Diablo 4 doesn't launch from battle.net launcher

I do, not sure if this is causing the issue and not sure how to check it

I have the same problem. Updated Windows and all my drivers as well.

If you are using System Mechanic, disable antivirus before loading Diablo 4. It will then launch properly.

Still no go…

No LocalPrefs.txt file as I’ve deleted and reinstalled the game and it hasn’t created a new file.

No idea what to do now… I am running Sophos as my antivirus. It is the end client version managed by a server so turning it off is not really an option.

So while trouble shooting I’ve tried running other games on my PC. Pretty much everything else is running fine… only diablo 3 and diablo 4 don’t run. And before we say it must be blizzard titles, hearthstone runs fine… like seriously wtf Blizzard…

New diablo 4 update… same result… some blue assistance on the matter would be nice!!

This problem randomly started for me last Tuesday. Wound up reinstalling. Worked again for 24 hrs, now it’s bad again. Clicking the “Play” button in the launcher causes it to say “Launching,” then it switches back to “Play” 10-15 seconds later. Game does not launch. Unable to launch game from Explorer.

Attempting to access the .exe directly gives an “Invalid access to memory location” error.

Literally everything else, any program or game, works fine. Just Diablo 4 being terrible.

Did it start after patch 1.4.2 happened? Because a lot of people are posting about that on the Technical Forums, but nothing people try seems to work.

Not exactly sure which patch number it was but it was early into season 3… got to play a couple of times then an update and now nothing… though I believe it was also around the time DLSS and ray tracing update… whether that has anything to do with it…

Weird. 1.4.2 was the recent patch that added the quest to get the pet dog.

Still broken… and no replies from Blizz… love the service…

To fix this issue I wasted hours… For me i ended up going into my account settings. Went to connections and clicked confirm connection for my Xbox network which verified that I have gamepass. Its worked for me twice now. Good Luck

On PC here, all the specs to run it. Battle.net just loads the game to a black screen with my mouse icon as the blue loading circle. HELP PLEASE?!?!

Don’t think this is the same issue I’m having as this sounds like this is an xbox thing and I’m on PC

The only thing that has ever worked for me so far (I play on Windows 11) is to have the bnet app scan the game files for any mistakes and reinstall any it finds (scan and repair). The process takes 20 or so minutes and it still doesn’t prevent crashing sometimes. >.< It works up until the installation of another patch. For some weird reason, the game breaks like this with every patch. Hope this helps some others having this annoying issue. Please Blizzard, this problem is seriously embarrassing. Please just do better.

Tried scans and repairs multiple times… no dice… I agree that it is quite embarrassing

3rd party antivirus, 3rd party firewall, delete (or check) windows defender firewall for diablo 4 AND battle.net entries, delete or rename your localprefs.txt, shut down overlays, scan and repair the game, check / roll back gpu driver, disable any compatibility modes on battle.net exe files and diablo exe files

those are pretty much your options

All that or Blizz could investigate what the go is and fix the bloody thing as it was working!

the common denominator is … ready?.. Your PC

Mine got resolved by disabling the Anti-virus. I got Sophos.
