FIX FOR: No Valid License error UPDATED

Notes: This should apply for Xbox & PlayStation

What happened to me, loaded up the game on Friday and all was fine, not a single problem, decided on Saturday to link my new Battlenet account to Xbox, loaded up the game and BOOM…No Valid License error.

Then after doing lots of research it dawned on me, why didn’t it on first load up not ask me for my Battlenet login?, then i thought hang on what is my Diablo 3 logged into?..so the research continued.

What caused this?..I had an old Battlenet account from playing Diablo 3 and forgot about it, so i created a new Battlenet account and linked Diablo IV to your new Battlenet account.

This is where the problem lies, when i installed Diablo IV it automatically assigned it to my old Battlenet account without me knowing so when i created a new Battlenet account and linked Diablo IV to it, it removed/confued the license because the new Battlenet account does not know you purchased Diablo IV as the purchase is on your old Battlenet account.

Still with me?

In simple terms…a step by step guide…

1: See if you can log into your old Battlenet account

2: If you can’t for various reasons like can’t remember the email or password contact customer support explaining your situation (this worked for me)

3: If you can log into your old Battlenet account look under “Games & Subscriptions”…you should see Diablo IV shown as Active and previous Blizzard games you have active.

4: If all of the above is done, log into your new Battlenet account and go to “Connections” and unlink your console from Battlenet…this causes you to log back into Battlenet (see 5)

5: Open up the game and it will ask you to log into your Battlenet account, you must enter the old Battlenet account e-mail and password associated with that account.

You are now linked back too your original game and license…Enjoy getting back into your game.

This is not fully my help, this was a lot of reading and other peoples ideas on this forum…so i take no credit for this.

p.s Hopefully you have a better time than i did, i could not get into my old Battlenet account as i could not verify my email address due to the email not being in use anymore but big thanks to customer support they sorted that for me and I’m now able to get back into my old Battlenet account.

Hope this helps.

Unfortunately all those things are true for me and this still didn’t work.

I can see the game active in my account but no luck.

Do you have two BN accounts?

My battle.net account shows active however I’m still having this issue. When I buy plat on the PS Store, it appears in my battle.net wallet. The accounts are linked, Diablo IV is active, but this issue STILL persists.

I’m in the same boat, Diablo IV is Active on my new BattleNet account but I still cannot play the game on PS5.

Unfortunately I can’t even look into my old one due to the email associated no longer being in use, however I’m a bit relieved to see it’s on the new one I created.

Unfortunately nothing you do will make this work because of this right here. It’s taken me the better part of 10 hours multiple sources, people, posts, and even answers from Sony to have this idea, I could be wrong but I don’t think I’m too far off, make sense.

Pretty sure I figured out the issue. Just follow me here guys.

  1. Blizzard releases Early Access but their authentication servers aren’t setup correctly for console users. Prompting a update to the authentication servers like a day later.
  2. update causes connectivity issues prompting a hot fix for all platforms.
  3. hot fix causes authentication servers to go into verification mode. Prompting Bnet account login from Diablo 4 main menu.
  4. because of the original authentication server issue from launch console users where assigned a generic bnet account randomly created by Diablo 4.
  5. Authentication Servers going into verification mode causes console users to link existing or creat new bnet accounts.
  6. bnet accounts do not match previously verified bnet account on launch. Generating a licensing issue inside their authentication servers.
  7. “ Unable to Verify Licensing Information Error Code 315306 “

“ Slow Clap “ way to go Blizzard!

Same here. D4 is Active in my newly created BN-Account and I still cannot play after I linked my PS5 and XSX-Accounts yesterday morning. Was playing 2 days before without any problems…Blizzard, wake up please!!! :frowning:

They are asleep at the wheel. I mean who launches one of the most anticipated titles in years only to let your entire support team take that weekend off? Blizzard, that’s who… :man_facepalming:

I have updated the post as there was some confusion when i mentioned “Active”…so i removed that part of the post, the game will be active on both old and new battlenet accounts, but the old account is where the correct license is stored.

Basically in simple terms, the game was originally linked to my old battlenet account with a licence, that would explain why when loading up for the first time it never asked me for my battlenet login, it already knew it from previous blizzard games (more than likely Diablo 3)

So when i linked Diablo 4 to my new battlenet account it lost it’s licence.

WARNING: If you have made any purchases on your new Battlenet account they will be lost once you get back into your old account.

I am now back into the game, with my level 22 Sorcerer that i was playing with on Friday…

Yes!

This is kind of similar to my experience.
Difference is that I played the D4 beta on PC and now defenitive D4 on PS5
After linking my PSN to Battlenet is messes sh*t up.

Battlenet thinks Im playing on my PC account while Im on my PS5. So it gives the error.
Even after unlinking my PSN with battlenet it will still ask you for a relink so I/m f*d

I even messaged Blizzard about it but they keep you in the dark and put you in an information loop, they refer you to their FAQ which refers you back to msging them.
I was soo mad that I asked a refund at Sony. They were very helpfull and were getting on it straight away. This is the last time I played a Blizzard game.

Yeah nothing has worked for me either. I was able to refund late yesterday by showing Sony the support ticket responses from Blizzard telling me to speak with them. I’ll buy again once I know they’ve fixed their problems, but at least I’m not out the extra money for missing early access.

First of all, you TALKED to a human in customer support?! I keep chasing my own tail to retrieve my other account. Can not get into my secondary account due to it being linked to an old number. So therefore, cant authenticate the account. They ask questions about old purchases and such (stuff that was never bought by me).
Secondly, why can’t I just unlink from bnet allowing me to relink with proof of purchase to the bnet I CAN get into?

All i said to Customer Support was that i cannot get into my old BN account because it ask me to verify my account by email, which i can’t because that email was deleted years ago, so they said give us a email that is not associated with Blizzard and i will go into the account and change your email.

So all i had to provide was:

My old email address (that is no longer in use)…i presume they need this to track down the BN account.
A new email address so they can remove the old one and update it with a new one.

The funny thing is, me and my son were going to play this together, but when I went in, it signed me in with his account. This forced him to make a new account, but when he did, it did not let him go into the game due to a license error. Thankfully, I found a way to bypass the error for now. Even though some people might not be able to do it, I hope that this helps none the less.

  1. Log in to the game on the account that was able to get in (use a controller that you won’t be using for the game)

  2. Plug the other controller that you want to use with the usb cord charger

  3. Hit the PlayStation button and switch to the other main acc that you want to play on.

  4. Then it will say that the acc is joining the game; at that time you can make your character and etc…

  5. Leave the game on the acc you got your main acc into (It will still say that the acc is connected, but just make sure not to join back with the options button)

This fix only works for people who have an active account that logged in

yep same thing happened to my husband and I

Dice did it with Battlefield 5, that game was a crap show for 4 months before it was actually playable

Got my old account recovered and now, after 3 days of agony, I can play again! Thank you Blizzard for the help!
