Goblins Disappearing

So I killed one of the new blue goblins. Instead of splitting in half it just disappeared. It did not escape. Just vanished. Seems like it happened with another one too but not 100% certain on the second one.

Are you using freeze in your build? Ice shards? Fists of fate?

Don’t freeze them. They shatter without splitting into more and you get no loot

I call it “Overkill”.
It’s what I’ve been calling what happens to Gelatinous Sires in Diablo 3(same exact goblin) for what? A decade now?

Our characters (and the ones in D3) simply do far too much damage and don’t allow time for the Gelatinous Gob to split.

You have to literally gimp your DPS or be extremely careful.

This has been my technique for the last… forever in D3.
Preface: Gelatinous Sires split 2x - idk how Syrus splits… I’m assuming it’s the same here.
Main Goblin → 2 smaller Gobs then → 4 tiny Gobs

  1. Step 1. BE GENTLE
  2. Hit ONCE (you probably do so much damage once will suffice) or JUST ENOUGH to make it split into 2.
  3. Wait. Let the game register the 2 Gobs(Dumb I know)
  4. Hit again to split the 2 smaller Gobs into 4
  5. Wait some more…let the tiny ones settle, game register then…
  6. Kill

Disregard steps 4&5&6 if it’s only a single split - Large into 2 medium Goblins that is.

You HAVE TO wait for whatever it is - the game itself, the monster irdk - register.
If you just smash then the split will never happen and the loot will be gone.

I posted this in the Blue Goblin Thread.
I totally predicted this was going to happen and it’s probably happening to many encountering this Goblin.

To BLIZZARD - ADD GOD FRAMES TO GELATINOUS SYRUS’
If they’re already in place then do what D3 didn’t do - lengthen the duration of them.

Yup…10 years this April

I mean the simplest solution would be just to set their max HP at whatever point is intended and have them spawn the next version on death but apparently that’s too difficult for Blizzard to figure out despite “spawn on death” being a concept in games for decades.

I just took fists of fate off of my build to remove freeze. I’m still doing billions of damage but the goblins are splitting and dropping loot.

I think it’s using the same code as the spider guys that split into baby spiders. If you freeze them they just shatter and don’t split.

That’s excellent data!

I haven’t bothered to log in for a week or more.
Too  (gamer’s narcolepsy and D4 is the perfect nite time sleep aid right now)
Anyway, I just assumed it was similar coding to D3s.

If,.as you say, they’re acting like the Spider Hosts, then that makes a lot of sense.

It’s still a matter of not interrupting or overpowering a mechanic.
Instead of copy~pasta D3 Gelatinous - they’re basically Spider Hosts c/p that can be shattered…
Idk it’s always something.
Always.
Heaven forbid you’re TOO STRONK or use hard CC or or or…sigh.

I turned off Cross Play and never saw the issue again

Last night I chased a goblin through a nightmare dungeon for it to ignore all of my attacks and then it just teleported away. Poof! Not a single damage done :rofl:

Kinda hard to do when your minions are just exploding next to them but they all drop for me upon death.

Sometime they are too fast…increase your walking speed.

Nope, it’s a visual bug, not my movement speed. I call them “fake goblins,” lol. I was chasing it, technically yes, but with Shadow Step last night or Leap in a different scenario (on video) currently. Occasionally, it happens in the overworld too. When I go from one-tapping everything to a goblin that just ignores my damage (even after stopping to teleport for a few seconds), and I’m using everything on him but his health bar doesn’t budge? It’s not me, it’s the game, and it may have just been a deliberate attempt at a troll goblin. I dont mind I think it is funny tbh

ok, i didnt know any “back story” so i “assumed”…sometimes things like that have made me laugh because im like “did i really just see the portal open and close with no goblin?”

also seen the “ghost events” too…like in the green zone, you see the event but nothing happens and you just attack and nothing happens
