Legendary aspect problem in VoH

Progression on upgrading your build’s legendary aspects has stalled due to changes in Vessel of Hatred. There are several factors contributing to this problem.

  1. There has been a significant increase in the number of legendary aspects. The increased drop pool means less likely to obtain the desired aspects.
  2. Legendary aspect tier is hard capped on non-ancestral items.
  3. Ancestral item drop rate is lower.

Things I’m doing to try and obtain higher legendary aspect power in codex

  1. Play often. Paragon 238
  2. Obtain max rep with merc to unlock all bartering options
  3. Spending pale marks to obtain targeted codex power caches from bartering
  4. Spending bargains at undercity spirit brazier for chance to obtain targeted legendary aspects items

Even with doing all of the above my build’s legendary aspects are still around 60% power on average. This is way less than they would be, at this point, in previous seasons.

Yeah i got my first legendary with the aspect i needed in T1. It was also the lowest end. Currently in T2 and have 1 800 dropped. Gonna be tough getting to T4 with 750s.

I found more luck refreshing the page. I burnt 1000 marks yesterday, got 4 max aspects.

I’m paragon level 223. I have max rep with all mercs. I too buy every single cache and even spend pale marks refreshing the barter options to buy more caches. I have also done the bugged bargains trying to target farm. None of the aspects I use are maxed. I’ve been playing every single day a lot of hours every single day, I’ve been doing Torment 3 and 4 content as well. I understand them wanting to make it take longer but this is too much imo.
ETA, just checked my codex, out of every single aspect that I can get unlocked for my class I have 6 total maxed. None of which I use.

The items are not ancestral from bartering, you can’t have an upgrade by buying items unless it’s a ga ancestral.

Paragon 230, my lightning spear aspect is about 100 damage less than max; and several other [ x ] value aspects are also low still.

Just gonna retire for the season and let them try to figure out wtf they’re doing on their end.

That is why. They know the build you are using or going for and dont allow you to get the gear you want. I see it every season. I need bone stuff for my necro but i get the good blood ones. To solve that i switched to the blood build and got my aspects for bone maxed…

Since the Dev’s removed the physical “Aspects” and placed them into a catalog as we had it in Season 5, it would be ideal to “select” which “Aspect” quality to choose from. Because from low end Legendary to high end Ancestral, you use the HIGHEST quality first over the less quality.

So, If I’m Enchanting my 750’s with Aspects for example, I DO NOT want to use my Ancestral Aspect powers for a low end legendary which as we know, Aspects make your build more fluid. Furthermore, we also know in VoH, the drop rate for Ancestral items was lowered. There’s ZERO reason pushing T3-T4 with 750 gear to include 750 Unique items when the drop rate for Ancestral gear in T2-T3 isn’t even that great. More often than not, most players will be using lower tier Aspect rolls onto their 800 gear instead of hoping for RNG Jesus to take the wheel to drop them Ancestral Aspect that player needs or targeting for.

Most people are going through T1 Infernal Hordes to gain more legendary drops with a chance for Ancestral items over than plowing through T2-T3. Sure, you may end up in T3 w/ 200+ paragon with a few decked out 800 Ancestral Legendries, but those 750’s still carry over until the RNG gods bless you with a Ancestral Legendary item, yet again, that 800 item level may not be ideal which your 750 item still remains better. Forget gambling Orbos for Ancestral Legendries, it’s like 1 in 10 shot, maybe…I’ve gambled approximate ~1,734 Orbos and out of the gamble, only 3 were Ancestral with useless stats for the most part which I did salvage but did not receive Aspects pertaining to my specific build, though I did gain a few Uniques.

You could also try to endlessly farm Tormented Echo’s for a HIGHER chance of Ancestral items that drop, even still, Magic and Rare items still drop from them which can take up a Ancestral drop slot. So, that Magic item that was “RNG” rolled to drop, could of been a Ancestral. Another great question to add to that, WHY do we need Magic and Rare items to drop from Tormented Echo Bosses in Torment 1 and up??? There’s ZERO point to have any Magic or Rare since Legendary items going forward into Torment 1 and up. Honestly, for what? What purpose does having a Magic or Rare item drop from Torment Bosses you’re targeting for Legendries, Ancestral Legendries and Unique Legendries? I’d genuinely like to know other than the basic “So players aren’t being handed gear that easily”. Well, hate to tell ya, just about every avenue in D4 hands you gear.

If I have enough boss summoning materials to summon a specific boss say 3 times on Torment 1, I don’t want to see Magic and Rare drops, that’s what I’m not there for. Class Specific Unique’s, Legendary and Ancestral Legendary items with boss summoning materials, that’s it. I and I’m sure others can agree, have ZERO use for Magic and Rare items dropping from Tormented Bosses which will be salvaged into blacksmithing materials that every other chest in the open world or dungeons would drop and by the time you’re farming Tormented Bosses, you have more than enough blacksmith crafting materials. Leave Magic and Rare drops to NMD, Helltide Chests, random chests in the open world, Elite’s ect. Tormented bosses should be exclusive for certain loot drop quality.

Can anybody confirm the claims that 750 item power legendary aspects are overwriting the ancestral level aspects in the codex? I’ve read a few claims that if you salvage a non ancestral it can downgrade your codex.

This is ridiculous. It is easier to get GA’d Mythic Unique drops than high tier ancestral aspects that match your build.

End game is now maxing out your legendary aspect power. This needs fixed.

A simple solution for this, which should be like this from the beginning, for a smoother progression and less rng would be to increase the level of all aspects recycling. Maybe, ancestor increase 2 levels etc. The whole system can be improved.

I would gladly accept it requiring 2x as many salvages if normal legendaries would count for the entire thing

My resolve stack and block crit damage aspects haven’t been improved in several days. Been on T4 for awhile and they’re still probably the same value they were when I was on T1.

Was this meant to be another trade market 95% of the playerbase isn’t participating in and is just harmed by?

And sadly some of those might be the 1/1 aspects too.

I think its an oversight by Blizzard. They neglected to consider the combined effects of increasing aspect drop pool, hard capping non-ancestral aspect values, and drastically reducing ancestral drops.

I think they intended to make finding high level aspects more valuable by limiting the values on non-ancestral. But the people making that decisions didn’t coordinate with the teams making the other changes.

If they actually intended for large value aspects to be this rare (much more rare than mythic unique) then they have lost their collective mind.
