Your best option is to use a controller at this point. I wouldn’t bank on wasd movement anytime soon. I personally wouldn’t use it even if it was in the game but I find no fault with those who want it in.
Playing diablo games for over 20 years using the mouse to move I think personally it would just feel weird to me otherwise.
Why do you need 4 movement buttons…FOUR MOVEMENT BUTTONS for a game that only needs 1. You hold left click or in my place hold W and move in the direction of your mouse pointer. 4 versus 1…I’ll take the simplicity of 1 any day of the week.
I’m not about to download a dog crap game to test something I’ve been doing for 20+ years. WASD is for 1st person or 3rd person movement. Left click is for Isometric. It’s made for simplicities sake.
It effects me because it takes development time away from making the game the best it can be.
It 's a matter of habit .I recommend that you put a punch on the number 1 , and not with the mouse .So it’s easier to beat mobs and run and attack. And reduce the dpi of the mouse , you will miss less .It’s very serious when you don’t see the mouse and pointer.Try my version, not with the mouse, but with the number 1. The right solution is if they add this. (you can put another skill on the mouse.)If you don’t understand about dpi, you won’t ever understand until you do and see the result.
evasion is done in the same way as wasd , you do not need to lead the mouse to the screen .In the direction of the character, he moves it himself
your going to have to go to a third party sight and get phished to $#%^ to find out as there is nothing technical provided from the company. all mechanics are from streamers and .gg .$#%off sites
It effects me because it takes development time away from making the game the best it can be.
Shouldn’t be to hard to implement it. Controller joystick can be boiled down to wasd and then extrapolated from there. If controller is already in there it should be a trivial remapping that should take a developer at most 3 days of work. Then you use QA to test for a day. Only 1 day I would say because it is already there and QA’d for controllers. This is not a burdensome task at all and this would made the game better, make the game more comfortable and accessibility for more players.
If you don’t like wasd for additional movement that is fine, then just don’t use it and people who want more ways to play the game can use it. Everyone wins, literally. I can’t understand how selfish and conceited you need to be to refuse extra functions that offer more comfort for other people. Unbelievable. This function would literally made the game better, as you said, but not for you and if I need to guess that is what bothers you.
There is no backward movement in this game if you understood how blocking worked you would understand that turning away from your opponent takes away 100% of your defensive skills allowing a true WASD function would have to facilitate a massive rewrite of combat including combination movement like W+A/D, S+A/D (known as strafing) its a lot more complicated than just adding a 3rd and 4th axis.
You don’t need strafing… you don’t need massive rewrites…
If you move a joystick to the right, your character turns to the right and runs in that direction
If you press D on your keyboard, your character turns to the right and runs in that direction
If you moved the joystick up and right, your character would run up and right (or north-east)
If you held W+D, your character would run up and right (or north-east)
You would not add strafing. It’s incredibly simple and I don’t know why you’re attempting to make it so much more complicated than it would be. It’s literally already been done by a third party program. Press D, it clicks to the right of your character. Press W, it clicks above your character. Instead of clicking, you would just emulate the joystick with WASD.
Why would you think the two steps of positioning your cursor, and then triggering the actual movement, is easier than pressing a key corresponding to the direction you want to move in?
Is everything going to be a 2-step process so we don’t make the controller people look bad?
The reason why Lost Ark was “banning over a million players per month” was because they had millions of bots. All clipping through walls, following the same paths, doing the same thing in the exact same patterns. It also took them months to do anything about it at all… why? Because it took actual people months to figure out how to flag certain things they were doing… so they could then be automatically banned. Some wonderful, amazing, incredibly smart Anti-Cheat, didn’t catch anything. But sure, you win, you’re so smart. Guess you sure showed me.
And I’m sure they added randomization now just because you were so smart to tell him he should have done that. Surely, the thread from last week that said specifically he did this already, something programs like Razer also include in their macro software, must have been wrong, and they owe everything to your absolute genius. Guess everyone will be banned after all because Signild definitely knows what he’s talking about… Or, you should wear a helmet.
I’ve been playing Diablo since Diablo 1. I want WASD. I also understand how keyboard turners and clickers would prefer everyone to be forced to play in their preferred mediocre way. But that’s bad design. Hopefully Blizzard remedies this sooner than later.
I just don’t understand how there have been so many posts of people asking for info about WASD movement being implemented, and there are still people who will always chime in about how no one wants it. I can assure you a lot of people want it and even those who don’t no one is telling you to use it. I just think everyone should have the ability to play with the movement method they prefer using. Just add WASD already.
Well, captain obvious. Maybe, now hear me out. Maybe, just maybe, the forums are a small tiny group of ppl that dont make up the majority of the Diablo community, and dont speak for everyone.
I know lots of ppl that are diablo fans that will always be against WASD and will not play the game if it is ever implemented.
You only want WASD if you are looking to cheat or exploit the game in some way.
Your right the forums are a small percentage. I have 3 friends who are not playing the game because it doesn’t have WASD movement. I’m sure many more are out there who would play the game if they add it.
Idk, the associate director liked a tweet fairly recently suggesting WASD as a parallel project to their tweet about making gamepads more accurate for things like teleport.
