I don’t know if the current maintenance is helping this bug but I was finally able to complete this not even 2 minutes ago. Now I just need to go figure out where the last remaining quest I have to complete is. I know there is one quest that opens once you complete this so that isn’t the one.

VPN worked 1st try
I just had it work for me. The gate was not targetable and the npcs went down and started attacking it before I bothered to move.
There was an event outside - which I did just in case - but I don’t think it’s relevant as the quest didn’t work both when an event was up (and I both ignored and completed it b4) and when it wasn’t.
Don’t know if I just got lucky or if they actually fixed it. Good luck to those still trying to complete this one.
This worked. I will say if your quest is bugged out zone out of the dungeon exit to the character select screen and log back in. This will reset the dungeon. Talk to the NPC to start the dialog and run to the barricade. NPC’s met me shortly after.
Still bugged, tried every solution at least 3 times.

Yep. One month later, most reported bug on here and they really didn’t fix it. Was hoping it just wasn’t mentioned, but nope.
confirmed, still not able to complete this
before entering the cave where the quests leads you make sure the event outside is first cleared once its clear there is a number of ways i got the quest to work,
- once event outside is clear then enter cave u must climb down do not use a skill to get down quicker this sometimes bugs the quest out.
- once event outside is clear exit the game and waiting for timer to count down then log back in a proceed as normal to quest area.
- get a friend to teleport you to their state of the game then leave party and rejoin you game state this sometimes clears the bug
if none of these work just keep repeating one of the steps and it will eventually work it did for me.
It’s unbelievable that for this quest, there are dozens of topics, and this very topic has more than 200 messages, yet Blizzard is so incompetent to fix this bug in one month! Just pathetic!

Tried various relogs, completed the event before the dungeon multiple times…
You can even destroy the barricade and lure the opponents to the barbarians. They start fighting and if you then lure the opponents back to the feeding ground, they will come with you. However, the quest step will not be completed
i´ve read somewhere in the forum that someone fixed it with a vpn an a higher latency.
i´ve tried it and it really worked for me! The fight was a bit laggy but manageable in WT3

VPN workaround worked, quest finished. I am from EU (~60ms), connected to USA using VPN (~250ms), and it worked… first try!
