Hi I want to start by saying that the game is amazing in the art and graphics department, I love the world and it’s elements it feels like a real breathing world to me even though dungeons need a little more variation.
My disappointment with this games comes with the skill trees and skill design.
It feels like the skills were designed to be as bland as they could be so that aspects could reign supreme in making them, not only useful, but also looks cooler.
The basic skills are extremely boring in design and power and as the skills that you are obligated to be using the most it just feels boring after a while, other more creative and powerful skills needing a lot of resources and being on long cooldowns doesn’t help either.
I feel like that as first playthrough this is fine, but replaying the same characters is going to be a slog since you already know what skills are going to severely lack in potential without certain aspects.
I’d say that some skills also need more flair and impact, Sorcerer basic skills looks extremely weak and boring, while skills like Fire Wall and Meteor lack impact and are extremely situational as is.
My suggestion to this is to add more options to skills and make these options meaningful and build defining, for example.
- Fire bolt now sticks to enemies, can stick x numbers and they explode on a timer
- Heartseeker fires smaller homing shadow arrows dividing the damage through targets
- Wind Shear now acts more like a cone force wave
I’d like to see more stuff like this in the game.

I just REALLY wanted Disintegrate back for Sorcerer.
I get that Incinerate is D4’s version of Disintegrate but it isnt the same and also really weak compared to other Core skills, more dangerous to use since you have to stand still to channel.

Could be fixed by adding an upgrade path that makes the flame converge and more like a concentrated blue flame.
Like I said skills need more variations like this…

Yep D3 had those modifications for each skill to change up the mechanics or the way it does damage, these new trees have elective passives for skills where you can choose only 1 passive or the other.
Maybe there will be more legendary effects to change skills than last time

I think the issue with the skill trees is dependent on the class themselves.
Some are better than others. For example, rogue. You sort of pick if you want to be melee, or ranged… or a hybrid… then there are 2-3 skills for each of those playstyles that you can mix and match. With some extras like stealth, traps, etc. But with druids, if you want to be a wolf spec, you only get 1 ability from each tree… if you want to be storm… you get only 1 ability… same with earth…
The sorc is in a similar boat but at least with them, you get 2 for each element. I think we need more abilities in the trees to select, and not just have everything be tied behind the legendries.
My only real complaint about the skill tree is the layout of it. It doesn’t need to be so spread out like it is. I rather a d2 style tree than this mess.
lazyness and some HATRED there, kept D3 abomination things and they pretend D2 don’t exist.
