Every season I try to play my own builds, but they never compete with the meta builds because there is always some bugged combo of things that does far more damage then intended. This sucks because theory crafting and building your own build would be the best part of this game. But each season you end up being forced into one of 5 builds that the content creators publish that are 100 times better than anything else because they leverage multiple broken / bugged damage multipliers. I think I’m problaby done with the game because what I want to do is make my own build and after 6 seasons that has never been possible.

To be fair nobody is forcing you to play a certain way. I personally run my own builds and just accept that they aren’t going to compete against the top builds. I have a lot of fun doing it too. I also have a meta build I can crush all content with, but it’s never as fun as my custom builds. Just don’t expect to be the best at everything mate. gl hf

You can make your own build but when they work 1/10th as well as some other build, they won’t be fun to play.
Also given how quickly the content creators find the bugged combos, it almost feels like blizzard leaks the broken combos to the content creators at the start of the season.

My guess is a closed test server that they invite the more influential content parasites to.
I am not asking for every build to work, but there are so many builds that should make sense, that just don’t work because of how some damage scales verse others.
Its feels very deliberate that many builds that make sense, don’t actually work in the end game, because if Blizzard made it so there were more options to deal damage, and build our character, they would just be introducing more bugged mechanics that get exploited.

Just don’t watch YT when you play a game will do.
All game has bug builds, just this is a seasonal game which you have to wait the end of season for the bug fixes on those caused overperformance.
i have several question:
do you know any game that all builds are the same ?
in which content your build is not good enough ?
and why watching youtubers and ruining your own game?

Ever play Grim Dawn? It doesn’t really have meta builds because pretty much any build can become OP.
This is due to how skill progression works, how the game handles level scaling, and the fact that there are target-farmable items that can make any skill/skill combo OP AF.
The meta build thing bothers me too…But at least you can enjoy the story/campaign and the leveling from 1-60 experience with pretty much any build. Once you get to the ‘end’ of endgame stuff, yeah…it’s all about meta builds.

You’re missing out on a ton of fun testing & tweaking META builds & variations to fit your own playstyle. I spend so much time contrasting ideas from different sites & different builds, that by the time I’m done–I have created my own build.

Well, This is your first problem, Just who are you competing with? And why? If it’s the streamers well you will lose that match. I don’t play meta but i do get ideas from those builds and then go with my variation.

What you actually mean is: Every season I want the build I invent to be the meta build. Since you are not playing the game as an in come source, I doubt that will ever happen.
This is not Diablo 3 where you could really build something different and good…
Btw META do not exists in D4, this is term reserved for specialized team group. You do not have in D4: healer, group collector, Boss Killer.
Diablo is very shallow game and game play is anti social.

My full ice shot barrage rogue or heartseeker rogue doesnt work because poison imbuement with a certain aspect is just busted and it also resets its own cooldown…
Ice imbuement doesnt get that benefit from ANYTHING.

Feels like current Call Of Duty we’e had for the last few years. Each Season certain new guns come out and they are the best and then they nerf them. Feels all the same. It’s stupid.

OP, Just cause streamers and other people find/play/stream builds doesn’t mean you have to watch and feel some “Type of way” because what they have is better then yours.
If you want to Play your way, build your own build then Do it, and forget what everybody else is doing.
You are putting Yourself in a situation where you have something you should be happy with but are upset by what others have when.
If you focus on yourself and what your doing you’ll be a lot happier then feeling ENVIOUS Over others and what they are doing.
*and no one is Forcing you to do Anything.

So far with how torment progression will go. THE GAME is forcing us to play the same 5 builds on each character.
When torment 5-8 comes out next year which it will we’ll see a problem of borrowed power and then we’ll see sets included to solve it.
I like people thinking they are “forced” to play a meta build, like they had a knife behind them ready to strike if they play something different.
This is really the cancer of the modern era of gaming. I remember playing Summoner Necromancer on D2 right at the beginning of the game and i don’t even care if it was meta or not. Just i like it. I’m still alive.
Torment 1 = World Tier 4. Everything is unlocked at that point so no one is forcing you to go up the difficulty other than YOURSELF.
