Hi, i keep having fenris error these days, mostly it crashes as soon as i log in my character. If limiting the framerate to 60 or even 30, the game lasts longer but eventually crashes as well.
Most of the crash logs refer to “RenderThread” handling fatal error.
One of the recent crash code is:
8880B8D8-8A39-4B35-892A-29AAF6207746
Following is the detail situation:
Is this a crash to desktop, does the client freeze and close, freeze and stall, freeze and recover? -crash to desktop + fenris
How frequent are these crashes/freezes? -when first time playing, maybe 3 hours; then every time i log in to my character.
Does it affect all characters or only a specific character? -all
Do you get any sort of error message, error code or crash ID? -8880B8D8-8A39-4B35-892A-29AAF6207746
What troubleshooting beyond the post I link have you already done?
1.Cancel XMP
2.Cancel HDR
3.Reset Nvidia control panel
4.Reinstall Diablo4
5.Remove hi-res texture
6.Change the game setting to low
7.Turn off Nvidia reflex
8.Change “disable chroma effect” in LocalPrefs to 1
9.Change the game folder to another HDD
10.Updating GPU driver
11.Limiting framerate to 60 (crashes less), 30(crashes lesser)
Only 11 reduces the crash chance, but it doesn’t eliminate the problem.
I had the same issue. The fix for me was to make sure my computer always used to dedicated graphics.
Nvidia Control Panel can do this, but if you are on windows 11, I believe Windows 11 controls it now instead (type in Graphics Settings). If your computer has a manufacturer program it may also have a setting to set which graphics card it uses.
Seems a lot of them have them set on a hybrid mode that chooses which one is needed.
The error you have is the same one I had, hope this helps.
Blizzard what is wrong with your game?!
I died today with my hardcore character because of your non-stop crashes?!?!?!
70 euro for what? For errors on every 30 minutes and praying to not be dead when login again???
Thank you, after doing this I haven’t had a Fenris Diablo 4 crash since I changed this setting to high performance.
If anyone else sees this, definitely give it a shot. Diablo 4 wasn’t in my list but I used browse to find Diablo 4 exe. Not the launcher, and added it to the list.
My crashing started yesterday and was pretty much non-stop all day (total of 12 in all).
However, after reading the boards, it was mentioned that there was a problem w/ limiting the frame rate. I believe this is when my problems started since I don’t have a 4k monitor, I limited my FPS to 60.
Anyway, I set my graphics to “Ultra” and it has been stable ever since.
Yeah, whatever the issue is, it just started w/in the 36 hours or so.
I moved my settings back down to “High” after I received an out of memory popup error w/ the Ultimate setting and it’s still more stable for me but I am getting the crash to desktop. Just a lot less frequent.
Getting the same Fenris error, tried all steps, reached out to support. Tried Ultra settings, tried win 11 graphics control settings, running d4 in 30 fps in 1080p on an 4080 and current gen i9 and still cannot play for more than 2 minutes???
Same issues here. Ryzen 3600 / 2070 super. I have tried many different graphics settings, texture settings, resolutions. No difference. Nothing is overheating and not running out of ram or vram. Latest four drivers, still same issue.
