The servers for Diablo 4 have been a mess lately. Your ping skyrocketing from a normal 100 to over 1600 is just unacceptable. It’s infuriating to see such lag ruin your gameplay, especially when you’re doing everything right but the game’s just not keeping up. Dying 5 to 10 times due to lag is beyond frustrating! It’s like fighting an invisible enemy that only shows up to take you down when the game decides to catch up.
1: Diablo 4 servers have been extremely laggy recently, causing ping spikes from 100 to 1600 and above. This has led to multiple deaths due to unresponsive gameplay despite player actions.
2: Numerous instances of unresponsive gameplay have resulted in player deaths, despite their efforts to manage the situation by using potions and attacks. The lag issues have severely impacted the overall gaming experience in Diablo 4.
3: The significant increase in ping and subsequent unplayable lag for the past few days has hindered smooth gameplay, making it nearly impossible to engage with enemies effectively. This has led to frustrating deaths and a deteriorating gaming experience.
Addressing this is crucial for the game’s integrity and player satisfaction. It’s not just about inconvenience; it’s impacting your ability to enjoy the game you love. The developers seriously need to get their act together and fix these server issues. Players deserve better than this - they’re investing time and often money into a game that should deliver a smooth and immersive experience, not a laggy nightmare that ruins the fun.

ahh… well usually im “mostly” fine…, some streamers sometimes seem to have trouble with big lagg as well, i saw DM having big lagg in hardcore not to long ago and his druid ended up dying twice
im sure you’re right some have it worse then other for sure
Im german potato and i know that our servers dont have the fittest hamsters in the running wheels.
If there are two orb-sorcs at a world boss the lag and stuttering (dia-show) is getting really mad. I wonder how this could happen in 2023.
Maybe turn down the graphics to EGA/CGA Mode? Or enable text adventure mode to save resources.
I was having all kinds of issues last week but I had a bad wire from the pole to my house, got it fixed and haven’t had an issue since.
It sounds like you dont want to pin any blame on blizzard, but my connection worked fine last weekend, and now its just poop

I started to have issues at the start of Season 2 and only for D4. I suspected my problem to be server/shard changes as sometimes I had no issues and the game would went crazy after a handover then start to work properly after another, I decided to try ExitLag. It solved my problem.
I probably had spike issues (which probably resulted in me being thrown to a suboptimal server during a handover) and offloading that to ExitLag by picking a route did the trick.
If you are having issues, using a VPN (any VPN) with the ability to chose routes might do the trick.
I hope this helps.

No one should need to get a 3rd party item (free or not) just so you can be lag free.
It is not about what “should be” or “should not be”. It is about practicality of solving a problem.
I had an issue and I managed to solve it with a VPN. In the interest of helping out someone who might not have solved their problem yet, I shared what I did. Hopefully, someone can solve their problem with this solution as I expect it to end up being a considerably faster solution than waiting Blizzard to “fix” their servers to our individual needs.
I find this approach to be much more helpful.
Playing from NZ the helltide and peak time lag spikes make helltides almost unplayable… i have lost track of the number of lag spike deaths that have cost me half my cinders.
its a big part of the game to get mats… Please sort it Blizzard… i know im not the only one with issue by a long way

I’ve noticed it too, the ping regularly sits at 200+ just idling in town.
It’s making me straight up not engage with content because I refuse to lose a HC character to Blizzard cheaping out on proper server bandwith.
I 200% ruled out anything on my end. Wired fiber optic connection, no hardware or bandwith strain, can open any other online game on top of D4 and have 2ms ping etc yada yada

blizzard isnt responsible for the whole internet lol. not much they can do if you have a huge packet loss on your route.
a Vpn is a fast solution. do a tracerouting first to see if there is a huge packet loss first tho. talking to the ISP is a step you can do then.

No, they arent responsible for the whole internet, but its in their realm to have servers that can service the population and not be a lag-fest. If they cant provide servers that arent total garbage for their game, then they dont need people buying their crap–they are marketing a crap product that they hope YOU will remedy on your own.
Thats the point
My trace shows <1ms both ways, but maybe lag isnt bad at this hour. My ISP isnt amazing, but too many people with similar issues to not conclude its a blizz problem

Well, im playing on Europe servers, yet i dont endure the laggs the OP is dealing with.
People are rather fast to blame the servers, when infact they got plenty options to make sure everything works fine on their part. (often its the people with the super duper massive rigs
)
any package loss? id also let the traceroute run for like 10 minutes or so, just to have a bigger picture of whats happening.
Btw, this stuff can also happen with super awesome ISPs. I remember where my league of legends was acting up like hell a few years back. Figured one of the machines on my Route to Riot servers was acting up faulty, resulting in a massive package loss ^^
oh im also not saying the servers are 100% perfect. i mean, especially early in the season i face a bit of rubberbanding too ^^
try rebooting you’re router , they gum up just like a pc and need to clear the mem from time to time. Alot of people don’t think about that but it happens , maybe log into it and refresh the dns settings too, maybe it’ll give you a new traceroute to the server.
I will try it, but really think its a blizz issue and not having enough servers

I have been having major lag issues over the last three days. I have always encountered lag spikes, but now it is constant and to the point, my character can barely move. It is annoying AF. I end up logging out.
My god, you are a shameless, blind, white knight. And you have no idea what you’re talking about. If someone has no lag elsewhere, but D4 lags, it’s an insanely obvious situation. Further, a massive amount of people experience the lag, specifically relegated to D4.
You are aware, there are multiple D4 servers, across the entirety of Europe, right?
