unless theres some massive thing i am overlooking i fail to see what lilith did wrong exactly.
Pretty much. Bad writing didn’t let us have any choice, so instead we are forced into siding with a literal Prime Evil who says he is going to be our enemy soon.
They kind of tried to make it seem like Lilith didn’t actually care about Sanctuary and was only trying to get the power to rule over Hell, but we know she cares about humanity/Sanctuary which is why Inarius banished her in the 1st place.
Bad writing!
from what i understand, lilith and inarius had kids, inarius and demons wanted to kill the kids, and lilith did what any mom would and protect her kids, she killed everyone out to kill her kids. like this is exactly what i would call a reasonable response to “hey we’re gonna go ahead and kill all your kids”.
I enjoyed the cut scenes but all and any dialog was mostly a click fest. Which brings to mind, I have no clue as the the separation of the Acts! It all seemed like one big act with maybe a few notable events. Too bad they didn’t capitalize on the Tristram moment, instead of wasting away with what felt like a lazy quick drive by.
I know the modern-day expectation is to subvert expectations and make the young characters seem infallible but what the hell, They literally went to Hell to capture Mephisto because he was such a baddie and Lorath just decides to let Ney runaway and not be pursued?
She already has all sorts of powers and knowledge and Mephisto WILL corrupt her in time, especially with Ney being an impressionable teenager.
Lorath be like “Kids will be kids, let’s go get lunch lol”
I sorta sympathize with her aspirations, but she DID try to kill me. Whatever I did to her, it was self defense. She could have walked away and come up with a new plan. I didn’t attack first!
Lillith straight up just killed a bunch of the people she claimed to be empowering to fight the evils all hell all why she tried to get power for herself because she’s driven by hatred for the eternal conflict.
She makes some good points when she speaks but if you think she did nothing wrong it just goes to show that you’re just like all the cultists who got swayed into her bs because yes, she DOES make good points. But she also is ruthlessly evil to get what she wants which ultimately was power in hell for herself.
She doesn’t have sanctuary’s best interests at heart by anymeans.
our gal pal killed a bunch of people so she could steal daddys corvette and then turn the earth into hell, everyone into demons, to try and take over hell.
10000s of years ago inarius be like “i can fix her”
LOL
Really not bad writing at all, the humans decided to accept Mephisto’s assistance under the rationale of “solve the present problem, deal with that potential if/when”… The exact same logic prevailed with the USSR in Potsdam in 1945 in real-life. That said, the humans remained neutral and did not take a side, they are seeking their own self-preservation.
Lillith was only trying to get power over hell, it was shown time and time again - like the angels - Sanctuary was a propaganda play thing, and denizens of it, pawns for the great powers to utilize in the chasing of their own ends ( again, shocking, metaphor for real-life.)
The entire point of the story, which is a recurring theme in this series, is how the powerful use their ideals and righteousness as they fall into the corruption of power and self interest; and that demagoguery leads to tyranny. Saviourism is corruption, much like basically every revolution to date.
Pol Pot spoke about the liberation of workers while slaughtering millions in the Killing Fields.
Story is weird.
They went with “everyone is bad except Horadrim” but the thing is… Lorath will not lead humanity, he is old man and will retire.
So humanity will continue to kill each other now when both Lilith and Inarius are dead, and if demons/angels appear, how would humans even defend? Have one Nephalem defend them yet again?
Could have gray vs gray but went with black vs black for some reason. Like why Prava wants to kill Nephalem and Lorath who just saved both her and the world? Just to setup her as a villain? It makes no sense. She failed and almost died, Inarius died, should be grateful to those who saved everything.
Just my view of things;
Lilith would’ve encouraged hell to attack sanctuary, opening the gates and everything. Yes, she apparently wanted to ready us for that war, but that’s the entire force of hell, primes and all, set upon sanctuary, which would’ve been a losing battle. IMO, it was her war against the heavens for them abandoning her joint creation.
While she didn’t do anything “wrong”, her actions would’ve created far, far more death and destruction than if she had worked to close off hell, as well as the heavens, from all of the mortal realm. Her power alone could’ve, in it’s own right, been enough to end the eternal conflict, but she had the terror of a mother, the hate of a lover, and the terror of loss clouding her.
What i did not like, was the: " Im always behind her and never catch up." mentality. Sure, its good for telling a story, but it feels a bit cheap. At the end, though. I felt like a boss. Finally, i am the one waiting for her.
Everyone knows genocide isn’t wrong when you agree with the person committing it, amirite?
They kind of tried to make it seem like Lilith didn’t actually care about Sanctuary and was only trying to get the power to rule over Hell, but we know she cares about humanity/Sanctuary which is why Inarius banished her in the 1st place.
Lilith has, quite literally, never cared about humanity or Sanctuary. She was more than willing to expose Sanctuary to the Burning Hells & High Heavens. Inarius didn’t banish her because she cared about Sanctuary, he banished her because she killed their followers. Every angel, every demon that followed them to Sanctuary she murdered because they wanted to kill the Nephalem off.
She has always been a self-serving, sadistic individual. Even if you disregard all of that, just take a gander at what she did during the Sin War. She killed innocent people for no reason other than to manipulate Uldyssian in a vain attempt to get him to do her bidding.
Not sure where you get she cares from any of that.
That’s the problem, this game retconned Lilith’s intentions and made it seem like she’s this power-hungry demon that just wants to control hell.
That’s not in character for her, at all. It’s bad writing. She even says as much to Inarius: “heaven will never take you back no matter what you do”. Why would she think hell would be different? Why would she be able to control hell with impunity with solely Mephisto’s power? As if Diablo and Baal and the other Lesser evils will just sit by and let it happen? As if the Lesser evils weren’t able to overthrow the Prime evils before. lol
None of this is consistent with her goal of an end to the eternal conflict.
She existed.
You should probably put Spoilers in your title.
Need that story for the xpac.
So, pretty much going on a rampage and KILLING everyone so they would grow stronger to face the prime evils doesnt count as being evil…
Yeah ok…
She was deluded, she was basically one with daddy issues. She was using Sanctuary to defeat the Prime Evils, specially his father. Which she ironically, “Hates”… lol someone would think the Aspect of Hatred can get lots of hate…
As for Inarius, he just wanted to undo the bad, but he is even more stupid, he thinks that what he did can/could be undone… He should have accepted his fate that he was no longer welcome in the heavens and could try to do things right. Maybe if he did, and just maybe. Long the road haven could have forgive him, he couldve finally redeem himself. Instead he goes all whacko. Angiris Council did not even wanted Sanctuary purged, as majority voted to leave it. And without Malthael now, there was even a bigger minority of only Imperius wanting to get rid of Sanctuary (and even then it was what he thought of at the time, who knows now)
Can we not post spoilers?
This is normal for Diablo, though, as annoying as it can be some times. You’re always following in the wake of something, trying to catch up and stop them but dealing with the horror and aftermath of what they left behind.
