able to Enchant enemies and use them as pets with a lot of interesting and unique CC options there.
Summoner - Pretty self explantory. Pet based Caster. Elden Ring’s Mimic system is interesting way to adapt this. This would hopefully also bring about more investment across the board for other builds that use Minions (Necro, Druid and lesser extent Barbarian with Ancients). Grim Dawn experienced this with one of their updates that revamped Pets.
The list goes on and on of Archetypes that could easily have been introduced to Diablo. “Spiritborn” really is just a version of a Monk, to the point where there is a certain Unique that is almost 100% D3 Monk related.
sure there is some monk in a spirit born but alot is related to the witch doktor aswel and due to the pets more witch doktor then monk.
So… WoW monks are restricted to pandas? And they can tank?
i always wonder why people try to come up with data they have no access to.
I mean, its cool that you dont like the new spiritborn. A new class cant satisfy everyone (and should for that matter, i mean how bland does a class have to be to satisfy almost everyone?). I for example would have been sad if they released a paladin first.
You making a claim out of thin air doesnt get you anywhere tho really.
Confirmation bias.
Also the needs and wants of the player base seperates into many groups. Blizz can’t win with any of their decisions, because, one group or the other will be unsatisfied.

A superficial estimate can still be useful, basing it on things like leaderboards, hype, class set updates, chatter, in-game observations, personal testing…
E.g. I’m pretty sure there’s no season in the last few years in which I didn’t roll a Monk, usually 1st char… can’t beat that faceroll speedfarming (Monk > DH). So I call cap.
Used to be but… that’s from playing pandaria from memory, be not surprised if it is open to all or other races now.
A gnome would of made a funny wow monk, perhaps I should see if that is a thing just for a good laugh.
Aye they were a hybrid dps/ tank class depending on spec in wow.
Ironically same thing in D3 tanks or dps. Just humans not silly pandas.
I did have a lot of fun tanking for 4 man grps in D3, was fast paced with a dash of skill and cool down mashing.
It’s common knowledge? You can look it up, it’s pretty publicly known.
Monk has been the least played class since it’s creation in WoW. Only now with evokers existing it is now the 2nd least played class.
Monk and witch Doctor are both the least played class in diablo immortal and diablo 3.
https://youtu.be/4cJfxhBgq8c?si=U8CJj_ai-IAKtXSx another metric… the monk has the least views of all the diablo 3 class trailers.
On top of the monk taking up the least amount of leaderboard spots.
I love my Windwalker monk in WoW and I’ll love the Spiritborn but monk in diablo franchise is recordly just flat out unpopular
It’s funny how most of you just thought i made it up when multiple sources do in fact show monk as least played diablo 3 class
your data is youtube views?..
i mean… you do you i guess… but really?

Hey, following YT views, I recommend a new class: a hot, anime cat girl, with big boobs. It will sell like hot cakes. -_-

Every other class trailer has 800k views.
Monk trailer has 250k views.
My source is literally just googling " least played diablo 3 class" or " least played diablo immortal class" and going to an article showing how many of X class are on the leaderboards and monks being the less represented one.

even leaderboards arent really a viable source. since leaderboards will of course be dependant on the meta.
Google can be powerful, but none of what you posted so far on this matter is data that proves how popular, or not popular the monk is. because suprise, we dont have this data. its blizzards.
(of course we are ignoring the fact that we wont receive a monk. Didnt you call it a witch doctor in another thread?)
You’re just delusional and mad i came with facts.
You have nothing to prove it’s not the least played but i definitely have plenty to prove it is in fact the least played.
We’re not getting the monk class cause the devs clearly knew the fantasy of it wasn’t popular.
at least my proof was more concrete than these people being like " i see a lot of monks or i play monks"
Like bro the monk youtube videos views are in the gutter, the class doesn’t and will never exist in diablo 4, the class has record low leaderboard counts in diablo 3 and diablo immortal.
The class is one of the least played next to witch Doctor, denying that is just flat out delusion
YouTube clip from 13 years ago is weak, you failed the class go home and tell your parents.

So you’re ignoring how the
monk has 250k views
Witch has 783k views
Demon hunter 830k views
Barbarian 735k views
Wizard 600k
Necro 733k
actually no. your proof is pretty much just as concrete as people saying “i see many monks”. infact, in both cases we arent talking about any reliable data, or proof.
but i mean, whats the point of this discussion anyway?
sounds pretty different from your OP:
i mean i may be wrong of course, but this discussion gives me the vibes of you being unhappy about your favorite class not being released.
taking this data btw, we can also say that only necromancers are of relevance. 733k views in a way shorter time compared to the other classes.
i hope you see where im going, thats not proofing something. thats just juggling with half informations.
I main monk in WoW and main demon hunter in d3.
I’m excited to play spiritborn since it seems more like Windwalker than it does diablo 3 monk
Yes necromancer are one of the more popular Diablo franchise classes.
