Diablo 4 is the most anti-social multiplayer game I've ever played

To this day D4 is the loneliest always online open world game where I can meet random people but don’t due to shards! I have ever played.

The lack of social or grouping abilities in the game is outright disgusting and sad for this day and age.

Its console game. 80% of players are console players in today standard. I can see it in other games like in COD where I am only PC player in both teams 99% of time.

Console players dont have keyboards, so why should they need chat? Simple.

I played NFS Unbound and there is no chat at all. So its like standard today.

Those games also had a ton of farming bots, hacked items, account stealing, duping, etc.

Also, i remember the D2 servers being super unstable and laggy. MUCH worse than D4. D3 same. Duping and hacked items everywhere.

I am not defending blizzard and what they do or do not with this game, but maybe that is why they have it they way it is….to get rid of all of that.

Saving that for Reaper of Lilith expansion. 29.99!

No idea really but I’d wager on it.

I will never trade anything with a random stranger.

I have no desire to team up with strangers.

This game would be hugely improved by having an offline option.

It’s really a wonky system.

Case in point - I was attempting a world boss last night and after dying multiple times I ported to town to repair. The boss was still at 75% health so I had plenty of time to get back. I ported right back - boss was dead and there was no one around. I guess I went back to a different shard or something?

Pretty strange system.

when someone send me a friend request in this game i think it’s pathetic.

this is a MO (multiple online) game at best. There is no grouping requirement to progress, very limited guild interaction, next to no chat, next to no trading. You just see other people running around doing their stuff and create a group if you want extra experience.
They want you to buy the season pass and cosmetics, so they made the game a MO so you’d believe other people would actually see your character’s costume and make your purchase decisions easier. Would anyone even think of buying the season pass on an offline game?

everytime I see someone in the open world and we end up killing the same mob(s) together or doing the same event, I throw them an emote. But they never reply…/sadface

I seriously missed D3’s instant group play function minus those leeches and afkers.

Thats cuz that emote mechanic is garbage too.

Takes to long to find the right one then put it onto your bat, save changes then open the bar again and use it.

Just let us select/use it, all with 1 click and were good, no need to save it, no1 uses them so often they need to be saved anyway.

You’ve got me wrong “my dude”. I think D4 is in a terrible state - you can see that if you look at my post history. I’m not defending Blizzard here - I’m saying the OP is making an irrelevant reference comparison. I don’t really care what they do with chat / social / multiplayer but it’s a bad starting point to say “zomg WoW is so much better at MMO than D4!!”. Well yeah, because D4 is NOT an MMO. Pretty simple.

The developers directly stated, before the game launched, that this “isolation” would be the expected player experience. It was explained that - yes - while you would find some people out in the open world you would, more often than not, be by yourself.

While it can be frustrating at times, it’s working as intended.

Wow, thats disappointing, why te big deal of making it cross play if they dont really want you to group up…

It’s not easy for console gamers to type so guess what. Have some emotes instead. Genius, isn’t it? What do you expect from this trash company anyways. These incompetent idiots deserve all the backlash they get.

You are 100% correct.

Cross play just refers to console players and PC players being on shared shards. It doesn’t refer to seeing other people in your overworld.

Thank you for clearing that up for me

Meming in global 1 gives POE leagues big longevity. It makes me want to LOGIN just to see someone post a paragraph question and have everyone saying “GET DOWN MR PRESIDENT” “GET DOWN” “ON THE GROUND”

Have they ever stated the amount of concurrent players?

Because I like stats, let’s assume if things were split evenly:

100k concurrent players (which might be pretty low) / 2 (seasonal/eternal)

50k / 4 world tiers

12.5k players on a single server at any given time.

Am I doing this wrong? So, there should be at least 12.5k players per server at any given time, but likely significantly more in world tiers 2 and 3, and maybe more on seasonal. It feels far emptier than this to me. Even if it’s half that amount, something feels off. They should enable server-wide LFG to make it easier to see where people are and what they are doing if these numbers are accurate in the slightest.

Most of my group invites are declined, likely because people don’t know what I’m wanting to do, and because people don’t chat/can’t chat as easily on console or with a controller. I should know what someone is wanting to do before joining a group, and I shouldn’t have to use a 3rd party system to make that happen. If the intention was to create isolation, they definitely accomplished that at the cost of being anti-social. D2 and D3 definitely felt like more social experiences.
