I think there might be something HORRIBLY WRONG with my Shroud of Khanduras

So, just putsing around with Grig and he drops me a 4GA Shroud of Khanduras…

At first I thought “YAY!!!” but then THIS happened!

“Casting Dark Shroud makes you Immune for 2 seconds, but your Evade Cooldown is increased by 9.0 (3.0 - 9.0) seconds.”…yes, NINE seconds!

Did I misunderstand something somewhere?..I thought it was changed so that when a 4GA Unique drops, it will have the best or close to the best possible bonus it could have.

How did I end up getting the WORST possible bonus for the best possible Shroud?..

The ability will always have a random roll. The affixes can be greater, but the ability on the gear is always random. You just got unlucky.

Hmm, then I guess I DID misunderstand something somewhere

Thanks for the reply!

It is what it is :person_shrugging:

No, Aspects are supposed to raise per Greater Affix on the Unique. OP is right. Clearly someone goofed, probably because this aspect is descending rather than ascending.

I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if the devs missed that the floor on this is the higher number, not the lower. 4GAs are supposed to roll closer to the best roll.

Shroud of Khanduras is a unique, not a legendary aspect. The ability roll on uniques is always random.

No, they never changed it that I heard of though there’s been feedback.
They really like their RNG layer cake with orange rng frosting.

Since the sheer stupidly rare nature of 4GA I had long ago suggested a Tiered system
eg a Unique item with an Affix range of 10-1 with 1 being ideal
0 GA - 100% Variance(normal) 10-1
1 GA - 75% Variance 7.5-1
2 GA - 50% Variance 5-1
3 GA - 25% Variance 2.5-1
4 GA - Item rolls max value (ideal value)

If SOME RNG should be maintained then shift the numbers so that 4GA would be 25% Variance.

It’s hugely disappointing to get a snowflake item like a 4GA Fists of Fate and see 200%(or whatever minimum is).
Sorry for your loss

Sorry but, you’re 100% wrong.

Straight from patch notes.

Developer’s Note: It doesn’t feel good to get an item that has multiple Greater Affixes with poorly rolled power. This change will make it so that a 4 GA item will always have a good roll on the Unique power.

This is from the 2.1 patch notes:

  • The variance on the roll of a Unique Item’s power has been reduced. Additionally, the variance for the strength of the power further reduces for each Greater Affix present.

OH! So I am NOT in the Twilight Zone!!!

On the fence if whether or not I should keep this…in case they correct it, but then again, they more than likely won’t…

Oh well, it is what it is :person_shrugging:

Well the first thing you should do is post in the bug forum and probably include a link to a screenshot. Then hopefully others with the same issue will report it as well. I would keep it. Multiple times they’ve rerolled the unique powers to correct mistakes since starting to implement this change. I’ve had low roll 4ga uniques turn into perfect/near perfect ones through patches.

You should never get the lowest value on a 4 GA items. They changed the way the range was specified on several items so that the second value was the highest one. It wasn’t always the case and could sometimes be confusing. It seems to me they forgot to do that on the Khanduras. Explains why you got this instead of the best value.

I think it’s because of the descending/ascending order. They forgot to change it, so the system “thinks” of 9 seconds as “being the highest roll”. It was clearly an oversight.

Yeah. He got a perfect roll, for an item with the worst roll at the top instead of the bottom.

I have honestly never noticed this and assumed they still rolled the way they always did, but I’m not afraid to admit I was wrong. shrug Sorry for any confusion I may have caused.

I would report it on the bug report forum unless the 9 isn’t the floor on lower GA versions (that is, the 9 is the reduced variance on a 4GA.) But all the examples I see online are 3.0-9.0 seconds.

They just forgot to flip the order. It should be 9.0-3.0 seconds.

Hex, Jemuzu and Japhasca - thanks.
I took some time off and didn’t catch up on patches and notes.
Glad they did this.
