Fix tempering quick, please!

Are you going to solve this issue now, devs? I complain and we cant have like this way and we will never accept it when you destroy bis item for nothing when you found after been farming forever!

Stop waiting and do something about it!!!

I personally think it’s fine. Although that’s not the general consensus. Blizzard most likely will change the system, and my guess is they are saving it for a mid-season patch to bring players back.

I made a suggestion once and not sure why ppl. don’t notice it:

  • Bricking still happens, but
  • You can reroll the Tempered affix by investing Stygian stones and Gold (say 2 SS and 2.5M Gold per roll)

The game is going to go with something that will be casual friendly. That has been the trend.

“There is already a reddit post of a guy putting 300 rolls into a spread sheet and finding that the more desired tempers have lower chances of rolling. Example he used the rogue marksmen temper which give (crit damage, marksmen crit chance, marksmen damage and rain of arrows damage) he found in 300 rolls the crit damage (the most desirable) rolled the least amount while rain of arrows (the least desirable) rolled the most and the other 2 were about even. Crit damage was in the 50s while rain of arrows was in the 90s and the other 2 in the 70s. There is just a lower % chance on the more desirable tempers.”

“To be honest, I am really frustrated by this mechanic. I have bricked so many items already that are godly. Why can we not get a reset feature for this…”

“the bricking mechanism makes trading items for gold useless. imagine spending 500m on an item just to brick it.”

“I really hope they add farmable crafting materials that let you reset tempers, masterworking and a crappier enchant cost one”

“How about for every GA on an item you get 5 more chances to temper”

This needs to be addressed ASAP.

Best solution. Integrity of system is kept. Its the manuals causing the issues.

Urza, know that I consider you a friend, and your consistency if for nothing else is very admirable. Never change.

Gotta have high visibility to get things perhaps seen! I really like my solution so yes I present it on every single temper post. Get 'er done! Thank you sir!

You are a fren too.

Mostly because I’m staying indifferent to the whole thing. The current system doesn’t bother me, but if they changed it, that wouldn’t bother me either. I’ve noted as such in a couple of threads, so when I see a new one pop up (not yours btw) I just immediately mute it.

I’ve read your thread and I think you have an interesting idea. I feel it could honestly work. Again though, it’s not a biggy to me either way. I did not however like your post so I will rectify that.

Tempering is easily the most lame aspect of the game

Personally I’d rather just be able to pick the temper I want and let the RNG parts be the roll % that I get. With that would suit me just fine.

I’m sorry to say this, but you should forget about quick fixes.

I knew that if we couldn’t change the developers’ opinion during the PTR, we would have months without changes…

We didn’t make it, now we’re stuck… just as intended.

I play druid and bricked so many items. I already barely do damage. Farming is torment with this class. I dont want to play any other class so I just gave up. Not pushing higher content anymore. I spend some of my gaming time to other games which respect my time. Sometimes login diablo to kill some demons and logout.

There is a really thin line between making the player quit and have fun. If you push farming and complex systems too hard, people just quit. If you make it too easy, people get bored. Blizzard has never been good at this. So right now, they get the %25 of my total play time and lose %75 of it.

That would be a solution but you realize your statement is wrong.

You say bricking still happens, but bricking is when an item gets to a point it can’t change any more. It’s locked in. So if you can still change it with stone and gold investment it’s not bricked.

No darn way would I sacrifice a bloody stygian stone to pay for a re-roll. Why not just solve the issue instead of making it even dumber?

No, what I’m saying is have the ability to reroll the number on the long term with less-boss-runs type of investment and gold (not having rolled what you’re looking for can still happen though)

The bottom line is. If a streamer doesn’t complain about it or makes a YT video why tempering is bad, it’ll never get looked at. We’re all ****ing in the wind.

Your idea is a much better idea, consolidating the manuals like you suggested is great until you need that 1 temper and we’ll just run into the same issue, bricking them.

Personally I’d like to see a feature where you can force a temper but at a much lower value, worse case you can gamble and that’s a choice you make, you’re not forced. Or you force it shattering any remaining temper rolls and fixing it to a lower value.

Hard to make it perfect but any roll should help your character in some way with new system. You could have a preferred one but nothing bricks like rolling ice shard on your blizzard guy.
