I love the density of Helltides but I really wish there was a better way of using / looking at the map.
Kill everything around me, open the map to look for a chest, close the map and I’m swarmed by enemies again.
Same thing when trying to port to a non-main town. Open the map to find the town, click on it, portal starts and then mobs spawn and attack.

Imagine you are playing on HC.
heartattack states when you open map for 3 sec and when you close you are at 10% of HP.

This is one of many reasons why a map overlay is needed or allow us to zoom out the minimap. One or the other.

this x1billion other reasons that a map overlay is needed.
-putting the game on a timer
-oh wait, let me stop quick so I can completely hide the gameplay for a quick flash of a map that completely ruins and sort of game-flow, while on a timer via (TAB-remapped)

For some reason, just like a loot filter, Blizzard is completely against not putting in a overlay map. The claim is, it detracts from all the artists work and people will come to rely on it.

that’s hilarious when the map completely hides all of that when opened.

We should be able to PAUSE the game. Every previous entry in the Diablo series came with a Pause menu. The same needs to happen in D4. Beyond ridiculous there’s no Pause menu in this game.

i’m not sure if that would work with online. I’m not sure I ever played an online game with a pause feature, ever.

D3 has a Pause menu & it’s “always online” on the PC platform…
The game needs some totems in the inventory as a quality of life, logically a tab for them. Stay in the infernal tide for 3 seconds and gain an invulnerable shield for 10 seconds. Items like this. Larger gold collection area, more movement, more armor .
It’s too bad that you have to exchange several items to make a given activity better. And even remove jewelry from equipment. If there was a single 1890 armor totem in the open world, it would facilitate our farming.
I just watch for the red aura and if it starts, toggle back and start whipping more monster butt.
I have yet to be killed while looking at the map since the game launched. Not sure why its an issue? *shrug
Yes, but its not in a game that is world wide. It is instance based.
D3, D2, etc will only pause if you are the only player in the game.

is that in story mode? it’s a decade since i’ve played it. I remember dragging mobs to the craft table in HC and ganking people that way. (which I think was fixed lmao)

I mean in the current iteration of HT this would only happen if you are in the middle of the threat meter dropping.
… or if someone in your party has a thread meter dropping. (Odd, yes, people play in groups)
… or the normal random respawns mobs have. (Which typically happens after opening a chest. After which most people open the map to pin the next chest.)
… or the random off screen mob pulls you into a group of mobs.
… or random player running past mobs attracting them all to your location.
There are many reasons something like this could happen.
Yep, all clear. Open map. 100 bomber guys spawn on top of you. Kaboom.
Its terrifying on Hardcore mode because of the sappers and their burst damage.
Never. My guy is so tanky I can just AFK in the middle of it all and not worry one bit. I wish that there was some risk to my character in the helltide. Maybe one day we get +100 level mobs potions, that would be great.
Now… if you’re someone that dies a lot in helltide… GOOD! It’s supposed to be chaos & mayhem, the forces of hell wants you dead and they don’t care if you’re opening a map or doing whatever.
If you can’t handle the action, don’t enter the helltide zone or play on a lower world tier until you’re better geared/skilled/stronger.
That only works if you are alone in a private game. You can’t pause in a group game. (You also can’t pause a challenge rift, even solo.)

Find it to be the worst when I need to turn in Tree Whisper bounties. I would love to just go there when I hit the “T”. Or maybe, be able to save enough whispers for like 3 bounties maybe.
I think a better option would be to highlight helltide chests on the minimap even if they’re out of range (only unopened ones) so you know the general direction. Same goes with whispers and selected quests. Then allow us to bind town portals to the ring menu, so we can port directly to the tree without bringing up the map.
We don’t want to spend time looking at the map, it is inefficient. Let’s find ways of getting what we need without it, and just use it for teleporting to dungeons, and looking for events outside of the area we’re in.
