Diablo 4 second expansion rumors/predictions

A lot of the player base by now might have guessed that in the second expansion we might be going to Khanduras in places like Tristram or westmarch, however I would like to entertain the prediction that instead the second expansion has a good chance that it could take place in Xiansai, an East Asian themed island in northern sanctuary between the two continents.

The reasons for this prediction is because Diablo 4 has been beefing up the Xiansai lore from the start of the game. This not only the homeland of Neyrell but also the birthplace of Akarat and we may be following his story more now that (No spoilers). Meanwhile there has been no mention of Tristriam yet in the story. Xiansai has been in the Diablo lore since Diablo 3 even appearing on the main map and having a few characters in D3 act 2 from there. Xiansai is a very lore heavy part of sanctuary and the devs might want to take us there eventually in D4 because we have never been there in any Diablo game.

If we do end up going to Xiansai in the second expansion there will be dissapointement by fans who were expecting (more like hoping) to go back to Khanduras, but I make my predictions on what I see not what I wish and I have seen lots of hints since the D4 launch that we are going to Xiansai, hence I make this prediction to tell you all now that so you too can see it coming before that backlash of not getting to go to Tristriam again. Xiansai however will be a very cool, different, lore rich, diverse, and aesthetically pleasing zone to visit that when the expansion launches people won’t mind that we aren’t going to tristriam like how when they started playing the Spiritborn they didn’t mind anymore that the Paladin wasn’t the new class. Fans tend to make expectation based on nostalgia rather than imagine something new. However despite the excitement I have for the new zone, there will be addition D4 hate by bigoted fans who will just not like the zone for anti Asian reasons claiming that D4 is a DEI game, but they will be a minority. This expansion would be like the fourth expansion for WoW but without the cringy Pandas.

Just to be clear, I do not work for Blizzard and I am not under any NDA and I really have no idea what Blizzard is cooking for the second expansion, this is merely a prediction of mine based on the massive amounts of Xiansai lore dumps we have been getting and nothing more.

Paladins or Crusaders don’t hail from Xiansai though.

But if Mephisto started a new religion in Akarats body, they would come looking for him.

Really don’t think we’re getting a Paladin or Crusader class in D4. Dev team has been bizarrely evasive whenever it’s brought up. They seem very determined to make new classes and avoid further rehashes.

You thought we were getting a Paladin? I never said that in my prediction. Who knows what new class we will get? All I predicted was the new zone.

Blizz’s pattern is to typically tie expansion class to expansion lore/zone no matter the game. If one thinks we’ll get a paladin, then probably not an Asian themed zone. If you think an Asian themed zone, then probably not a paladin. Me personally I’m setting myself up to be disappointed and believing some form of holy knight is coming.

If you look at a map Xiansai appears to be way too small of an expiation. If I recall the area is the home of the D3 Wizard.

VoH was revealed more than 1 year ago in November so I doubt they stick to the annual expansions plan if we even get a second one.

In a Gamescom interview Rod already walked back his previous comment about annual expansions.

He was acting like he never said “annual.” What a guy many of us saw the comment about annual.

I’d say he weirdly dodged the question so he won’t oopsie if they can’t deliver. I guess they were waiting for the voh numbers.

Yet VoH was just D2A3 2.0 :joy:

So when it comes to classes, they dont wanna use old stuff, but everything else is fair game?

Yea… I can see the devs having that braindead logic.

They need to go back to the old classes at least to paladin doesn’t matter how many brand new classes they brainstormed, game is screaming for a holy class.

He said “annual” in a video, but let’s face it, an expansion every year doesn’t seem likely, which is unfortunate in my opinion.

An expansion a year is ridiculously ambitious, and generally not a good idea, but the cliffhanger nature of the story (both main game and VOH) almost demands such a thing.

The expansions are exactly every year but close to every year, more like every year and 4 months. The next expansion isn’t predicted to come out in 2025 rather Spring 2026 which isn’t exactly every year on the year but it’s more frequent than WoW expansions which come out every two years. A year and a half is more accurate to the what they actually plan to deliver. And the second expansion has been in development for years even before the base game launched but they could always opt to delay it if they want to cook longer, they might take more time developing the expansion as suppose to rushing a half baked product out the door but I digress, you know Blizzard.

2nd expansion will release with 2 additional heroes and cost 99$. It will have a new campaign which will be better than VoH. IT will have a huge leap forward for gameplay in some way maybe set items perhaps. IT will also have a major update in the shop and will sell alternate skill effects putting them more in par with other games. Finally, they will announce QoL coming with the removal of loading other stashes and a stash tab rehaul. Rune tab will be able to hold all runes as well.

Paladin
Witch Doctor

If we dont get paladin soon entire playerbase will revolt.

Why are we going to get all of this? Because true competition forces you to upgrade your game and get out of your “good enough” comfort zone and that competition has lets say it this way = Le Toucan has arrived. Praise.

I also think it will be Xiansai for the same reasons. But that doesnt mean a new class or expansion has to be exclusively related to that area.

Started as a joke, I have taken a liking to the idea of getting a Pirate class next (firearms/arquebus/musket and daggers or something else). After seeing the merchant from POE I think it would be a fun to play.
The class is not some crazy abonimation of an idea and would fit with any new theme, as the next area is cut off by the sea and I assume we will have to travel by ship one way or another.

With that out of the way, I want not one, but two class additions for each expansion. One familiar class from previous entries and one new.
