Hmm I do have D4 saved to a different drive than all my other games. But it is an ssd, maybe I should reinstall and download it to the other drive with all my other games?
Copy the game folder to the SSD (if you have enough space)
HOWEVER.
If your SSD is small (like 256GB or less) I donāt recommend this. The game will eat nearly half that space and put your SSD at risk of failing faster if its pushed near to being full with the game on it.
My OS is running on an NVME 1TB Kingston Fury Renegade drive. (7k read, 6k write)
This drive also houses D3, D4 and OW2. The rest of my games run from a 2TB Samsung SATA SSD.
But I have optimized my system for this setup and use less than 30% of my OS drive, even with the games installed.
But how u explain for most people including me it started right after 1.1.1 patch. I played 1.1.1 patch day before patch go online. Have 0 issues, and when i go offline to download new patch it started disconnect on teleports. First i think its cus patch hour and server problems. This disconnects never stopped.
I think that (since the patch) there is a possibility it introduced a change that impacts anyone with enough performance problems (both hardware and internet) that for some reason affects a small amount of you with a disconnect during teleport specifically.
But outside of the ones posting here, I have no hard data.
That said, at least 3 of you are running on a HDD, which is not recommended at all for this game. That delay in loading files from a slow mechanical drive might indeed be responsible. Sure it was fine before the latest patches, but it is also not part of the minimum or recommended specs according to the website:
Minimum Requirements
Operating System
64-bit WindowsĀ® 10 version 1909 or newer
Processor
IntelĀ® Coreā¢ i5-2500K or AMDā¢ FX-8350

Ok guys, turn out my D4 was installed on my HDD. After i re-installed it in my SSD. The game run flawlessly without any issue / dc. I too like alot of you here did not face any issues previously, only after patch 1.1.1.1
I have the same issue for months. Started after same patch as others. Canāt play a new character on season 2 if itās not fixed, since I canāt portal to town to sell ,salvage, nothing. Itās walk or DC.
I play on cloud gaming service Boosteroid. They say they use SSDs. Internet connection is solid.
Is this not urgent from dev perspective? Is it something we need to fix ourselves or move on?
Same issue here, I posted in this same thread over a month ago. I have SSD with solid internet connection. I canāt play new season because I canāt portal to town.
Be that as it may, considering several have fixed it by changing their drive setup, that tells me there is something performance related that is now affected as a result of the patch.
In other words, despite you two having an SSD, apparently you are still encountering enough of a performance hit that it borks.
Are you two on a SATA based SSD, or an NVME SSD? For whichever it is, let me know the size, model and rated speed and/or tested speed if you can of the read and write ability. But definitely post with make and model and type.
You can use this tool here for a basic and fairly close test. Be sure to test the drive the game is installed on.
Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately I canāt know, as I play on cloud gaming service Boosteroid. Their tech support said they use SSDās but thatās all I can find out.
I donāt have any idea how well the game will work there. I havenāt encountered anyone that was using Boosteroid to play D4ā¦ So, no idea what might affect it there.
Why? They provide almost almost all modern games. Again, worked great until the patch. I might have to look elsewhere though if I feel determined enough to try and figure out how to keep playing
Well, I know what it is. But its not something I have any clue how to help you with.
And as I said, your the first person to state they use it for D4. Soā¦ Most of us play from our own PCsā¦ lol
But if I had to guess, their system setup might have some performance hits that are causing this to happen, like people with PCs trying to play the game from a HDD.
If the game gets enough of a performance hit, apparently it causes it to timeout during teleport.
Obviously something changed with the patch, but its only affecting a small amount of you.
