How tuned to you have to be to take down Uber Duriel?

Level 100 Blood Surge/Minion necro. I pretty much face tank every one of the other bosses. Thought I’d head over to Uber Duriel and try my hand at that and was disappointed to waste 2 sets of summoning materials. I just wasn’t doing much damage. Is my build crap or am I missing something easy? I had 76% poison resistance going into the fight.

Dunno have not played Blood Surge since I was leveling. It shouldn’t take all that long though. My Infinimist Necro melts him in like 30 seconds to a minute. Bone spear would probably take like 5-10 seconds tops.

Not super surprised. Blood surge is pretty poor single target damage and minions are just gonna get rolled over on a boss of equal level like Duriel. You can start by changing the build to a minion-free version that gives you all those juicy sacrifice bonuses imo.

on eternal, he’s much much easier than lillith since there aren’t bs one shot, mario bro land on the right brick or die, mechanics.

Get your poison resist to 70 then add a heady poison elixir and you will be fine.
I beat him at 93 solo on barb.

I wish I could say this is an achievement.

What bro needs to do is spec out of blood surge.

If you’re level 100, you should be able to solo him regardless of your build. He’s a cake walk.

This.

I beat him earlier when my barb hit 90. It didn’t take too long, but I certainly didn’t one shot him or melt him down super fast.

Poison resist at 70 and used elixir and incense. Got the job done.

If you die, you can just reenter the arena and start the fight again.

EDIT: Guess you mean 2 shards and 2 eggs.

It depends on the build and gear. Disregard the useless ‘he’s easy any build can do it at level 90’ comments.

Cap physical armor and poison resist. Watch out for the AoE poison nova from the adds, the big stomp and the grab.

Duri has a ton of health so you want to spec for single target or it’ll take absolutely forever.

I haven’t tried summoner on duriel but I imagine skellies get oneshot left and right, probably better to go bonespear or spiritbomb. Search either of these on youtube and you’ll get some stupid powerful build.

Defense can ofc stack beyond simple armor and resist. Do not underestimate fortify, flat damage reduction or even heals.

If you’re not in specialized gear or using a specialized build it can be a tough fight.

If all else fails you can always find a group and do rota’s, usually someone there than will 1 bonk the boss.

It’s the truth though. I’ve probably respecced over 10 times on my sorc, all homebrew builds, and effortlessly skated through Duriel, solo, with each build. The worst build was conjuration, and it took much longer, but I was still able to beat him without ever being in any danger at all.

My brother is running summoner and solos Duriel without losing a single HP.

sure if you know the fight inside out or have sorc shields.

my first 100 this season was a bear druid. 17k hp armor and resist capped, bunch of DR, poison nova almost onetapped me.

your experience is not everyone’s experience.

I also have a 100 sorc and a 100 barb. It’s ez time on those two compared to druid because of survivability.

Well, I’m guessing bear druids without excellent gear are horrid? Summon necros are not nearly as bad, apparently.

You are overlooking a lot. Blood Surge Minion if built correctly will have a lot of Fortify. And in this season a lot of access to guaranteed Overpower. He will be fine being the same level as the boss. These endgame bosses are not difficult if they don’t out level you.
Yes he may die if a rock falls on him or something, but he can just keep rejoining the fight.

How much life are you knocking off him before you die? I’ve been able to solo him since around 90 w/a werewolf & werewolf pets (in other words not a high damage dealing build). But, I have good resists/DR, the unique pants w/max resist boosts & bloodhowl and debilitating roar.

If you’ve made it to the point where there’s duriel and his poison spitting pets (not the trash mobs but those 2 that come up the ground @ the beginning of the fight), don’t stand next to them and use your pets to kills those off while kiting duriel w/evade would be my suggestion. If you don’t make it that far I’d suggest looking at both defense and offense of your build.

on stormclaw druid, u-duriel was a brainless tank & spank. no danger at all.

idk about blood lance/minion necro

I’ve tried blood surge minion even with the proper unique ancestral and it doesn’t seem to have the same output as a thorns/mendelin pure summoner. But I may have been spec’ing it out wrong. I can solo uber duriel though with a pure summoner. I use Temerity and my resists are maxed so i’m kinda tanky to top it all off.

my pulverize druid wouldnt even be tickled by the poison nova. sure i did very little dmg but i would go around and res other people while duriel and adds just kept attacking me and doing next to no damage. that was my first toon and duriel runs of the season. i cant imagine a bear druid with armor and resist caps taking any real dmg from duriel. my druid can do t100 safely because of my insane armor and resist, just takes forever because of low dmg, in comparison to other classes/builds. but i take like no dmg and am never at risk of dying

He’s tanky so OP builds will do best, but at lvl100 he really doesn’t hit too hard as long as you max your poison resistance. Having a fairly large health pool is probably the next most important piece of the puzzle. Beyond that, just whittle him down!

I threw together a lame incinerate build for speed farming s2, I can’t do nm80+ but I can tank all day, so bosses are really easy for me, just my dps takes longer than a proper build.
