A game that not only had a campaign but then custom games that you could play whatever you wanted, some of which involved further player-made campaigns or game modes.
Okay, that was their MOBA game, that’s the second game.
Another game of theirs that has raids and dungeons be their main bread and butter.
So out of their repetoir of games, we have… Three games that really is all about playing against other players, and then all their other games which have more going on than just PvP.
And no, just because their games have PvP as a thing you can do, don’t mean their games are automatically focused solely on PvP. That’s complete nonsense.
Not everyone wants to PVP. Opt in is okay with me.

I don’t think they should be permanently on if you are forced to go through them to progress the story.
You just shouldn’t be able to get loot from those areas without having pvp on.
I love PvP but I’ll never advocate for forced PvP personally. Sorry.

I like the idea that parts of the map (& their rewards are not locked behind pvp) I’m not good at pvp, I don’t like it.
I get that a lot of players enjoy it so the being able to opt in or out feels like a cool idea.
I can run around & get my checks towards map completion without worrying that some a-hole wants to beat me up before t-bagging me for sh1ts & giggles.
Warcraft (series) is a RTS which by definition is a PVP game. Same with the Starcraft (series).
It was intended as a pvp game. It just also had a campaign.
WoW has pvp zones which you cannot opt out.
Diablo 1 had a toggle-able friendly fire button while playing multiplayer. You couldn’t opt out of pvp if you played multiplayer.
Diablo 2 had a hostile system. You couldn’t opt out of pvp if you played public multiplayer.
Diablo 4 being opt-out pvp is not in the spirit of the game. The game is supposed to be dangerous and evil and full of things and people who want to murder you.
If you can go into a pvp zone without engaging in pvp then what is the point of it at all? Don’t even have pvp zones and make the entire game opt-in pvp.
But yes, aside from Lost Vikings (which I think had friendly fire) most of Blizzard’s games are PvP games with single player elements. PvP was a major selling point in games from the 90s through early 2000s.

Diablo is a pvp game. Diablo 1 & 2 both had pvp that you couldn’t opt out of if you played publicly.
D3 zero longevity? 10 years running and 28 seasons. Maybe YOU stopped playing, but it was still running with players.
Diablo is a dungeon crawler with optional pvp. You cannot do anything in the game via PvP - except for PvP.
You cannot kill Diablo via PvP.
I mean, if you wanted to play against other players you could. Or, as it was something that people also did, you could play custom games and play against the AI. Something that I’ve done pretty much since I was a wee lad.
