Major Lags and Rubber Banding on PC

I have been playing Diablo 4 for the past 4 days. The game right now is unplayable. I have decent internet and a gaming rig but I can’t run this game without severe connection issues. The game will constantly freeze and send me back to the same spot I was like 5 seconds ago. In most cases, I would be in a fight and the game would freeze, and I come back dead. Please fix the network issue. Otherwise, people cannot enjoy the game.

If you can indulge me and run these tests below, lets see what is causing your problem.

This one tests your connection to the server while you are playing the game and especially if ran during times of the lag and rubber banding:

This one is simpler, but you can run it as well:

And this has some tips about these tools and other info:

Please attempt to do these and post your results below, I can look through them and see what’s going on. I’m trying to get as many of these ran as I can to pin down any common threads with the issue.

Im having the same issue. game worked fine for the first couple days and now its barely playable. very frustrating

Ok, on this first test. You can see where your ISP is blocking a bit of the traffic or having trouble passing it through. I bolded the parts that I’m referring to. The 8-16% loss is pretty bad, especially for playing games.

This second one shows us the latency of your connection, and that looks very good to your ISP for the most part.

But its clear why you are seeing problems. The WinMTR does see issues as it passes D4 traffic through your ISP.

This has been happening across several ISPs as I have been running these tests.

My theory (and so far its still JUST a theory) is that the ISP systems may be blocking the traffic because something about it they don’t like.

We already have issues with the game traffic causing some people issues with their personal internet hardware, like routers and modems. It makes sense to me that even the ISPs could be having issues.

So while it may mean there might not be a problem at the server, it could be related to how the game and the server talk to each other, and some stuff along the way just doesn’t like it.

This is why I want to get as many of these done as I can. So thanks for running these! And hang in there!

thanks for the reply. its very interesting that the game was working perfectly for the first few days and now suddenly my ISP is having difficulties communicating with the D4 servers. If the ISP is blocking the traffic then I would assume this problem would have always been present especially with 18 percent packet loss yet it seems to have started within the last few updates. Leading me to believe that something that Blizzard has changed is not conducive with our ISP? Correct me if I’m missing something here, I am no network expert.

I’m still trying to pin this down. I don’t want to blame the ISPs just yet, nor am I trying to throw Blizzard under a bus.

But obviously something is amiss. Which is why I’m trying to get as many of these ran as we can. More data, more chances to narrow it down.

And if it is Blizzard’s server traffic, more info for them to get it fixed as well.

Hey, having the same issues, been disconnected 4 times within an hour and the game is unplayable in dungeons and the open world since yesterday. Here are my results:

Yeah, it looks like that server is causing here nearly 30% loss. And some of the servers before these was getting 9-14%. But it looks good after you at least, so its not at your location.

And pathping, same thing starting here and it gets worse as you go down:

Looks like your ISP is having general issues, not just impeding traffic. Some of these tests only show issues with the game traffic while the pathping shows nothing, and then tests like these where both look bad, shows an issue more on the ISP itself.
