The only person not acting like a complete tool is Lilith.
The angel never did anything and refused to help then had identity issues.
The head priest was a zealot that killed her own men for “atonement”
Seems like the only people helping you are the two head demons. Me-fisto and Lilith actually help you. Lilith is actually trying to remove humans from the nonsensical heaven and hell battle. Sure people go a little crazy sometimes but thats not as bad as what everyone else has done.
Demons to some, Angels to others. Really works here.

Why don’t they just settle it in tug of war?

Really? She awakens and she murders people, she goes to new/old places and murders people. She gets upset with her spouse who has killed her child who she completely ignored for centuries and guess what… she kills everyone.
Yeah, she is a real, level headed charmer she is…
She cares not for humanity. It is a byproduct of her curiosity and nothing more. What she wants is enough power so that the primes can’t shut her down. Orrr… probably to just take over hell completely.

Its a war, people will die. She kills her husband that kills her kid. Its like coming home and finding out your husband drowned your child in the kiddie pool.
She made sanctuary and wants to protect it. The angel was an asp that did nothing to help humanity.
This is like saying the H-guy who has a funny mustache really wasn’t a bad guy because he was just trying to create a pure world.

Did you miss the cinematic in the Church or the part where she stuck the soulstone in Yorins forehead, hanging the witch is to good.
While the D4 story overall is fantastic, they weren’t terribly great with the profiles of Lilith and Inarius. Those who do know the Lore (or read the sin war books) are familiar with Lilith’s nature and why she’s not to be trusted.
Lilith’s goal has always been to turn human kind into a weapon to destroy the Burning Hells and High Heavens but Inarius stopped her. If she had absorbed Mephisto, there would be no way of stopping her corrupting humanity and pulling Sanctuary right smack into the eternal conflict.
Inarius has always been selfish and arrogant but he is the way he is now after being turned on by a group of humans who awoke the power of their ancestors (A power he sedated long ago because he feared the destruction it would bring.) He’s spiteful having being turned on by his own creations calling the world he created “THEIR WORLD” and he’s full of hate after being tortured by Mephisto in hell for thousands of years.
Of the two, I have no remorse for Lilith but I do pity Inarius a little. Dude saw no end in sight for the war and just wanted to stop fighting. Lilith took hold on that and played him like a fiddle. He loved her very much and she betrayed him horrendously, slaughtering all the Angels and Demons that helped create Sanctuary and leaving him practically alone with only their kids as company.

Lilith is a mesmer, confusing your mind, making you to love her, but she will kill you no matter what in a cold heart, Always do good things and kill all the demons, Heavens, protect us!
Pretty sure Lilith’s whole thing is that she’s willing to do wrong if the ends justify the means.

Lilith is classical “Love me or else” anti hero.
She gets upset with her spouse who has killed her child who she completely ignored for centuries
I mean, playing the devil’s advocate here, she kinda was banished to the Void by Inarius, which is meant to be an inescapable pocket universe of nothingness up until her summoning in the reveal cinematic. So not keeping in touch with Rathma wasn’t REALLY her fault

They are but humans are the rope.

My question is, do we know this for sure? Lilith never made clear what her true objective was…not even right at the end of her own life. I have so many unanswered questions that I hope will be dealt with in future seasons and/or expansions!

Yep, she was just being motherly and trying to protect her offspring while the abhorrent Inarius tried to end all of humanity and murder his lover, only to buy his way back into heaven.
It’s insane how the player character (and probably 99% of the people responding to this thread, haven’t checked yet) will judge her for no other reason than the fact that she has horns and wings so she’s scary, lol.
Inarius was a selfish, sanctimonious, evil PoS, while Lilith was a maternal, protective, empathetic demoness. It’s insane we couldn’t side with her, and honestly, I think the PC is one of the bad guys.

The same Lilith that would use thought control to manipulate others to kill for her, that Lilith?
Lol, y’all weak to an ‘attractive’ evil being. If she grotesque looking, you’d have different feelings about her.
You’re definitely self projecting here. I’m just not gullible enough to think she’s the bad guy just because she has wings and horns. In the world of Sanctuary, she’s easily the least evil, and by a ton.
Inarius is honestly even worse than the prime evils.

I like this summery, I got thru act 3 I think and was thinking “Oh…another Thanos complex where the bad guy is the good guy (moraly grey).” By the end of act 5 I was looking up lore that I haven’t looked at for ages and combing over old books. (By the way the old Diablo 2 game manual refers to barbarians sprint ability is them basically getting used to running with thier “potbellies” over the plains.)
Edit: Misread the line " It is a fatal assumption that the Barbarian warrior is slow and ponderous. His great bulk belies a very agile individual. A lifetime of patrolling the vast plains of his native soil, where it is often necessary to cover great distances in very little time, has empowered the Barbarian warriors with the ability to walk and run at surprising rates of speed" Pg 53 Diablo 2 manual…back when games came with books for manuals.
Nah, y’all definitely weak af.
Lilith was absolutely the most straight forward in wanting to destroy everything. She in a sense was pure anarchy. So if you believe she wanted to just let everyone be happy, look at what she did in the first act, she literally empowered everyone to their desires. She had no moral compass after losing her son.
She looks “hot” as guise for sure, i mean lust of one of the sins or whatever, so of course you have temptation.
I don’t recall diablo getting nearly that many people to be like “hell yea killing and stuff”
