DM is right, something needs to change with the negativity

Just think this forum needs to hear this and listen and grow. Futile, I know, but whatever.

The way I see it, the negativity has been left to fester because Blizzard chooses not to address it. When people are pissed off, whether their reasons are valid or not, and you choose to stonewall them or sidestep issues with typical corporate-speak, this is the only logical outcome. Games that have devs or community managers that are much more active don’t nearly have the same magnitude of negativity. Granted, the player base is likely much higher here to begin with which makes community engagement tougher, but again running away from the problem is hardly a solution.

He’s right. The complainers need to go find something that makes them happy in life and pursue it.

This has nothing at all to do with Diablo.

Look, the folks that actually stop to post a message on a YouTube video, or even on these forums are an extreme minority within the community as a whole, and also the type of folks who are prone to enjoyment getting into debates/discussions/arguments with others.

So naturally, any content creator is going to feel this way since if the video gets say 100k views, 99.9k of those people just watched and left, the remaining are those who like to argue and inject an opinion.

This holds true regardless of what topic is being discussed, not just D4, or even video games in general.

The gaming industry is overdue for a reckoning with it’s customers, for selling products that don’t do what they say they’re going to do, pre-launch. Diablo 4 isn’t even close to the worst offender, here. There have been several AAA games released over the last 5 years that were flatly fraudulent in how badly they misrepresented the game during the pre-release marketing.

I can appreciate this issue, and yes things have gotten really toxic. But the party that needs to fix that is the studios, not the consumers.

Gaming is being ruined, it isn’t by gamers (us), its shareholders and development release dates. That’s pretty much it, and it is so much more political internally in these “AAA” studios.

Greed, incompetency, and in-office politics are the only thing ruining gaming.

At least we got the balls to stand up and say screw your unfinished game. I don’t feel bad.

I think it does somewhat at least. The issue of negativity surrounding Diablo 4 (and other games in general) and the extremism displayed by people. It’d be nice to take part in conversation about Diablo without it immediately devolving into flaming. I dunno. Just felt like sharing this video honestly.

pls everyone drown your feelings and be apathetic or fake having fun

That’s not what is being said but alright. Thank you for lending your voice.

It would be nice to take part in any kind of unmoderated discussion without it devolving into flaming, but that is just the internet in general.

DM is a good content creator and you can tell how much he both enjoys his work and also the games he plays and what he is saying here isn’t wrong at all, it just goes well beyond just D4, or gaming in general.

Try and have a discussion on the LoL forums, or the Lost Ark forums (JK these got deleted) or even some forum about how to paper mache and you’ll still end up in a devolving discussion within the hour lol.

Complaining works with blizzard devs, its a fact. So the more people complain the more likely they will change things

I know it’s not related to the video or the OP point

IMO it’s part of the issue, but everyone has to start talking with their wallets, just like everything else. Once people actually make a financial negative impact on the industry. Good games will come again. Gamers, Casuals, and Gaming will be less Negative overall.

Less people would be a White-knight or a Troll, because they don’t have to convince themselves it’s “Fun” when somethings in the end just aren’t or justify why their purchase wasn’t a waste of money when they feel deep down something just isn’t right (especially with the BS 2hour return windows for most gaming services, since most games are good the first 2HRs of course some are trash from the start i.e. Gollum)… because everything would be more than “Good Enough”

The Industry seems like it’s at its lowest point… or getting really close to a point of no return. Right now we are all frustrated in one way or another about the current era of gaming.

DM seems cool, down to earth kind of guy, cool to see he’s starting to make more than just D4/Gaming content.

Guys like DM and Asmongold make their money from entertainment and the cheapest kind is drama. Nobody really cares about this stuff with all of the trouble in the world right now. It’s a distraction from reality.

Many of these youtubers all have opinions, many of them flip flop for views because its easy money once you reach a certain point and you can monetize, that is the dream so many have and honestly, just because one person has 10 followers vs 1000000 followers shouldn’t make any difference in the grand scale of things.

If you have valid criticism of the game and post those criticisms then you should be able too without a hundred fanbros, shills and white knights trying to silence the narrative that the game has issues and is bad. Even some youtubers do this by white knighting and even trying to make content reading peoples ‘whines’, its pathetic really.

As for the current state of gaming, I made a huge post last week about it in depth with valid points and criticisms of the current state of gaming.

And by complainers you mean : Anyone that thinks the game can be improved.

I remember your posts back in beta. Even if there was a lot of criticism on the forums it was mostly constructive… these white knights are something new, possibly Blizzards form of damage control or people with truly nothing better to do in their lives. The flip flop is real to the point where they don’t even try anymore. Goes to show what kind of monetary influence these streamers wield when they have legions of mouthbreathers behind them.

I can’t take that guy seriously after the way he shilled for Diablo Immortal while everyone was trying to call its predatory monetization out.
