Download Speed stuck at 3mb/s

For some reason my download speeds are stuck around 3 mb/s even though I have 1 gig up and down. I’ve gone through countless youtube videos and tutorials but nothing is helping.
Does anyone have any suggestions?

Patience.
I downloaded it this morning, and my rate fluctuated between 3Mb/s - 14Mb/s over the hour it took to download.

Both my mates finished their downloads in minutes with the same connection i have, not sure why this is taking so long and is so inconsistent

Did you check the gear icon next to the download button for settings to make sure your download speed isn’t limited?

Do a speedtest, check your download options… is your internet limited to certain amount of data per month?

It is not limited, and my current speed is 989 Mbs through google speed test. I’ve gone through my network settings and everything looks fine.

Did all three of you download it at the same time of day?

It could be differences in bandwidth, if at different times, and dependent on how many other folks, elsewhere, were downloading it at the time.

The launcher has settings on it that limit download speed by default to a “download in background” type of functionality.

Check your Launcher settings to be sure the download speed is uncapped in the launcher.

I guess the good news is you can just let it run and it will be done in time for launch tomorrow no problem.

Yes, it is uncapped, i’ve fiddled with that based on youtube suggestions and nothing is changing the speeds. I keep ranging from 1-3mbs at all times.
The weird part is i downloaded the beta client in minutes.

Ok that is odd. Mine tends to start super slow but then I ignore it and it speeds up to something normal. Sounds like you have checked all the common issues:

  • Launcher settings
  • Local network
  • Other local network use
  • Overall ISP connectivity and speed

At this point I can only say just leave it running. Also you can copy the game from C:\Program Files (x86)\Diablo IV on one computer to an external drive, and paste it in at the same location elsewhere. Easy way to update multiple computers.

The launcher has a “find the install” option near the Install button to let you point it to the files. That might be an option if you have others who have the game handy, or want to put it on multiple devices.

Not that it matters much to people who already have it downloaded, though it might be relevant for folks who haven’t started it yet, but I just checked my launcher settings, and it was capped at 100Mb/s (even though my download rate never got anywhere close to that fast). Still only took around an hour, though.

I didn’t set that cap myself; it appears to be a default setting.

Thanks, I’ve tried this and unfortunately same issues. I started a download on steam and was getting over 20 x the speed b net is giving me right now. I’m not sure what’s going on.

What is your current exact setting for this in the Battle.net app?

Limit download bandwidth is unchecked

This will sound dumb, but I think I’ve had a couple issues in the past with the download speed cap getting bugged out in the settings after I had it on and then turned it off later.

Maybe try setting a cap to something higher like 50MB/sec and just see if anything changes after setting it.

This isn’t such a bad idea. Set the bandwidth to 500 Mbit/sec temporarily. If your speed goes up, then subsequently unchecking the checkbox again and clicking Done should theoretically return your speeds to expected levels. The Battle.net app can be finnicky that way.

I’ve tried this as well, unfortunately same end result. Whatever is happening is only affecting b net because steam is fine, and tried updating wow classic and it was stuck at 3 mbs as well.

Mine last night stuck around 27-32 for the first 80%. Maybe a lot of late downloaders this morning/afternoon slowing it down.

I always had he same problem with battle net and only with it, rodr d3, d2r and now D4. Already posted in the past on support, but it was useless. All I checked, settings, speedtest, Windows firewall, and so on…
Steam download is like flash superhero, the problem.is not my connection

I think blizzard should investigate why for someone batllenet download are so slow.
