I tried the quest again after the patch, it’s still bugged but something changed because now i can’t destroy the Gore-soaked barricade at all.
Read 2 posts above you. I shared your pain, but that one has not failed anyone yet…
Yesterdays patch fixed this bug for me on the PS5. Previously I couldn’t complete it on either platform.
Still bugged on PC indeed. The barrier can no longer be damaged, however the quest also does not progress.

After originally spending 2-3 hours trying different methods, even after the patch I had given up… update July 8th: the 1 FPS Background / 15 FPS foreground worked like a charm! Thanks!

Limit background fps to 1 and then tab out with the cave is loading and while she is talking.
This is the solve. Nothing else worked except for this.

got fixed for me! idk if blizzard fixed this issue or I was just lucky and got it on my first try today after suffering for like 2 weeks. but now I got all the paragon points so I am happy yay
Same here, bug persists - even if I clear the events and relog…
For me, this somehow worked. I have no idea why because I did nothing new that I was aware of.
Basically, I tried once again because I was in the area anyway. I entered the cave, waited a minute or so (did a biobreak ^^) and then climbed down to the NPC. I talked to her and while she was holding her speech I walked back to the ladder/wall (not climbing up, just idling there).
Then, I idled some more (got something to drink and was just plain AFK) and then suddenly the other NPCs started cheering and charged the wall and the whole thing went on as it was intended.
Still not fixed, but this worked as a solution, thanks to Reddit people:
- make sure your game is in windowed or borderless window
- set the minimum background fps to 1fps
- relog outside of the cave
- click on the cave entry and tab out, wait until everything has fully loaded at 1fps
- start the conversation and tab out again
- wait until they start shouting, then you’re safe to continue normally with the quest

9th July and it’s still bugged,
I’ve tried all the suggestions here and what I found elsewhere, nothing worked.
The other NPC’s, after a while, didn’t cheer but ran off and staight through the wall.
One NPC remained back and slowly started attcking wall but no damage.
I try and attack wall, no damage.
Not sure what to do next, will Blizzard ever fix this quest ?
Possibly in the next patch scheduled for the 18th. Who knows?
First raised as a bug on the 2nd June, multiple patches later, still bugged.

Well, if we are making guesses, then I give it a 20% chance. I think they are working on other things related to Season 1 right now.
Amazingly, this worked. After weeks of frustration I can finally complete Dry Steppes. Wish Blizz would get their act together and properly fix this issue though.
Thanks for the clear instructions. I couldn’t understand others who tried to give similar suggestions. note: I didn’t have to use windowed mode, to “tab out” I just pressed the Windows key and brought up the battle.net window (which I had already opened in the background).

Still bugged on PS5…

Confirmed. Changing world tier from 3 to 2 fixed the bug for me.
To confirm, causing lag (I had 300ms) made this work first time after trying probably 20+ times to get this to work with all other different suggestions.
