Is going into one dungeon with ONE other player really considered a raid?
I always thought that a “raid” was with a LARGE GROUP of people.
I’d say it’s not a real raid but it’s also kind of semantics. It’s not a raid in an MMO sense trying to coordinate a dozen (or more) players. But it has raid-like dungeon and boss mechanics and the group, however large, needs to actually real-time coordinate to complete the dungeon sort of like a small scope raid.
I’m fine to call it a “co-op dungeon” as Blizz does instead of a raid, but I see why people are using the term (it’s also a lot faster to type “raid” than “co-op dungeon” lol)
I’ve always considered a raid to require 2 or more groups to complete. If it requires 1 group it’s just a dungeon. That’s my take anyway.
However given the community and the way they love to flip things with no factual basis I can understand why they call it a raid. It’s the same people who come up with random tin foil hat theories how the devs hate us and just want our money. Btw it’s marketing who want our money.

I have always considered a “Raid” to be a group larger than the standard party. So in WOW it was 5 players, and needed to be converted to a “Raid” to and the sixth and so on. Diablo 4’s standard party is 4 players.
Yea people have a tendency to insert things that aren’t there. just like the other post today where they inserted VoH into the PTR announcement when it clearly didn’t say VoH anywhere.
That’s also why I’m sticking with my stance on marcs might count as party members when people are saying it’s confirmed they don’t but it didn’t say that anywhere in the blog. I’m most likely wrong but I want to see the words and not just assume.
well they refer to it as a co-op dungeon, not a raid. i believe it is the forum people that have dubbed it a raid
I agree completely, I hardly would consider this a “Raid” however I do see similarity with the vaults.
It doesn’t matter what it’s called. It’s called a raid because the idea is similar to WoW’s raids. What people have a problem with is that they are adding multiplayer only content making Diablo an mmo when it isn’t.
It’s definitely not a raid, but it’s definitely group content…
I would love to see a Raid without a group requirement.
In what way though? I find it more equivalent to a dungeon in WoW than an actual raid. The only correlation is the weekly reward.
Raids in WoW typically involved many hours, trash pulls, multiple bosses, etc. All I see here is a random dungeon with some puzzle mechanics and a boss at the end to kill for your weekly reward. We’ll be in and out in less then 10 minutes guaranteed.
But there are dungeons in the game already. People won’t name a different mode the same so they name it a raid.
Easier to type ‘raid’ than co-op dungeon or MMO slop.
Yea you are right, people aren’t too smart. I’ll just call it a weekly dungeon myself.
I’m calling it Midgar already.
I would actually say its similar to WoWs dungeons. Its only one group of people. WoWs raids are multiple groups of people.
A raid is when you’re going in to area as a group sharing the same loot. Everyone gets their own loot in this game so how is it a raid. by definition that isn’t what a raid is.
Co-op dungeon. Thats all it is. Raid = multiple groups of people. Always has been as long as I been online gaming.
You’re also sharing loot too. I never been in a actual MMO raid where everyone get their own rewards lol. Theres time I came out with nothing
True. I have been in games where there is personal loot but you arent always getting something. A lot of times you get nothing. This game, everyone gets the same amount of loot.
