Does anyone miss the ‘Magic Find’ attribute on items and better overall items

I think one of the main reasons why Diablo 2 was so fun was Magic Finding. Also the reason why when Diablo 3 first came out, it was, to me, a lot more fun due to items having Magic Find and getting Magic Find buffs from killing elites.

Does anyone miss having the Magic Find attribute to their items? And items being just overall a lot better than what Diablo 4 is offering? It’s a little bit too much with stuff like Overpower etc, it’s just beyond what is necessary IMO. The items need to be dumbed down a bit.

I personally love the magic find dynamic. I wish it was in this game, but I’m fairly certain the majority of players do not. So with that understanding, it probably shouldn’t be in the game. But I wish it was anyway.

For what ? Rare items arent actually rare. Most of the time I have to TP at least once per dungeon to sell stuff.
With the upcoming patch legendaries are guaranteed for certain activities.

One thing I don’t miss. A lot of times you had to sacrifice damage for MF.

MF is a horrible stat that encourages you to use bad gear. It needs to stay dead and buried under the dust heap of history.

It was really interesting back in the day, but it didn’t age well.

It would be interesting to bring it back, but only maybe as a ‘+other’ kinda thing. Like if you choose 10% shadow resist or 10% MF. Something you choose as an ‘eh why not’ type of roll, i wouldn’t want it anywhere near my gear otherwise. Especially not with how D4 plays… you need every point and % in most cases, this game is built around hard lines and solid parts with very little room for ‘fun’ things like MF.

nah, magic find on items was always weird, you gimp yourself as much as possible for whatever content you intent to farm.

that goes against the core of ARPGs of growing stronger and stronger by finding better and better items. like as soon as you can do the content, maximize MF.

you never even use the items you find on that character since that would mean less MF.

but i do miss a sense of risk vs reward, all nightmare dungeon affixes should have a corresponing MF or quantity bonus, depending on how dangerous they are.
as it is now, annoying or dangerous ones are just instant salvage.
if there was a reward for doing them, you’d think about if its worth running.

also yes, there are a lot of useless filler stats that just lengthen the time it takes to find anything good. stats not even niche builds would use. like 3s buffs on killing an elite, thats just way too short to ever use.

That was the point so we had hard choices to make.

Min/max damage or sacrifice damage to increase quality.

Is it better to do 100 runs fastet without MF or better to do 80 slower but with MF for the drops.

I liked having that option as if added another dynamic to the game.

I think for me, they need to adjust something like either a loot filter or separate really good items from the general. Right now all ancestral rares and legendaries are the thing. Legendaries are just aspects and often drop as sacreds even in high NMDs and rare ancestrals are just an rng attribute fest to move to the enchanter to roll for a 1% increase in your gear. Uber uniques dont exist because by the time you are clearing level 85+ content the game is mostly over and your gear is at 95%+.
Dont get me wrong, you can push to 100 for Lilith and NMD 100 clears, but there is no longer a carrot to chase and nothing to hunt. You dont get excited when gear drops, it is more like a pick up auto and go. You then can only have your potential excitement moment at the damn vendor when selling waves of junk and maybe the thousandth inventory clear you found 1 item that is GG…It is like flipping through a book of where’s waldo images, when you find him it is a bit of a relief but not fun.

Just more thinking and number crunching. An aspect I HATE in games. If I wanted that I’d just play puzzle games.

I play video games to literally sit on my butt and vegetate.

Personally I’m happy its off itemization. I like Last Epochs approach which is to add it to dungeons. The more you push the higher MF. D2 was neat but some classes/builds was hard to build wealth due to lacking MF such as bowazon.

This dev team is so detached from itemization there’s no hope. They’re still thinking couple nerfs and buffs will make loot interesting.

Itemization is the main reason I quit all together, by the looks of other posts most people aren’t happy with it either. Regardless, none of this gets addressed by devs and gives reason to believe nothing will change at least for a long time.

Blizzard North are the fathers to this series, elevated itemization— only for these guys to flush it cuz it’s an old game. Stinks but it is what it is. Gg devs.

Not for me, I hated MF on gear. Was another useless stat to me that just hindered progress until you got enough of it to be worthwhile which was something like 300% in D2? Some absurd number that only shout barbs would ever get and they’d be useless in a fight.

I’d rather look at loot as a whole, than Band-Aid it with MF.

Every shrine should give magic find as a sub bonus. Grouping up should add magic find as well, like previous Diablos.

**I wish magic find was actually increase unique find.

Sorcerer and pally were really good mfers but yeah still don’t like it

I miss the statistic, I do not miss the charms in the inventory though.

Pushing players even further to group up in a game that has no in game method to find groups sounds like one of the worst ideas on the planet.

You know what that means…

Blizzard will probably do it.

You have Discord and the open world(trade, area chat). I agree a better method would be preferred. Anything to encourage grouping up is a good idea.

You must be on the other end of my RNG as there have been quite a few times I have only received 1 row or less of items.
But there has been the rare time when I have had to T out and in because of items.

But T’ing in and out, has been more often to get healing.
yes I am playing a Sorc
