Definition as we know it today within social or online communities, I’ll fix that, my bad.
Just logged after 1 year and 2 months to see if anything changed …yep 1 extra expansion to pay and play with the same game-style like 1st day that i hated.
Diablo 4 is the 1st game that i paid more than 100 euro to play for less than a week ( I still remember being a alpha or at the best beta tester .
D4 just isn’t a successor to d2. Thats why many dont like it. Game is d3 reskinned. From the begining items were d3 like and the game just went more and more d3 route.
d4 bad. Love poe2 true diablo successor and experience.
To be clear it’s not “someone or something”, it’s women, hence “Knight”.
That’s specifically what makes it sexist; the idea was that there were men who would show up to “defend the honor” of women, speaking over those women, against their detractors. It was considered a form of misogynistic manipulation because chivalry is all about smashing and has nothing to do with being a great person towards others … primarily if those others just so happen to be people you’re attracted to … who you want to smash.
Maybe times have changed. That’d be good.
yes, but when the xpac gets you to what should of been basegame v1.0 launch…thats not a good thing.
still issues that they’ve known about long enoguh. Spires sucks. its widely agreed upon and theres still no change to em. they are actually harmful to your runs.
another issue they’ve had months to change yet ignore it.
MW in D4 is awful.
thats main issue people have is they dont seem to actually care.
There are many great ARPG’s that people like endgame and yet D4 team just doesnt care…its only about the killing stuff and useless loot that you spend too much time trying to min/max in order to keep user time values up.
The game takes 1 step forward and then 1 step back. people liked x season, but next season its hated…and it repeats. They don’t pay attention to WHY the seasons that are liked are liked enough.
Now do I hate D4? no. I love the IP and I want it to be great. Issue is the ones who want the game to become great have no actual ability to do so as we are at whims of AVB’s devs and their shareholders.
love or hate poe the devs actually pay attention to the playerbase’s likes/dislikes every season.
AVB’s devs (be it ow/wow/d4) just have a infamous history of never paying attention until its too late. (was dragonflight a good xpac? sure maybe, but by time they actually did the changes people wanted the players moved to other games so it was too late).
Again I want the game to thrive, but until devs do we are boned and I wont say a lump of coal is a diamond until its actually a diamond.
(and before people assume im a diablo hater and poe fanboy…i have multitudes more time in diablo games than poe & poe (and poe2) does have its own downsides that many people do overlook)
D4’s claim was less D3 and more D2…but the game is closer to d3 than d2 and its nto even close.
Dude they’re KNOWN to generate controversy for content. How do you not understand this?
You’re moving the goalposts. You and I both know those reports were true. They’re true because it makes sense.
I can’t answer that because that’s Blizzard’s design decision & I wasn’t there when it was explained to players. From my understanding, they took the wide ranging power envelope of Ancestrals (whole tier which has highest ranges, then 1-4 out of 4 affixes of those ranges) and then shrunk it down while making the rare/legendary 750’s practically push you to near 90% levels. So before, it was like 1-60% > 70, 80, 90, 100% and now it’s more like 1-90%, Ancestrals 90-100% due to the fact that rolls and tempering are streamlined.
That was for Hardcore mode.
The community was asking for something on the level of D4 horse. Instead what they got was warp to checkpoints lol
lmao
That’s because you had NOTHING! NOTHING!!! You had NOTHING and you LIKED IT!!! Other people were fed up that they didn’t like an RPG that gave you basically NO LOOT and of course they had to change that. You want me to dig into Reddit for this? Cause I can. But we both know I don’t need to cause you are well aware of what I’m talking about.
You are deluding yourself. Don’t call me delusional. That’s what you’re being right now. I had to sit there & read thread after thread. Meanwhile D4 already has that problem solved. Yet the devs don’t get their credit for that.
Its wat? I googled it. Funny fluffy lifeform not be found in computOr games
I laughed so I’ve thrown away all my credibility.
It gets a lot of hate because the game is terrible.
It is pretty simple. It’s children’s game with zero depth, uninteresting skills, no excitement, no loot and a mobile game business plan. It rides on the back of a dead IP.
People “hate” on it because they are disappointed something they love is dead.
Rightly so.
Exactly why I changed it to say ‘definition as we know it today within social or online communities’. No one here is using the term specifically referring to a male defending a woman. They’re using it as a derogatory term for some one (regardless of gender) defending D4 or Blizzard which obviously have no gender. Although one could argue the majority on this forum are probably men, as is typical in most video games.
So while it could be perceived as sexist back in the day, that no longer applies to those using it within the context I stated above. Times have definitely changed my friend.
The sad part is the term didn’t die, it just expanded, but so it is.
Que sera sera, a lot of old terms have been given new meaning in this day and age. Now if you can come up with a better term for ‘white knight’ and make it popular, by all means, I’m on board.
The term already exists, “fanboy”, and there’s any number of equivalents. It’s not that the terms exist per se but that some terms, like White Knight, are never good. They don’t evolve in a direction that is positive. The idea that a person who doesn’t agree with you must be an irrational diehard trying to win the “favor of the maiden” regardless of their position is horrific, at best.
It’s one of the few terms in popular parlance that never truly escapes it’s roots by construction.
To be clear the context of the critique is important, person states that talking about mental health is problematic, then goes on to express the same core sentiment on just a different playing field.
Disagree, the hate it gets is vastly deserved.
- Problems with constant, extreme direction switches.
- That whole ‘legacy’ item mess they created
- horrible legacy code that’s preventing them from fixing things like duping until it’s far too late to fix the problem, causing huge amounts of damage to the Eternal realm.
- Completely tone deaf campfires that result in people asking who exactly they’re getting feedback from
- A lot of botched seasonal content
I can keep going but suffice to say that D4’s biggest problem is that the game director keeps quitting and a new one comes in who keeps trying to do their previously failed ideas.
With Smiley back, Jade and Tabitha’s revelations about their role in the town, as well as Julie being able to control her time traveling to some extent, things are going to get interesting coming up.
It wasn’t. No one was talking about hardcore. Stop lying to yourself.
Literally no one was asking for a mount lol. It isn’t a fully fleshed out open world like in D4. Mounts make no sense with the map layouts. Stop it, its embarrassing.
Theres that sweet emotional response I was looking for. You are emotionally invested in D4 lol. The loot at first wasn’t great but it was fine…now its great. I wonder why a company would put out a game in early release, maybe for feedback. I know thats crazy. D4 has been in beta for a year and a half.
No you don’t, go play D4. They have a goblin event going on, have a blast.
Hope you are enjoying your holiday off from school.
Once D4 gets an end game it will be pretty darn good imo
Oh 100% agree. I always found it hilarious when people think if you don’t agree with them you must clearly be defending the subject in question, and therefor that makes you the enemy. It’s just so asinine.
Now as you said it obviously depends on the context as well. While I wouldn’t necessarily use ‘fanboy’ as a derogatory term myself, seeing as I consider myself a fanboy of many things, I have seen it used as a derogatory term against those who like something in particular and are offering a difference of opinion about it.
All that being said, I’m too old to care about political correctness at the same time. ‘White Knight’ used within these forums and other online places, means what I posted above. I make fun of it because the term, especially on these forums, has come to mean so many different things it’s honestly lost all meaning. Now where the term originated from has no relevance within this context other then to argue semantics in my opinion.
Regardless if the term was ‘white knight’ ‘defender’ ‘holy crusader’ etc. it would make no difference to me other than the context that it’s being used in. That’s just me though, I am known as the odd one on these forums by quite a few people.
LOL
This coming from you? On your high horse in a previous thread calling me toxic?
The entertainment here is really top notch.
Anyway,
The game has improved in huge leaps and bounds since release. I’d like to see a few things tweaked, but it is nice that they are making changes every season.
Build storage will be great, but will be better when they revisit talent trees. Class balance (IE having more than 1 class be able to clear 150 Pit), bigger inventory, harder difficulties outside of the pit, legendary healing potions, and treasure goblin improvements (vault/rainbow, etc.) are the things that I believe would make a difference in keeping people interested between season bar fills.
Otherwise I’m having a pretty good time. More fun when events are going on for sure.
It’s not hate, but crashes are real, and for 100 bucks, it’s the only game that makes the PC crash and instant reboot, with almost a 3D card fried, that’s not normal. Despite those bugs, the game is very repetitive, so it’s well founded criticism.
