Feedback based on playing the Beta

My feedback applies to PC version as well. After playing the Beta, I hope the game can be updated. My feedback is just my opinion. I know the people who worked on this game spent a lot of time and effort so thank you to all the people involved.

I broke it down into sections for different aspects of the game. I also want to note there are spoilers so please do not read if you do not want to know about the game information or story.

Story

The story has some horror and sadness to it. This fits into the tone of the game. But, some parts are just difficult to comprehend. Rathma was still alive all this time? He was unable to stand against his Inarius, but we will be able to? The flash backs cut scenes would probably have been better done as a cinematic or something. Neyrelle and her mother’s story needs some work. Out of nowhere the mother just decides to follow Lilith and do what she asks? The cut scenes between Neyrelle’s mother and Lilith were kind of not that great. Neyrelle seems to know so much that it does not even make much sense that we need to assist her. She knows more about Necromancy than the necromancer. I am interested in where the story goes, but some parts of it could make more sense.

Gameplay

I enjoyed the game so far. I have to say some of the classes were impressive. The one that I wish I had more time to play was the Rogue. The combat was responsive for me. However, I wish you could actually customize your character build more. Each class just does not have enough skills. There should be a lot more skills for each class so that there are options and obviously all should be useful. For example, I would not be able to just play a non summoner darkness based Necromancer or non summoner of any of the other magic branches the Necromancer now uses. Some of the skills just also feel pointless to even be there. A lot of times the modifiers you can choose is limited to 2 and there is not much choice between those two. They should also just let players use a basic non-skill attack for example the attack the class uses that actually uses the weapon before they gain their first skill. This is a small thing that just does not make sense that they do not have. For the Rogue that should be two basic attacks since the Rogue has a melee and range weapon. You should be able to customize the stats of your character in a separate tree. Basically, right now it is all about the items. The items should make some difference, but it should not be the item that decides how you build the class. The way how they have it now is disorganized. Right now, your build lacks choice. The items make more changes to your skill than the actual skill tree itself. Some ultimate skills felt more like regular skills. The quests could be better. Mainly killing things and collecting things. Maybe some more interesting quests? The strongholds need some work. It was not even that fun to beat because some became towns and one of them was cleared to have more…monsters? I did not get it. Maybe more waypoints would be helpful. The world boss spawning should happen more frequently or at better times. Maybe this is for people who have a lot more free time, but waiting to see if it spawns was not fun. Sometimes it did not seem to spawn either. I wish there was some more interesting dungeons or other things to do. I also wish there was a non-online version of the game.

Graphics

Graphically this game seems okay. Maybe it is because I use an older console, but the graphics feel like it could be better. The cut scenes specifically when they are using the in-game graphics do not look very detailed. The environment sometimes looks better than the character models. Sometimes it looks like cups are floating. The model is skating on the floor without moving sometimes. You can see through the character model and there seems to be a lack of facial movement sometimes. At the end of some quests the people walk away or leave but instead of actually leaving they just fade away. Some skills visually could be more interesting. Overall, the graphics could be better for a game in such long development. Seems to have a lot of graphical glitches.

For the character creation screen I get that they want to keep certain body types for classes due to items although I feel it would be better for you to choose the character body shape that the player feels fits their vision. Same thing for the face, I wish we could actually create a more unique face although I know you probably will only see the items since I usually keep the items on, but still would be nice to choose face and body type.

User Interface

They should definitely have added the overlay map. I do not have any issue with the mini map though and use the larger map to track my movement, but the overlay map would also be very helpful. The tracking of the quests could be better. The font or typeface people keep talking about should be changed as a toggle. I am thinking though I do not know for sure maybe they choose the font they chose due to accessibility reasons. However, I will admit even knowing that it is not a font that matches the tone of the game. There needs to be more skill slots. You should be able to rearrange the keys to the actions to your liking.

Yep in D3 we had skills with 5 variants, no respec fee and didn’t have to reset most of your build to change something.

Even the UI for your skill tree is boring.

For the girl and her mother questline i felt had a pretty detailed story. Did you run through it and not click the stones with chalk markings? Her mother left notes throughout the dungeon while you where working your way to her. Imo they where pretty easy to miss seeing you could interact with them. They provided a fair bit of context and without reading them the story didnt flow as well.
