True but I still consider them friends of mine not just people I play video games with
My thoughts exactly. Every diablo and expansion since 1997 has well supported solo play. Groups were more efficient, but you could still definitely solo. Further, every ARPG ever made (to my knowledge) considers solo play totally normal and fully supports it - the more modern ones even having special game modes for people who want to grind alone. Even Lost Ark - a game that calls itself an MMO (and doesn’t use the term ARPG in their marketing) just released a solo mode.
Finally, when people raised concerns about the “shared world” blizz assured us that we could “play our way” and wouldn’t have to party up.
I think it was beyond reasonable for people to expect the game to be playable without partying.
I don’t think anyone is saying it should be group play only, just stating that blizzard never said this game would be soloable. It should all be soloable imo being an arpg but I’m not the d4 devs and they do some crazy changes lol
Have as many coop only features as you want, just dont lock progression behind it (not saying they will, but the phrasing I’ve seen so far is vague).
Make it more efficient, by all means. Just let me earn my gear and character progression alone, even if it’s slower.
I’m pro raids cause it will help diablo.
I never group or trade.
They did, though - from Joe Shelly

There is no option to disable seeing other players or an offline mode, but you can solo the whole game if you never feel like grouping up.
When was this published? Seems like he was talking about the game at that time, if he said that during voh promotions that’s different then and I dunno
2019, the game has changed we do not even see Joe anymore.
I’m not saying they can’t or didn’t change their mind, my argument is that it was reasonable for people to expect to be able to play solo.
This weird thread will not defeat the fact that you said there would be a Raid in VoH. It’s 2 player minimum, more than likely 1 player and an NPC, but we will have to wait and see.
Your Topics will not sway anyone that can see or remembers your previous comments, this includes the Devs you are trying to sway.
Everything says players not NPCs.
“groups of players.”
No point to be mad, it will be optional like everything else in this game.
Even if it first it says 2 possible players needed. You will no doubt be able to out gear that situation.
As an ssf player I think that there being some group content is good for the game and is fine as long as that isn’t the only place to get scrolls and the everyone trying to say that ssf player are getting the shaft need to go touch some grass
There are lots of games you can play solo in an open world: Elden Ring, God of War, Breath of the Wild and its sequel, Hogwarts Legacy, the Borderlands franchise, Remnant, Fallout, Skyrim…and that’s just off the top of my head.
I am a SSF player and an MMO lite player, because sometimes the game is boring…ok a lot of the times the game is boring.
Everquest is still one of my favorite all time games. I lost touch with most of the people I played with and some have died since then. I have a lot of good memories from that game. Still have some screenshots I found a few years back.
There is no wait and see. It’s two player minimum confirmed. Mercs will not be able to count for the second player as it can’t do required puzzles and mechanics.
Same here probably my top game of all time also
The only always online games I’m aware of are by Blizzard. Nearly every Nintendo game, playable offline. Elden Ring, Armored Core 6, Monster Hunter World/Rise, God of War etc are all playable offline. Then there are games like Dragon’s Dogma where you are in your own world and you never have to interact with another player outside of using their pawns which are AI controlled.
In D4, you are shoved into an open world and players are around you whether you want them there or not and you have no option to disable that. This alone should be the red flag for every solo only player.
Elder Scrolls 3-5, Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom, several Assassin’s Creed games I don’t know the name of off the top of my head, the Horizon games as far as I know, Xenoblade Chronicles X (has asynchronous multiplayer but you still interact on your own,) etc etc etc
Like a ton, really.
