As I recall, he was forced into that and I think he had it done within a day or so, and knew he would never go back.
But I think he was…enticed to do it initially.

That is the thing. D2 just was a good game so people played it naturaly. D4 is not a good thing so they cluster it with FOMO and other psycological tricks to make people play it. Nostalgia helps em also.
It’s realy a shame…
We all know the answer to that yet the first comment here is “what has he done lately?”. That’s pure vitriol for just voicing his opinion which btw many of us agree with!
Proving him right according to your own taste in video games, correct. Why I said different strokes for different folks. You aren’t wrong, but neither is Timmy over there who loves to blast in games like these over and over again.
D2 was a great game, 24 years ago. But IMHO it has aged like spilled milk under a hot sun. It’s slow, clunky, & tedious, & the inventory management is terrible.
Can we please just let it go already? O, also, someone mentioned Hellgate London? Was David Brevik involved in that? Because if so … yeesh.
Personally, it’s not even about D2. And I don’t think Brevik talked about D2 too much in the interview.
Honestly though, if I was a D4 developer and saw the comments in here I wouldn’t even care to try making the game even slightly better. I would genuinely think I am a god dev and my game is GG. Good stuff.
Replace my comments regarding D2 with D1, & I don’t think they’d change much. Look, I loved both games, but time marches on, & it looks like Brevik has not.
I can only repost something I posted a day or two ago and leave it at
That. "Actually NO The game was ruined by managements deciding to make
Their $$$ from Overpriced MTX Cosmetics not selling the game, And
Because of this Buzzard is going down and good riddance! It may not be
This year or the next. But once a company starts cheating their
Customers for a little extra $$$ that companies doomed. And it’s just
A matter of time."
Well… Brevik has tried twice since D2.
Hellgate: London
Marvel Heroes
Both are gone today.
Neither of the 2 “top” titles hit the mark for pacing for me. I prefer PoE2, but there’s no way I will be making it a game I play seasonally. It took way too much of my time to get everything done I wanted to do.
D4 has the opposite problem in that I’m sure as I have done many seasons I could be blasting in T4 in a couple hours if I played this season.
I’ve said it tons of times-I want to ultimately blast through what once may have been challenging content along my journey. I don’t understand people that always want this 5-10+ min boss fight in an ARPG.
I swear if I hear “meaningful combat” one more time. Yet of all of them, I push more buttons in PoE1 than I do in D4 and PoE2 combined.
Personally, I think it’s because people truly believe that “skill” in these games is anything but 1. Time investment and 2. A reasonable understanding of the game’s systems.
PoE2 is newer and what I’ve been playing so I’ll say-Nobody I know or read posting is running high delirious maps, save for a few of us. Everybody is doing breach because it is easy and fairly lucrative in rewards. Why? Because the general player base does not want a challenge, because these games are and always have been mostly about efficiency.
He’s the reason you’re on this forum. And playing Diablo 4.
That…is what he has done.
He made you.
He’s literally describing Spiritborn season 6 and some of the stuff we’ve got going on right now.
The 1 shotting everything instakilling the whole screen 10 trillion bazillion damage stuff could do to get toned down a bit.
Yeah Poe and Diablo are guilty of this in truth it’s why I mostly play d2r still to this day
I looked at the article and totally agree with what he said.
Only problem is modern gamer’s want instant gratification….if blizzard changed everything tomorrow to be slower paced ppl would be torching this place.
I’m sorry but he did not do it alone and does not deserve all of the credit
The creator? Obviously he had employees bless their little hearts too. Everyone posting on this forum is here because of David. Whatever experience you have playing Diablo 4 is because David Brevik created Diablo 1.
Brevik is definitely right in those two quotes. And yeah, it isnt only D4 that has become bad.
It seemed like a fair question. There’s two sides of the story and both seem worthy of being considered.
Is the answer such a problem that only a transparent attack on the asker was an available option?
Who cares what the asker has done lately, it’s got nothing to do with the relevant parts of the story.
Yeah I was very underwhelmed by loot in PoE 2 as even the endgame felt very unrewarding to me at least. The one thing that is awesome in that game though is the fluid nature of classes and leaving you open to build what you want.
Exactly. Its almost like no one remembers the complaints post launch of slow grinds, backtracking in dungeons, and low drops.
“Respect the players time”
Well, here you go. D3 Revisited. Enjoy.
