Did 125 data points per test for a control test, a test with just frigid fate, and a test with just storm swell. My conclusion was that instead of the 1.3x expected I was yielding 1.15x for frigid fate and 1.125x for storm swell.
I tested these on lillith with ice shards after the patch. Recorded all my testing, showed all my gear, skill tree, paragon.
My guess and math showed frigid fate got messed up and is multiplying your cold dmg additive by 1.3x leading to much lower values than intended. 300% cold dmg would become 390, equating to a fully upgrade cold temper.
For storm swell, wasn’t totally conclusive but my guess is it’s doing that with your vulnerable additive.
Icefall seems to be working as intended.
Shredding blades also seems to be fine, albeit there is confusion on what’s it’s supposed to do. Per the wording this one is supposed to be 1.3x to your vulnerable additive. Aka 200 vuln dmg would become 260. Basically a temper roll.
Storm swell and Frigid fate have always been, and to everyone’s understanding a 1.3x global damage multi. Did someone at blizzard get confused by crossing wires with how shredding blades is supposed to work (dead aspect btw buff it)

Blizzard your math, start at 100%. This may help make more sense.
If true,
(300+100) x 1.3 = 520 - 100 = 420.
[(2+1) x 1.3 ] -1 = 290
Still basically a temper roll in this case.
No, in the current state of the game ie post crit vuln changes, they should all (stormswell, frigid fate, shedded) function as 30% multiplicative mods to your baseline vulnerability damage.
Ex: 300 vuln baseline (includes the 1.2).
[(1+3) x 1.3 x 1.3 x 1.3] -1 = 7.788, or 779 vuln damage. You can check this value by putting on temerity and entering a combat area, pop a potion and pull up the stats. Shredded and frigid are auto calculated out of town, temerity is for stormswell visibility.
I agree with you tho, buff it, or better yet, rework vuln. Reduce the stacking values but make it a multiplicative debuff on the target again, or just remove it. The current ‘additive stacking’ sorc does with crit, vuln, and burn doesnt work in the scaling environment of this game, and is the primary reason for sorc damage falling off so quickly.
Thanks for testing btw, we need alot more of that in the community and in the dev team LOL
that 100 you add is only to the base of all additive. cold is still 300%. so it would go to 390. but also frigid fate could just be bugged and only giving half value
It could for sure be bugged, and id trust your info over my own on that, but the math is correct in my post.
Edit: that came off as kinda rude, srry. I meant that the math in my post accurately reflects what is in the stats, but whether thats correct or not is relative
Makes sense, I almost wonder if vuln interactions in general are bugged for sorc, for example everliving aspect.
Saw your video Lurkin, love you work! Keep it up. I ended up rerolling Barb made me super sade, Sorcs have bugs / issues in general with the class. I am having fun finally with a Thorns barb…Shame though I really like the Sorc
Good effort
But I doubt it get fix anytime soon
At this point I think it’s always safe to assume that when something doesn’t add up it’s likely bugged. Not only is the game hopelessly spaghetti coded by dozens if not hundreds of people who never worked with each other and don’t work at Blizzard anymore, but it’s been proven numerous times that they use hack math for all of their damage calculations.
are you all getting the Frigid Fate of full/over 300% Damage with Cold?
mine is 188% and seems rounded up to 19% as Current Bonus.
this 19%[ x ] is applied to Vulnerable damage according to the tooltips.
if i got 300% Damage with Cold, i will have maximum allowance of 30%[ x ] bonus damage to Vulnerable.
if i got 350% Damage with Cold, i will still have maximum allowance of 30%[ x ] bonus damage to Vulnerable.
so the testing and observation done in regard to Vulnerable damage?
