Diablo 4 is the most anti-social multiplayer game I've ever played

The devs hurt themselves on this one. I have no idea why they put in a half-baked chat system when previous games were really good. Especially in D3. Closed Beta had a least a general chat channel and was very active. Then the game launched without. There was no general chat, trade chat, or server chat. This was the biggest head scratch for me. This instantly forced players to find chat alternatives outside of the game.

When did they have the difficulties within the company ? Before closed beta or after it ?

When they had to switch teams could the new team not have access to the chat mechanic ?

Is it possible the chat system was taken out because the release date was fast approacing and it wasnt ready ?

I have no answers, thats why im asking questions, the timeline is important to nail down as to when some things did and didnt make it into the game at release.

For example the weapon/gear crafting, that system is so freshman and simple compared to other games already on the market its hard for me to think this crafting system was the plan all along.

The title of this topic should be “Blizzard is the clingiest gaming company to date”, way more fitting.

Yeah, I feel like Diablo players are mostly solo folks that just party for efficiency, not because of any desire to group up and chitchat or any of that. I think people coming more from an MMO background get confused by that. D4 definitely makes it worse though since in theory it LOOKS like a game you’d be trying to group up with others in. :v:

Maybe the chatsystem was loading all other players chats or something stupid like that lol.

still think fallout 76 is more anti social than d4 but its pretty close

Thats the true MMO experience by Blizzard™

I think they just wanted to create some FOMO for all their cosmetics.
But totally miss the mark on what create game longevity (real player interaction).
Which, I guess, is to everybody’s loss… Theirs and ours… :frowning:

Yup. Exactly. Of the first 6 news stories on the launcher, four of them are about cosmetics. Which are class locked. On a 90$ game. I’m not paying 16$ CAD for cosmetic horse armor on a game I already paid 90$ for. I’d rather throw Path of Exile 20$ bucks every six months for a free game I’ve been playing for 6+ years, that does not class lock cosmetics. You’ve already got my money on launch. That’s all you’re going to get.

its one if not the main reason i play this game no need to interact a lot whit others , but i am for the most part a solo player.

no its actually not an MMO where you all get this from is beyond me. and diablo has been a single player game first and a social game second.

you want an MMO go play Lost ark

i miss chilling with the homies on global1 already.

theyre really missing out by not having a chit-chat global chat. 2 days and i already miss poe’s global chat.

d4 is starting a mile behind when it comes to fun just with the absence of a global chat. even without considering the actual gameplay. (it gets even worse when you do)

Why would I sell anything if Lizzard was banning people who GOT PAID with exploited money even though they didn’t know about it?

but why you need talk to people ?
You dont have discord, msn, twitter, skype, slack, messenger, WhatsApp, Telegram, Viber, Instagram, Snapchat, Hangouts, WeChat…???
Do blizzard need create new chat ?

this is possibly one of the dumbest things I’ve read. You’re comparing a predominately single player game with an MMO and wonders why their social features a different.

and you don’t even know what an mmo is. jfc.

Yeah…there is legit more chat in D3 lol

I will never understand how matchmaking/group finder that was in Diablo 3 wasn’t utilised in Diablo 4. It is a sad lonely world indeed and i refuse to use third party apps in order to get a group going. I just want to chill and kill with people.

Personally I think seeing anyone in what should be a single player game is a bad move. Still not sure why Diablo needed to be an MMO.

I wanted to say,

why the first menu that pops up after logging into the queues, are: “characters” and “store”?

where is the “social” tab? i wanted to post something on the matter and i came across the OP post… you just nailed it…

the main reason for your argument was the offline play… dude, whats wrong with you, even diablo 2 had more social features than this… just go give all your money to Blazyzzard my dude…
